What's wrong with GS that tons of videos like this are marked as gameplay, when the video itself doesn't show even the story, graphics, main character, etc...?
I heard a few old school peeps talking about just hearing the theme song to Deus Ex 1 making them "jump". Right there with ya! DX1 was by far a fav of mine and like the rest, was disappointed w/ 2. Dark and with a deep plot is all I care about. I could care less if they leave out the multi-player element as not all games are made to be played online. Bump all the trendy gamers. This is more of a cult game if you ask me. Now gimme something good! "Anything you want."
i agree it looks like a crysis but with the deus ex roots. i hope it sticks to deus ex roots but with a whole new feel. maybe it will even be better than crysis, but one thing they need to do, is put a great multi-player without that. it would be another crysis..
it def reminded me of crysis. i'm looking forward to this game, not because of the crysis thing, but because i'm craving a good pc rpg (single player).
If it will have a good story the game will be great.. phuck graphics and trailers.. need a good story !!!!
Cant make heads or tails of this trailer, but it will probably either suck really hard, or rock the world. Either way im glad dues is back for another.
I just hope they focus badly on gameplay than graphics, and they make a long game, because we see an deus ex every few years..... Agent O-range know i like lemon-lime.
Not a big fan of the movie dude voice intro (dont know the name of it) "In a Town" blah. Fallout 3 just uses music from a radio.
@Omegakill, you kind of have a point, i've been a gamer since the mid 80's and there has been a shift towards immersing the player with visuals, of course due to the power of modern consoles, and modern tastes. but some games still get it right, quite often these aren't even popular releases, just look at some of the gems on xboxlive arcade, Shadow Complex ( reminds me of Another World ) and the resurgence of the Alien Breed name. oh you don't have a 360? bummer....
Who took over eidos I read that they were closed down due to profit margins down. May have just been US Eidos.
@Shinkada I can see your point, but I still believe games have changed to be geared towards pick up and play type people. Im talking about missing the games where you have to spend more than 2 hours to get into, like Mass Effect (ME2 out soon WOOP WOOP). You talk about how its been true since NES, but I remember the SNES (dont remember the names of any games on the NES) being a time consumer: Mario games, Zelda games etc. Then I remember how many hours I spent on FF7,8,9 between those 3 games alone..god knows how many hours I wasted away (no regret what so ever) on the best stories i've ever heard, saw and experienced. Then we come to the PS2 and there are still some good games banging around such as FF10 (can you tell im a FF fan boy?) dragon quest, Star ocean and other great games. Then you have the PS3 & 360 (cant say anything bout 360 coz i dont own one) the ps3 as far as im aware doesnt have any good RPGs (got disgaea 3 which was pretty good but not touching it any more)..As well on PC's now more and more games looking like pick up and play.. I agree that games were made with the best graphics available to the engine the game was built in but sometimes I feel that it leaves other areas weak.
@Omegakill0 Games haven't changed at all. Games back then still aimed for cutting edge graphics while being simple and easy to pick up and play, to appeal to as broad a market as possible (see: Zelda). This has been true since the NES; hell, it's been true since the Atari. Reminiscence is a misconception.
@Shinkada How the f**k is that dumb? Graphics have advanced and along with it, I belive that dev's have just gone too far towards graphics rather than gameplay. Such as: lets make it shiny with basic gameplay so people can pick up and play when I got a spare 30 mins then sod it coz I dont need to spend any real time on it. Also I said they had bad graphics COMPARED TO TODAYS GAMES if you read my post fully. I know its possible to have graphics and gameplay and story like I gave an example of mass effect which has all 3 at high levels.
@Omegakill0 Despite the fact that most of those games had cutting-edge graphics? Just because graphics got better doesn't mean that developers only care about them. That's just... It's just dumb. That's all. What you're trying to say is that they had bad graphics because they were 'blocky'? Even though that was the potential of graphics at the time? No, the worrying part of DE3 is Square, not the natural evolution of things. Other games have proven it's completely possible to have graphics, AND gameplay, AND story. Square hasn't been behind a single one of those games, sadly.
Sorry to say I have no faith that DE3 will be as good or better than DE1, if we look at games from the late 90's or early 2000..we got games like Fallout 1&2, Jagged Alliance 2, Planescape Torment, Baldurs gate 1&2 etc..all amazing games due to their story or game mechanics (ahem, Interplay ftw)..you know why? Because the developers didnt worry about making life like graphics, they knew the limit was either pixleated or blocky type graphics, which means they knew people would accept shoddy graphics (compared to today's games) How many people would of loved oblivion even more if the graphics were slightly less shiny but there was more involved with AI, or combat, or quests even. Games today are very much built for people who pick up and play something shiny then get bored. From the top of my head only one game company hasnt lost sight of how to make a great game and thats Bioware (Mass effect, KOTOR1&2 to name a few in the last few years and now Dragon Age) Because they make games with decent graphics (nothing too breath taking because they concentrate more on detial than actual shine and polish which imo makes up for it) but wicked story lines. I cant get enough of ME1 because of the story and the character interactions. I had enough of oblivion once I had completed it and played a few mods. Even Square-enix have started to let me down, FFXIII doesnt look so FF any more, or am I just getting old?
