man fuck GS shitty connection. even on low quality it lags. even after letting it play all the way through once and replaying it. even after pausing it to let it buffer. i've tried all the tricks in the book. and it sure as shit isn't MY connection since I just watched the same video on youtube in HD with no problems.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO, 2 more months god damnit!!!!!!!!!!! Whyyyy???? Someone build me a time machine plzzz???
FWIW, this is still the best article I've read about either Demon's Souls or Dark Souls. It's a really fun read, and it really conveys the sense of why the games are both so great and -- at times -- so frustrating, and why those two aspects are intertwined.
People who complain about dark souls difficulty are mad.
That game has so many crutches for new players its almost silly.. Super powerful weapons that you can get within 30 minutes of gameplay, npc summons that pretty much solo bosses for you, giving you buff items that let you kill the level bosses in about 5-10 hits (pine resin wrecks the taurus demon)
@Banyek I'm not looking down on casual players.
I just stated the fact that most games are (in my opinion) too easy, even when played on hard. Dark Souls is great because of the gameplay, the combat is the best there is for any RPG out there, its unforgiving and that's why I like it!
Honestly, I think its good that Dark Souls doesn't have a story that could potentially ruin the game it's all about getting to those bosses, dying and learning from it!
And NO. They don't have to lower the difficulty for the game to satisfy what you call the "casual player".
Would it be fair for someone who kills a boss in easy to get the same awesome weapon/gear from a boss as someone who killed it in hard?
I don't think so...
If you would prefer cheats so you could stream through the game why not just go to youtube and watch someone else play through it?
the achivements for this game came out finally!
the dragon bro covenant is back!
lets hope the dragon form isn't gonna suck as much it sucked in DKS1
I don't consider neither Demon nor Dark souls THAT hard as most people claim it to be... Yes, I died many times, and yes when compared to other games this series is somewhat challenging but only because most games nowadays are plain and simply piss easy.
I mean where is the challenge in games like the last of us? Ok... Its a nice game but c'mon they hold your hand the whole way through its like watching a movie! Skyrim is awsome but I died like 3 times during my play through.
Born in 81, I own over 700 games, every console since spectrum, hell I even own a neo geo! Looking at the history of games one thing is clear games are being dumbed down. Dark souls and the Witcher are a breath of fresh air!
I tried the first game, and i didnt liked it... It was way to hard, and I felt like I have no other goal, other than exploration. Im going to play it trough someday with the new Horizon mod tool, that someone created to boost up the caracter stats,( basically GOD MODE) but I dont understand the hype.... I didnt understand why it was GOTY too... People like this sort of brutal challanges, and wanderingaround...???! And is it just me, or the first game had veeery mediocre graphic? People keep saying it was beautiful... how??? Or maybe it gets better after a point , which I dindt reached yet.... The trailer looks OK, lets hope the next game will be more suited for me.....
Why are they releasing all these trailers and spoilers for the game? Less is more when it comes to Dark Souls and hype. These games are supposed to be mysterious. I haven't watched a trailer for this game for months, including this one. They may be shooting themselves in the foot.
I'm just of the kind of people who say: "no, thank you, not interested". Far from flaming, it is not my genre of gameplay at all. Even the graphic compartment looks to me a little outdated, with low poly surfaces and low resolution textures. For what? For being forced to kill again all the monsters I already killed from the bonfire to the place where I was killed. No, thank you, not for me.
@quickshooterMk2 dragon form sucked? are u joking or something? learn to use it it was powerfull already with that stupid roar skill what stagger you if u are skilled well enough GG
@3lgringo I mean yeah, at some point , youre right, some games like COD are a bit movie like, their story moves on a linear level, like a NES sidescroller, but that doesnt mean, that a game is only good, if its hard enough. What about newcommers to the console, what about less skillful or even handicaped players?? Dont they deserve the chance to have a lesser painful difficulty? I have 600 360 games and played trough 270 of it. (story-campaign only, mostly on easy difficulty) and trougout the 8 years of this console , ive never seen anything like dark souls...It feels like , it only gives excitement to the players, becouse they love progressing where others(like me) quit. So its not the core game that makes you like it.
I mean theres a shitload of games that are better in game world, rpg elements, and story, but they dont get that hype, becouse they are not hard enough??? And looking down on "casual " players, just becouse they dont like spendig brutal amount of time for zero progress, is sort of an assholeness..
@Banyek Why are graphics so important to you? And this whole "GOD MODE" crap, I wouldn't even bother.
@Banyek Its not that hard.
It just doesn't work like you are used to games working, the normal strategies don't work.
I'm not a good dark souls player and if i want to i can blast through the entire game in one sitting easy. Thats all just from knowing how it works.
@Banyek There are plenty of other games that will be suited to you, why must Dark Souls become one of them? Rather than expecting every game to cater to your needs, just look for those that do and leave the other games that people love the way they are alone.
Dark Souls certainly isn't for everyone, but then, it was never meant to be.
@Banyek Evidently your a casual gamer, most of us hardcore crowd like a challenge and get bored when games spoon feed us, playing a game in god mode would be nails on a chalk board to me and I would be embarrassed to admit it.
@Banyek actually lets hope its not more suited to you....no offense but the challenge excrutiating challenge that is, is what draws us all in :) i like these games more than crack!!!
@Banyek Design flaws that everyone loves for some weird reason I personally find the game interesting to a certain point then I get bored with the constant drag of hoarding souls but hey to each their own.
