Deus Ex: Human Revolution Interview: The Value of Choice
Art director Jonathan Jacques-Belletete talks about the beginning of the story and its impact on the main character, the gameplay, and the player of Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
@rmanolache Actually it does derive from Latin, as Latin was the catholic language throughout Europe in the past, Latin itself is derived from Norse due to invasions in the 8th and 9th Century. There is nothing German about it as English was already establish before Germany even touched the UK or Europe. That is was I was taught that's what I will stick with.
Jonathan Jacques-Belletete interviewing: "Ok, so I've got a great idea for the main character." *walks up to producers...takes off his glasses and raises an eyebrow* "What do ya' think?" Producers: "Hired."
wtf rogerio ? English most certainly does NOT come from latin, it's a germanic language so it is derived from german! I'm from Romania and romanian, french, italian, spanish come from latin, not english!
@Ariboy It is the easiest second language ever my friend, no doubt about it, unless you speak portugue, in which case spanish would be the easiest, but overall, it is english. Also english as many other American(continent) languages comes from latin, so overall even if it is a mix from different languages they remain similar.
@Trueman5 It's actually one of the hardest languages to learn as a second language because it uses words from multiple different languages and then there is the considerable differences in tones and even entirely different words everywhere you go.
@Duke51... English is not the most complicated language to learn...actually it is probablly the most easiest language to learn. Try to speak french or cantonese and you will see how the english grammar is pretty simple.
@ MuddVader Yeah, this guy's English is actually really good for it being his second language... and besides that English is one of the most complicated languages to learn. And the guy didn't look that much like the dude in the game, maybe the same hair cut and the same facial hair.
One of the cool things about being a Art Director. You can make some of the characters look alot like you....lol anyone see the resemblence?
At 00:20, the commentator looks so much like Adam Jensen it's scary. Same hair-do, same beard hair, same facial structure.... If only the commentator was wearing sunglasses.
It doesn't look like you have much control over your character and what he does in combat. You just walk up to an enemy, hit a button, and he beats the crap out of them and stabs them to death. The game looks good and has a lot of potential though.
Is it only me or doesnt Art director Jonathan Jacques-Belletete seem to be the model for the ingame char? Same look exactly if you take off his glasses. Have an other look will ya´
This game looks amazing they have taken their time carefully on this game and thats whats makes great games. Yeah i do see a simularity to art director but i dont care his art work looks the best good job!!!!! Can wait for this game is their a preorder? All i can say is dont wait to buy this game because you will be missing out on the most epic of them all.
@musicallie44 Hate to break this to you man, but word on the street is that the date is being pushed back.
One month away from date of sale and no more than 3 sec at a time of actual non-cut scene game play?!?! And I have only viewed about 2-3 of those 3 second clips. The game looks clean, but I have never played a deus ex game before and would like to see more. The staff put out a complete video review of another game that is not even released yet(killzone)we can't get in game footage of a coming soon title?
Why are people making fun of his minor stutter? Its not even a big deal lol. Anyone who makes fun of that must be jealous that hes devilishly handsome, AND the main hero in a video game. Seriously though, I didn't even notice it at first, or when I came back to watch it again.
Did this Art Director have the main character designed after himself? Reminds me of multiple game titles. A little Splinter Cell, Assassins Creed, DarkSector and Killzone. So is this game not coming out in March? It has been pushed back multiple times now.
This is coming out the SAME day as Dragon Age 2. Gotta say...right now I'm in Deus Ex's camp. It looks like it's going to be amazing.
have they made adam jensen like art director?, or the arts director made himself like adam jensen???!!!!!!
This game looks like it should hold up to the original nicely. I'm seeing a lot of good potential from Human Revolution that I saw in Deus Ex and even Invisible War. Not to mention this character looks considerably more badass than any of his predecessors.
Its funny how this game takes place 20 years before the first Deus Ex, yet it looks more futuristic!
graphics look amazing really looks like they kept that aspect of it to pc only and not dumbing it own for counsels, really loving the arm blades too
great trailer... pointless interview. honestly, i watched and listened, and in the end almost like it never happened. there is a saying, comes in one ear, comes out in the other.
this game obviously has a TON of thought, time and energy put into it. Please God, let it live up to the first...
I must play this game, the others in the series, were very enjoyable to play and re-play. This game should be excellent!.
I think the guy looks like the main character just so we won't notice how he says nothing at all during this entire interview. And look at the comments - it worked. He said things that applied to almost every game on the market in between repeating the same too-general-to-mean-anything nonsense.
I love him, he is so ambitious. Hell, he even based the character's model upon himself!(narcissistic :P) I am sure he insisted on putting those sun-glasses into the game. The game has a great look to it, great use of SSAO in some parts of the video. Nevertheless, it looks a little jaggy and too cartoonish at times - probably the technical limitations of the console counterparts. Hence what he implied, PC ftw. :P