Really cool hearing the old theme song again, I loved the first game so much and just like everyone else was disapointed by the 2nd game, especially after I had to upgrade my video card just to play it and the experience wasn't even a fraction of what the original game offered. I agree they shouldn't worry about a multiplayer element at all, just focus on making a great single player experience hopefully similar to Fallout 3, just with a better engine.
The first Deus Ex was an awesome game. The second game was like most everyone agrees--lousy by comparison. C'mon Eidos...redeem yourself!
I remember I fantastic game System Shock 2. Then some people of that company (Looking Glass) when on to the project DeusEx, with similar gameplay of Sysyem Shock, nut better graphics and ambientation
Lol remember seeing this is 2007. Its ok and it is a teaser trailer. So it is not a real trailer with gameplay or anything like that and the games have always been pretty good so I think that this will not be bad.
The first is one of my all time favorites, I hope this one does it justice and doesn't play down like Invisible war.
1st game was probably my fav of all time. They kinda lost the script/magic on the 2nd, but 10yrs after the 1st I hope they can bring back excellence to the series (great story - detective, conspiracy, man vs. machine, man is machine, double cross, matrix/blade runner look, etc., & great action + rpg elements + open world). It's gonna be something to see J.C. Denton in today's video excellence. It was a dark, good looking game then & I expect it to look even better now.
Just don't tack on some fps multiplayer. Pls concentrate on making a great SP.This isn't another Duke Nukem tho, Eidos will deliver, rt?
thenephariouson, that's good to see. The second Deus Ex was such a let down. In it's own right, or compared to the bulk of video game releases, I suppose Deus Ex 2 was pretty good, but Eidos set the bar themselves with Deus Ex 1, and 2 did not come close to matching it. Here's hoping for the best.
haha same i jumped up a bit hearing original theme heh. but after seeing that piece of sewer juice cocktail of a game that for some odd reason was named deus ex 2 im not holding my breath ~_~
I don't know if this is coming to 360 or not, but if it is, hopefully MS will patch the f***ing sequel. I'm tired of seeing it in bargain bins and not being able to play it on the 360. I don't have an Xbox anymore, and I'm not a fan of PC gaming (though as a last resort, I may consider it.) Admittedly, I remember seeing this when it came out and having minor interest but never giving it a shot. I played the PS2 port recently, and aside from porting issues (odd controls and insane loading screens) and old (bad?) game design choices (having to find a tiny item or keypad to proceed, etc), it was a really cool game. The atmosphere and story really did it justice, even despite being outdated and limited in scope, no doubt due to limitations of hardware. Still, I didn't think I'd enjoy it all that much, and it proved me wrong. That rarely happens. Also, that music was so good. Too good if you ask me. It must be a conspiracy.
It would be sweet if they made it like the others, but had the fallout idea, where you can roam around and do what you want when you want in any order. Only no nuclear bombs dropped, its a full functioning city. But thats just me.
I own both Deus ex 1 and 2 the trailer was hard to figure out both one and two were and are awesome. There is a movie coming out based on DX 1, which if they stick to story should be great waiting to see when the DX game hits the market as well movie waiting with child like anticipation
I cant wait for the new Deus Ex to come out! I loved the previous ones. Does anyone know if Warren Spector has any involvement in this one?
First one was a great game, second one was a good game, but could have been longer + the endings and story line at the end were a bit crappy + the maps were a bit small, so you had the feeling of being trapped in a box or going along a narrow path, which was not the case with deus ex, where you could explore and find new things. I hope that this one will have the feeling of the first game.
Deus Ex is a Awesome series. It's about time they made a new one. Deus Ex: Invisible War is one of my favorite games of all time.
actally i thought that trailer was pretty good i think though that it's in a trend of very cryptic trailers like the first modern warfare 2 trailor but still don't know for sure if i'm going to get this but it looks cool
please make it more like the first one the hud and the person in the top left hand corner. i hope they have the skills if they make it like the first but next gen it would be a marvel masterpiece obviously with an amazing story and the music from the first one. it has to be like that which was the problem with the 2nd they changed it to much "deus ex the best game ever"
I think that was a fetus. That's just creepy. I loved Deus Ex. 2 lost some of the flavour, so here's hoping they go back to basics. Can't wait guys.
