i dont know it looks kinda stiff, look at the animations of the zombies when they chop the limbs, the body just kinda freezes in one place, and the animation of the attack look stiff too, i dont know about this one, it looks cartoonish to me, it would be nice to have a more serious tone, i was hoping for a nice improvement from dead island, but it doesnt look like this is it. something new, at least dying light has that nice feel to it when you jump and climb, more fluid combat.
meh. If I want some good zombie killing, I'll wait for dying light. This does look far off the last Dead Island game. Actually, they really shouldn't even be calling this dead island if it's set in Hollywood, California.
I take it Dead Island is now the way over-the-top one and Dying Light may be the somewhat more serious one? Though, this does look pretty cool and I'm not a big fan of zombie games.
I dunno I played the original when I had a 360 and the pace was slow and gameplay was strat and fear inducing which is what zombies should do.
This one seems like less spooky and more kooky and just goes all Sunset Overdrive and makes it seem more personal being first person with melee available. it's not as far out or as goofy as sunset but the scenic look and setting really is a notch up from reg zombie games.
I might actually buy this. it's not Sunset overdrive (only Xbox One game I actually want) but it will do.
"Dead Island 2 is an open world survival experience with visceral close combat, amazing setting and four-player co-op." I imagine there is no split-screen though, right? My girlfriend would die of joy if I could play it with her. Dead Island is her favorite game after Fallout 3 and she was really disappointed that there was no split screen in the first one.
please please please dont make this game about guns. there are enough zombie shooters. stick to a melee focus; its what sets DI apart
I have a feeling this game is actually going to be pretty good. The gameplay looks more creative, the last trailer for it looked well put together and promising. This game is using the newest Unreal engine while Dead Island 1 and Dying Light use the Chrome engine.
I still don't get why they're making two Dead Island games at the same time. It doesn't seem like the brightest idea, people might think this game is Dying Light, or forget about the other one.
Anyway, Dying Light looks more innovative so far, so I probably won't get this one.
I've been burned by Dead Island in the past, so....... For now I will stick with getting Witcher 3 in the spring and wait for the reviews for this.
One major problem they need to overcome with these games: Stop giving zombies so much health that you need to slice it for a few minutes for it to finally die. The first two game were full of those zombies! I've never found that fun, and the game starts to feel like a grindfest when you do that. It should not take a full minute of me cutting at a zombie with a machete to finally remove it's head.
You don't make zombie encounters more difficult by giving them a bunch of health, you make them more difficult by adding a lot more zombies. In zombie movies the danger is not in the zombies being strong, it's them attacking in large numbers and trying to win with limited resources.
SO dying light and Dead island 2 coming out in the Spring ? Think ill stay with Dying Light.
Dead island was amazing but Riptide sucked Ass. If they can get that Feel from the First Dead island game ill get it as well
EDIT: Thinking about it now, it would be better for Dead island 2 to be Delayed until spring 2016. Im sure People will be played Dying light over that game honestly. Plus it will give Developers more time to Make the game better.
@Kinguard73 I was getting a slight Sunset Overdrive vibe too :). Of course as you say it's not really like Sunset, but I think the colours look too bright and that's why I thought of it.
However you describe it, they do seem to be taking a way more light and humorous approach.
@Keaze_ marry her. I ask my gf to play games with me and she laughs. Literally, she just laughs and walks away. She doesn't even say no, she just laughs and walks away.
@Keaze_ the only reason a got DI 1 is cuz xboxlive listed it as split screen i was devastated to find out it wasnt
@pikanoob By the trailer it's looks like slice, dice, bash, burn and then some is much more focus on melee and environmental dmg , so no need to get up wind up.
Enjoy the game , that's what's important here.
@STrugglingFool accurate username is accurate.
@STrugglingFool Where do you see that? It says "Steam" in the trailer, and "PC" in the info box.
I don't think they are being made by the same people. This looks much better to me, as it uses the Unreal engine. Dying Light still uses Chrome engine, which is the same one that Dead Island 1 used.
@day3002 Dying Light is being made by the people who made Dead Island 1 as opposed to this game. So at the moment I have more faith in DI2 than Dying light.
@day3002 We've seen significantly more of Dying Light than we have of Dead Island 2. It's too early to judge, this is the first gameplay shown of the game and it's just zombies being killed in different ways.
@Auriken Left 4 Dead got it right. Most of the special infected weren't hard to kill, they just created more chaos while fighting the hordes of zombies.
@Auriken I liked that. like the huge thugs who hit you away and nearly impossible to dodge. It meant you had to be strategic even with were you cut, what I would do is try and break both his arms so he couldn't hit me away and then just go to town on his head while backing off when he went for the bite.
@jako998 I think a lot of the more casual players will see "Dead Island 2" and go with that one because of its established name.
Besides, looks like the games are going for 2 different tones with DI2 being more carefree and colorful. Personally i would go with DI2 because i didn't enjoy the first Dead Island so i never played Riptide and i like the sillier tone this new one has (same with Sunset Overdrive which makes me want to get an Xbox One) . I feel like Dyling Light is going to be too much like the Dead Island that i didn't enjoy. Plus i don't think Techland makes very good games. They tend to be super buggy and poor console ports on the PC.
But i could be completely wrong of course.
@CaptainSofa No just the same publishers, however publishers are the bosses so similarities are bound to be there.
@CaptainSofa There is a new chrome engine for Dying Light and a new Unreal engine as well. Neither of these games are using old engines.
Sure the graphics look a little bit more colorful than DL but i'll take gameplay over looks any day.
@CaptainSofa The similarities are that both are being published by Deep Silver. Much like lords of the fallen is a game much like dark souls and both are published by Namco Bandai.
Me too. I thought I was going to get Dying Light but ever since I heard about this (and now I have a current Gen console) I'm more intrigued by this.
@CaptainSofa dead island 1 devs are making dying light while dead island 2 is being made by yager and they have different publishers. It's a strange situation indeed i can only imagine that techland must have had some sort of falling out or something with deep silver because otherwise this would be one company eating into it's own sales.
