When I picked up my gameinformer and saw mention of a new syndicate game I had some of the most exciting gaming related moments of my life. This lasted precisely till the moment I reached the article and discovered these incredible games were being mutilated and turned into just another shooter. Bad form. I would love to see a remastered take on the originals done with an isometric view. Why have all these companies decided this viewpoint/ style is no longer valid? It seems to me that there are an awful lot of gamer out there who want to see this style of game make a revival. Particularly with a classic ip like this.
EA could've saved MILLIONS by just giving us a nice gfx update on the original, and then put it out on XBOX Live and PSN... This will suck a homeless guy.
so tired of shooters OMG. New shooter comes out every other month. If I get this, it will be at 5-10 bucks from the bargain bin. Same with the upcoming XCOM
In my opinion what made Syndicate (the original) and Syndicate Wars was the ingenuity of the games and how you had to play them. Not before and not since the original two games has there been a RTS that played like these two games did. In essence they were two of a kind. The biggest reason I am disappointed is because for 15 years I have looked and waited and hoped for a new RTS in the realms of the original Syndicate games and with this new one coming out it looks as if I will still have to wait. Heres to hoping EA doesnt own the rights to Populous and allow it to also become a first person shooter.
@FoeCrusher Here is an interview with Paradox about Cartel. This is what the fans of Syndicate want. Not another done to death FPS.
Seems pretty fun though the characters could be less lame. I think the main problem in games is that they either offer a dull/stereotypical character or bad character customization.
I'd much prefer to see this back in it's strategy format, HOWEVER the game could work well in FPS, so far from the trailers don't show a great deal to really stand out however once more info starts to be released on how it will play it should be one to watch. Hopefully you can cover up those ugly faces with something to keep them mysterious and deadly looking.
I love how everyone has already written it off just because its a shooter and its called syndicate. I guess the new Bond remake is terrible as well because its just a shooter, Rage is terrible cause its just a shooter, and when Fallout 4 comes out it will suck cause its just another shooter, Mass Effect 3 will be just another shooter etc etc. I think the gadgets and stuff look interesting. To me this looks like a cyberpunk goldeneye.
Syndicate was one of the first games I ever played, along with Starcraft. Personally, while I would be really happy if this was another Strategy title, I think this game shows promise as a fun shooter. I think a lot of the fan-rage could have been spared if they'd put 'Syndicate:Operative' or something as a title to show that it's not an old-fashioned Syndicate game, as I don't remember this much rage over Starcraft: Ghost's announcement. Okay, so that went into development hell, but the point still semi-stands. Either way, I'm actually looking forwards to this as a new FPS IP, even just for the 4-player co-op that many franchises forget (No Co-Op in Story Mode? Shame on you, MW3, SHAME ON YOU.)
wow. I love how all the old fans won't even give this a chance due to the fact the devs have changed the genre of the game from the originals. get over it and let people who want to play the game play it.
Wow, Starbreeze took a unique and very fun game such as Syndicate and Syndicate Wars and turned it into what looks like a typical FPS. Good thinking guys, we all want typical games now-a-days. To hell with Skyrim or Arkham City we gamers want the same thing over and over again with more FPS's. I hope Blizzard follows suit and makes the next Starcraft game a typical FPS as well after all Starbreeze seems to think that the few and in-between RTS's are getting old (catch the sarcasm?).
This will flop, even if the game turns out to be good it will still flop because its not Halo or COD and thats all the consolites are interested in. PC gamers will likely give it a miss too since they have a mother load of better games to look forward to this year and another generic "press X to win" console shooter isnt really what PC gamers want especially from a title bearing the Syndicate name. The game does not look very promising from what I saw in that trailer to be honest. Thankfully there is a PC game called Cartel coming this year, developed by Paradox Interactive it will be the true spiritual successor to the old Syndicate games.
Well I played the original syndicate games and loved them. I will give this one a chance, after all Fallout 3 was alot different than 1 and 2 but I still enjoyed it regardless. I will go into this with an open mind and hopefully enjoy it (which based on trailers so far looks like I might)
Even the greatest sp or coop would soon tire ppl out. I understand they had to modify their engine/ not enough time/ money for pvp mp but, coop....how long...will it keep ppl in... From my experience, the only game that kept me interested so long was competitive mp, I mean really intense and responsive good ones like cod or crysis 2.
@ lee0577 : dunno maybe i wont like the game too , but since it has co-op i will atleast give it a try before bashing it :D i dont care if the graphics arent crysis level as long as gameplay will be fun
LOL!!! The graphics suck, compared to current FPS games!!! That helicopter looked like it had been taken from Deus Ex, the first game. Wish they don't ruin the game with this installment.
the part that you say what they mean is the 9 missions from the original syndicate. WTF had they done there? cant they just leave the original syndicate alone?
Really not sure what to make of this. It looks... ok, but something seems off about it. I don't know, maybe it's just me. Definitely going to be waiting for reviews before I think about buying this one.
This game looks worse every time I see new stuff about it. it was almost funny where it said take advantage of your teams skills and abilities then showed half a second of something that wasn't shooting before going back to people shooting other people in the face. Innovation is dead
