it appears objects in their world can transport them back in time so effectively what we have here is a free to play hub which can easily tie new content into a storyline and branch off from there, it'll have a subscription service for added benefits, and/or the option for microtransactions etc.
what will make or break this game is how much of a grind it is, some f2p games really take the piss, and even though how good it looks it does look like it's a game that'll get old fast without varierty and support and actual benefits that draw the attention of hooked players to actually spend some money. No doubt be a hit in Japan though.
Panta Rhei is beautiful... Hopefully they show off more environments, characters, monsters, and armors. I'm not worried about the free to play or future setting though. Capcom Online Games does a decent job with MHFG although that's subscription-based, and the story based on what they're saying sounds different from medieval RPGs or Assassin's Creed.
I'm not thrilled this will be free to play, but the graphics look so amazing, and the combat looks pretty solid, too.
looks like this trailer was made by someone who has A.D.D and drank 12 frickin redbulls. everything is all over the damn place!
Been following this game for a while and it's shaping up to be alot different than I thought. The first reveal trailer showed an archer who looked like an elf and knight going through caves and fighting a dragon together. Now I don't know what the hell's going on. Still looks interesting though.
it just LOOKS like dark souls, it has its own combat system and just so you know dark souls is a great game so get over yourselves
I don't know what the hell that was, but I know I want it. Bad. It reminds me of what Shadow of The Colossus started out like when it was still in the concept phase.
I heard this was going to be online only...Then I saw "Capcom Online" in the clip, hopefully this is not the case.
I do't understand what's up with people...This looks nothing like Dark Souls...not gameplay-wise or even really aesthetically. Yah, It's fantasy-themed and a bit dark, but that's it. Hell, it seems closer to Assassin's creed (story-wise) than Dark Souls. I'm still pretty excited for this; the random dungeons and enemies sound fun.
What......the...... ........ fricking frick?!?? Ummm......ooookay. So we have - what? Another Assassin's Creed? Wow. How monumentally lame.
I was seriously looking forward to the first, great next-gen fantasy game with stupendous graphics. The first trailer had me literally salivating (calibrating? ;-). But this......this is.........I don't know what this is. Plus the inferences about souls/lost souls/etc. give my mouth the aftertaste of Dark Souls, which makes me want to vomit.
If all they produce is a mind-f*ck of a game, set in some near-future world with a "cool-but-outcasty" Desmond stand-in, who goes into a fantasy world and has to harvest freaking souls to open the next "time-gate" and proceed to the next "memory-place".....I will be SO disappointed.
Strike that. I already AM "SO disappointed". -_-
but on a more serious note, graphics look very pretty, but some of the combat looked rather dull. Also, the camera looked very shaky and found itself in some bad spots during the combat. i'm also not convinced that I like the blurring of everything lol. Everything has this 'shaky' or 'blur' effect, so nothing is really focused or sharp.
Fire effects look great though! Except oh wait for that i'll just play InFamous Second Son...
I think Gamespot made a mistake in the listing of this game.
This isn't 'Deep Down' this is Assassin's Creed 5: Dark Souls.
Very excited for this game.
This looks like the spiritual successor to Dragon's Dogma, which was Capcoms initial attempt at the Western RPG scene (and it had a battle system LEAGUES better than Skyrim already). I have full faith that this game will be great if it builds from what they learned from Dragon's Dogma.
I used to be interested in this game. Now I'm just confused. I would've been okay with another developer sucking on Dark Souls tit, but this looks like it doesn't understand the strengths of the souls games anyway.
"Capcom said that it was "moving forward with the development of new title 'deep down' for next-generation consoles, representing the culmination of Capcom technology and our next leap forward".
so basically this:
Deep Down - XONE, PS4
Dead Rising 3 - XONE, PS4
Titanfall - XONE, PS4
seems inevitable that these games are ALL going multi-platform.
It's like Dark Souls.
It's like Dark Souls.
It's like Dark Souls.
It's like you people never played Dragon's Dogma.
Can they make a normal game trailer for once? This is normally what I dream about when eating shrooms.
Why are most people thinking that Dark Souls was the first dungeon/hack'n'slash game? This game isn't a ripoff of anything; it's just part of a specific genre...
Not sure what I just watched.
Story - AssCreed (Animus)
Gameplay - Dark/Demon Souls
Music - Final Fantasy
Voice Overs - I don't even know anymore
@R3FURBISHED Not as good as the first videos of it.
@punkdsk8erdude nice one.
@formaldawg it couldn't be further from monster hunter if it was trying :|
@ShutUpFanboys except sony is providing funding and staff for deep down...think of mass effect. the other two are inevitable though.
@WeWerePirates yeah all we know about that game but dark souls still being better so... it's like dark souls xD
@WeWerePirates I'll bite. It's like Dragon's Dogma: it has cool visuals and decent gameplay but with a non-sensical story wrapped in a kooky conceit.
Like Dragon's Dogma, I really want to sort of play it.
@cboye18 love those dreams lmao
@Flip1094 Let's play… Name That Genre!
@Flip1094 No it isn't but this looks remarkably similar, also usually dark souls comparisons are in favor of the game in question.. at least in my mind
@Scorpion1813 ahhhaha - you hit the nail on the head there. As if my head wasn't f*cked enough by the near-future science-fiction elements in something I THOUGHT was the first, great next-gen fantasy game, I'm having to watch it and listen to Final-Fantasy crazy-ass music.
@Scorpion1813 I got the same impression: no cohesive vision, all derivative.
I bet the original pitch to the publisher was oozing simile.
@Scorpion1813 I so agree on the asscreed story and I thought I was the only one to notice
@enoughofthis Nope, Demon's Souls is also a From Software game, published by Namco Bandai. Souls games have nothing to do with Capcom, this is a Capcom idea
