Wow i didnt even know there was a trailer released in 2007, the 1st i saw was like in february. Thats maybe the longest delay ever. 3 years. thats a while
This was in development way back in 2007 but it almost became a vapourware because its developer couldn't make it any further than this. I remember reading about this game back in '07 in PC Gamers magazine. Good thing they brought it back and are trying to finish it!!
@crashndash Yea your right, you can't just go off of cgi trailers, or any of that. From the post about the gameplay they showed off during the gdc, it sounds like its going to be an open world, sandbox type fps...with some left4dead mixed with Dead rising 2.
I would first like to acknowledge the 3.000lbs Elephant in the corner of the room. secondly, hope its not timed like Deadrising and more open like farcry 2 (ect) .
Well, sure those graphics weren't much to look at, but that ws 3-4 years ago. Besides, look at the CGI trailer that just got released. It was a great trailer with much better graphics.
I just hope it doesn't become like Dead Rising 2, and more like an upgraded awsome alternative for L4D
@Psilyocybin i saw the cgi trailer but its still not enough to go off of, im going to wait for a 5 minute play through or at least 3 minute beffore i start looking forward to this game. afterall you cant judge a game on just cinematics alone, it needs some good gameplay to go between those cinematics otherwise you got no consistency to the game.
@Krullboll thanks well atleast you are polite enough to say that its your opinion lol, anyways i wasnt saying dead space was scary.. what i was saying was the way the gameplay is set it could get anoying if your constantly being grabbed by something you cant see if you noticed that bit in the clip where he was fighting off a zombie. so its more like a comparison to the bits in dead space where you get caught in a execution scenario with a necromorph if you let it get to close so where you can see it comming in third person, you wont see it in first person if its from behind or the sides which will get anoying fast. like dont get me wrong amnesia is a good horror game but i go more for gore horror where amnesia is more psychological horror. i agree that first person makes the experience more scary in the way that you feel like you're in their shoes but i would prefer 3rd person when im playing a game with lots of gore so i can get creative and not miss a single bit of the action otherwise its point at a part of the body and click and that just takes the fun out of dissmembering people. (just my personal opinion)
@crashndash Played Amnesia and after that I tried dead space, played it for 6h, then I realised that the game would never make me feel like Amnesia did. Stopped playing because it was boring. 3rd person made Dead space a boring game for me, a horror game have to feel like it is me that is experiencing it, not some random guy I don´t give 2 shíts about. P.S. This is only my opinion.
PLEASE let them use another engine; or atleast an improved version of this one! This is SO outdated for a 2011 game.
@crashndash I believe that the 1st-person aspect of this game will help with the horror in the game. I'm not sure if you've ever played or heard of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, but if not, look it up. It is the most horrifying game I've ever played, and it would not be the same in anything but 1st-person. A game like Dead Space would suck in 1st-person, so I will hope that this game turns out less like Dead Space, and more like the original Resident Evil games.
@shanethewolf You may be right, but it isn't supposed to be a shooter. It is a 1st-person melee survival horror game. It's also going to be an open-world storyline with many RPG elements, so like Dead Rising in 1st-person and I'm guessing a hell of a lot less humor.
whoa I was just thinking about this game, I thought it was dead, well awesome can't wait to play it!
@TheColeMichael I agree the CGI trailer is amazing...a really great short movie, but I'm pretty sure it will have no similarity to the game. I could be wrong, but I expect this to be a typical zombie shooter.
@crashndash Dude, check out that new trailer they just released Dead Island CGI Trailer. I can see from that why they have held out on releasing this so far.
the tropical theme is a bit refreshing where its free roaming on a island full of zombies..... HOWEVER.... the first person gameplay seems like it could mess up the game especially if the zombies grab you alot, afterall could you imagine dead space in fps mode.... now that would just kill it. i wana see more trailers beffore i give my full opinion on this game :S
@shanethewolf I have to disagree with you. It's too often that you see games zombie games set in cold and dark locations (other than Dead Rising). This game looks fantastic in my eyes, and if you haven't watched the CGI trailer yet, please do.
Meh! I hate zombie games set in hot and sunny locations. They totally fail to capture the mood and the tension of zombie movies. Left4Dead has it spot on, but this just looks silly.
@Phr0z1nDuDe It's the Chrome Engine 4. While not quite as advanced as CryEngine, it is still pretty impressive. This game looks like it will actually be taking full advantage of it, which will be good to see what it can really do. This game I remember seeing a while back... and nothing since. It seems pretty cool from what little info I've been able to find. I'm really hoping it delivers, especially with the co-op aspect, could be really fun.