@edwardjkenwayac lol ...didn't we all. i think i died maybe a couple hundred times
@Swaghard Which is why these trailers are more like 20 teasers.. they don't really show anything.
@pcty Like another poster said, they won't be. In fact, Games For Windows Live is shutting down. I think they're using Steamworks this time around.
@pcty They wont be using it.
@Thumbler76 You must hate Pac Man.
@Thumbler76 Curious....the "76" is that when you were born? Honest question.
@Banyek @3lgringo no they dont deserve it would lose demon/dark souls meaning if u could lower dificulity or something and this is far one of the best rpg out there with your called ""elements"" and who needs story? if you get gameplay amazing if this game is too hard for you its clearly not for you if u want easier games well just go play something else
@VegasDawg @Banyek If I really think about it, I am a casual gamer... I like storyline in games, and I like playing for fun! i DO admit, that I hate this sort of brutal challenges, where I have to start thing all over again and again, dieing all the time, but theres a point where its joy, and there is a certain limit , where its sort of a job, to get trough a level . Dragons dogma, Gothic and Risen and these kind of games found this sort of fine line between frustration and fun, and I think what makes a hardcore gamer, is that he can pass this line without loosing any of the enjoyment... So yeah.. Its just that I dont get it.. How can someone play the same frustrating level for hours until its finally done, and then feel good about all that unnecessarily spent time..But I think its just how different people are..
@push88 No, but I don't play it since 1986, if I remember well.
@sadscooterpipe yes. why?
Have any of you heard of grammar? Or at least a period ffs. I can not take you serious with how you write. "didnt had the patience for it". Sheesh...
1. Thank you for not planning on purchasing Dark Souls 2. I would not call it a game for the "casual gamer" as you keep referring.
2. I would not call owning 600 games and playing half of them "casual gaming". I would call that quantity over quality gaming. Mindlessly playing through games as quick as possible so that whenever confronted in any argument you instantly resort too, "I know what I'm talking about. I have 600 games!" to get get some credibility. Well it doesn't work like that.
3. Why are you asking developers to tailor specifically to your needs when everyone who plays the game and enjoys it do not want it to change in the way that you're asking. You died in demon souls and raged quit. Cool story bro, tell it again. We don't care and it's not a significant enough reason to change a game.
The franchise obviously does fine without cheats or easy mode to bring in mindless gamers who don't care about anything but getting the highest kd ratio or unlocking all the achievements as quick as possible to move on to the next game. Sorry you didn't enjoy demon souls, but don't try to ruin it for the rest of us.
@Banyek I understand your frustration with the difficulty of these games, but I however, like most people kept playing past the 5 deaths on said bridge. And eventually after a few more deaths you pass the said bridge point with new playing skills learned and its glorious.
@Banyek yes u better do that this game is just not for you and hey its fun to die on bridge 5x times when 5 zombies spam attack you
I completely agree with you... But think about it as a developer. Some of those costumers, who found the first game frustrating, or didnt had the patience for it, will not come back again as customers. So the core audience of the game will shrink pretty badly. Just a code, or a cheat, or something unconventional that gives chance for a bigger audience can mean the financial future of this franchise... just sayin...
becouse theres a lot like me out there, sort of "casual " gamer, who will pass on the next one, only becouse I died like 5 times on a stupid bridge....
Look if this difficulty is sort of a trademark of this game, than ok,its a clever developer decision. but its kind of stupid, that people below call other games spoonfeeders , and virtual movies, becouse of this game....becouse it looks to me, that theres not much else behind the hype BUT the difficulty...coz lets face it. if youd take away the high difficulty, DS is as mediocre as it gets... its just my opinion... now im going to play something else, maybe architectural history for my exam tomorrow....I ucked up waay to much time here with my stupid comments
How hard can it be, PLAY ANOTHER GAME, and let us who likes a challenge play this.
Some people wants to dope themself to win the olympics, and some people really trains several years to be able to compete at the olympics.
I guess you're one of them who just wants everything served on a plate.
I'm also a casual gamer but I dont see the problem with a game that's difficult, it's not IMPOSSIBLE.
So what if a bridge level takes 4 hours of dying to complete?
It'll just get more exciting when you finally pass it.
If you dont like this kind of challenge then go to another game.
You named a few which you tought balance was great, so go play gothic, DD or risen?
@shadiezz2012 you wont be missed.
@gameroutlawzz I grew up playing pin ball in arcades in the 80s kid and seen the entire life spans of fledgling gaming companies come and go shut up and troll somewhere else its the internet get use to different opinions better yet go troll ign that's where your kind belongs.
@sadscooterpipe Well, I always try to be honest and at the same time I try to explaing in a fair language my point of view. Like you I don't like the very aggressive language that often is used by people online. It ruins the game experience and/or a civil discussion in forums, comment sections and similar. I'm quite surprised that noone has called me retarded yet for my opinion on Dark Souls 1-2. But this can still happen! xD
I will be hitting 40 before too long myself....grew up on the Atari 2600 and NES and knew that this would be a hobby for a lifetime. I find myself almost avoiding online anymore because of the behavior that exists and man, THAT is what makes me feel "old".
Point is, it's nice to come to this site and see a post that isn't riddled with console hate or some other manner of insult directed at the subject or others. IMO, there are way too many people who write with keyboard muscles (no one cares) and it was simply refreshing to see a post that said no thanks in a polite manner and then supported why.
I wish more of this existed here and society in general. Be well.
