I don't think most of Jess' faults for the game are a real worry. You can tell that after she talks Dan is defending the game and saying "it is still in development, so things could be fixed." As far as the inventory system - I completely agree with everyone else - inventory management would be cool in a game like this and we all know that Darksiders was special becuase it was a combination of genres - a God of War meets Zelda, so adding an extensive inventory system is just another way for Darksiders to differenitate itself from GoW.
The game looks GREAT! Definitely my dark horse pick for GOTY. Maybe next time they could have someone who is familiar with the first game and the genre its in to review it.
Still like the art-style they're going for with the series, great to see Vigil are hybridising DMC and loot in a Zelda structure.
iszn't that just a good thing, adding items and stuff. it combines 2 vry intresting elements: platforming/hack n slash and rpg features. thats perfect to me. chars design is waaaayyy better in my opinion (i don't like to play blocks as chars like the first one). nice work!!
Based on the description it seems a little mmo-ish, which based on the game's style doesn't seem too bad. What i want to know is the one question I have been asking since before the boxart screen shot came out. What are they going to do about the crappy GoW and finishing move style combo system? It's like GoW, but in GoW you can actually build a combo higher than 10. Finishing moves don't end your combo, they further it. Also if you get hit and then attack again fast you can pick up your combo again. In the previous one the second you stop attacking, get hit or preform a finishing move the combo's over and you have to start from scratch.
Ok so this is the new way to make gamers watch the videos about games ! Put hot girls talking about the game and saying is great ! its fine by me... but i think you should give that girl a barbie for making her made that video
Either she is quite unfamiliar w/ actually playing Action-RPGs and/or Vigil should have made their demo playable from an earlier point in the game because she just comes across to me as being pretty off point.
Ok. To me, she's not hot but that's not what matters here. What does is that she and Gamespot need to understand that DS2 is NOT an action game; it is obviously an Action-RPG (or it should be obvious); or if you want to give it a general genre then RPG! XP-based character progression - check. Levelling and upgrade system - check. Exploration and questing - yep. Looting and inventory management - absolutely!
who said she was hot? she looks likes bugs bunny more than a hot girl and also the preview didn't impress me too
Sorry I can not ignore the fact that she is so hot as a gamer! Hot gamer girl? Paradoxical!!!!!!!!!!
Glad to know DS2 will have a leveling system, this will add depth and even more fun to the series...also is very nice to see such a lovely lady talking about games with such substance, keep the good work Jess.
Had no problems whatsoever with the controls in the first game; I never really understood what most reviewers were complaining about...and I guess I'm the complete opposite from Jess when it comes to inventories, because the idea of stats and item management seems to add a nice bit of complexity, where most games these days just dumb everything down to appeal the masses. Regardless, this game should be pretty sweet, as the first one was a seriously underrated game.
this is an action rpg not a classic action adventure darksiders 1 needed armor and weapons to customise war instead of just collecting armor pieces to get 1 new set near the end of the game makes it interesting when you find a new weapons or some epic looking armor i cant wait to smash 50 enemies then pick up those gloves and sword then spend 5 or 10 mins in my inventory deciding what to wear because im not playing a CLASSICAL ACTION ADVENTURE wish she would stop saying that lol this is action rpg the developers said themselves they allways wanted darksiders to be more of an rpg. there prob will be that 1 item you get from a boss that helps you get to new areas just like darksiders 1. experienced players have no problem with any controls i handled war like a beast. combat easy? or breezey lol spelling. difficulties are there for casual and experienced players some players will prob think normal is hard and some think its easy crank it up or down if so. great looking game day 1 buy ;)
i got the game last week off the PSN and ive got to say apart from it being very similar to a certain other god related game its pretty dam good the zones look great, great looking characters samael lookjs awesome as do the angels and its got a great story but i have to agree on the fumbly controls its not so much the combat controls they are pretty smooth its the equipment and power hotkeys they could of been handled like a couple of the items could of been automated instead of selecting them the number of times ive died due to swaping equipment around and then jumping for a swing point only to realise my hook isnt a selection although apart from that loving the game and looking forward to darksiders2 especially after this quote from while i was playing Ulthane says "I don't fear death boy" and War walks away and says "It's not death you should fear"
I remember the controls of Darksiders being smooth and not "fumbley." For being a bulky character War seemed to control flawlessly. Ruin handled nicely as well. I am glad there is a deep inventory. Big deal you have to spend some time in the inventory menu, it adds more to the game and will make you have to think a little. I love collecting things in games. At one point she complains that there are huge fights and then you left in the dust with what to do? Then she complains about having to pick up items. Well like most people here, I think all the negative things mentioned are actually positive things. I will for sure buy this game day one for PC! Hope they optimized it. Also, props to Amazon for making the pc version $50 and download version only $45! Looks like Amazon is pimp smacking Steam prices before and after games are released! (at least for the past year)
@Whitebloodsun as i said, it was just about the number of M and F staff in gamespot. nothing more ;)
Please, my reccomendations are: please make less puzzles, or when I am right in the adrenaline the puzzles make me stuck. I want more action, killing, combos, nice finishing moves, nice storyline and smooth movings, or otherwise when there are hard puzzles, I get stuck where I really want to move on. Please and thank you!
@redder1111 Gayspot? I thought most gamers support EA decisions back then. So, what do you mean with that gay comment? Hypocrite perhaps?
