Already bought. Liked to play the the game on the beta but I still prefer DoW2. Resume. PC still owns by far.
Not for those who enjoyed simple features like the Ready button, custom map weather, that nice lobby system where you could tell what all your friends were doing, well built UI, decent sand bags, barbed wire and tank traps. I hope you like clicking a button that toggles the chat window visiblity in the game lobby because the bloated oversized features of the current lobby even scaled up to 1920 x 1080 can't fit it in.
The overall community for this game is just very odd, much slower adn smaller than expected for all the money they spent on marketing, some of which milked the same video ending.
One more reason the PC is superior - being able to overlay a picture-in-picture-esque box to show the interview while showing the full game!
I can't wait for this, haven't played CoH1 in years, but never really forgot about it. I was just playing Rise of Nations the other day (want to again now that I'm talking about it) and these classic RTS games just don't get old.
I've been playing the open beta a bit and it's great, though the German side plays sufficiently similar to CoH 1 that I can't buy the game on the MP/skirmish alone. I hear a lot about the heroism and grand scale on the Eastern Front, but I still don't know how that translates into the actual campaign. What variety of missions exist in the campaign? What is its structure? What is the basis of its narrative? I can wait for the game reviews, but I was hoping for enough info to make a decision on pre-order.
Game is really fun and challenging, though there are some serious balance changes that need to be made. Mainly with flame trucks and the speed of the German Panthers, kind of ridiculous when the tank is faster than the turn speed / turrets on RU tanks.. I have no problem with the flame trucks, but they need to be more vulnerable to AT gun shots. Right now its rare that even one or two AT gun shots will slow the thing down to give yourself a shot in early game... Either way, I am sure they will get it figured out. CoH 1 had similar issues with American tanks and certain abilities...
Cutscenes don't look blurry anymore with closed cameras and character detail is also hugely improved . Those who say that it looks exactly like first game , needs to play the first one again if they forgot how it looks like , specially in closed camera .
A lot of respect for these guys. This game looks awesome! I'm excited to see this part of WWII, too. It's cool to hear that working with Sega is going well for them - nice to hear some good news about the company. I hope this game is a hit for this studio.
Loved the first Company of Heroes and still play it alot and this looks amazing, just wish my laptop was powerful enough to play it, It couldn't handle the beta :(
They need to give Russians an IS-3 or make the ISU-52 better against armor, cause Russian armor just sucks. ISU is a tank destroyer and panther laughs at it in 1v1 or even 1v2, not to talk about IS-2. Make it expensive but there has to be some armor that can go toe to toe against panther or tiger when they turn that on..
And before ragers start raging I know how to counter German armor with t-34's and stationary guns, satchels or etc... But it still sucks when 1 panther can take on four T-34-85's with long barrels. It's like not even worth calling them out.
By the way I was laughing my ass off when they said tiger can go toe-to-toe with IS-2, it can't even go toe to toe with Panzer IV. They gave all Russian tanks heat shells, wtf.... do they play the game themselves? KV was more effective than the damn IS-2.
I tried the open beta, but was left unimpressed. In terms of graphics, its more of a downgrade. In terms of gameplay, nothing new. Two new mechanics - occassional blizzard and destroyable ice - don´t justify sequel.
doesn't look much different from coh. that's great for coh fans but im not much into coh overall. I love dow and I really want dow3 to be like dow1. I hope relic makes dow3 after coh2
I have really enjoyed what I have played so far in the beta however I have not been able to finish a game as it crashes at about the midway point every time :/ (even after I have downloaded the 13.4 driver update). Hopefully that is ironed out before the beta ends so I can get a good feel for whether or not I wanna purchase the full game.
@Chrypt22 those weren't issues but balance elements, a Sherman was always more agile than a stug, and could easily circle strafe it, even in real life
@Sajuck-Khar Yeah I can agree with you right there, also there are some more historical and realistic inconsistancies that can almost frustrate someone who's really into WW2. Like the Soviet "medium" tank destroyer as in the game. Was actually a heavy tank destroyer in real-world which was able to take out panthers and even tigers when properly utilized. Also the T34/76 in the game is rendered with the turret of a T34/85. But yeah. What you're refering to is just all caused by trying to balance the game with the tons of new abilities, units, and weapons. But on your last comment I must say that I have felt that the IS2 can do a lot of damage i.e. take out multiple panthers and still last through to the end of the match. Though, one Elephant could pretty much snipe the IS2 from an extreme (to CoH standards) range and still remain untouched if you went toe-to-toe with someone who knows how to play CoH.
@Sajuck-Khar Sorry mate but like too many Soviet players (probably new to the franchise), you simply don't know how to play. If you're losing 4 85's against a single Panther, that is pathetic. I don't even lose four 76's against a Panther. The ISU-152 is an assault gun that fires HE shells, not a tank destroyer that fires AP shells, that what the SU-85 is for. Learn how to play and know what your units are before you whinge away. And how the hell is the KV-8 with a 45mm gun better than the IS-2? There were less KV tanks built than Panthers in the war, in fact the IS-2 was based on it. Even Soviet tank crews didn't like the KV tanks. Really don't know where you get your facts from. And learn how to play better. Use the fog of war. Combine infantry AT, AT guns and tanks. Use the ram ability. SU-85 gun is stronger than Panther. Most tanks have longer range than their LoS.
@Sajuck-Khar If you lost 4 T34 to 1 panther, you are just bad. T34 and ram ability disable any german armor.

@miser_cz overall presentation COH2 improvement is minor if compared to the predecessor. However, the gameplay does have some major tweaks and improvement for the community, just that only fans and hardcore COH2 fans will enjoy.

I didn't lose 4 of them to a single panther myself, but I saw it happen plenty of times on both sides, whether I would be playing german or russian. I win about 70-80% of my games so I think I'm a decent player and I know all the counters in the game. With that said, if germans are allowed to roll out 6-8 panthers, there are no counters in the game againts them (that's in 4v4 which I like the most). That was besides the point though. The point is that russians have nothing late game to counter german mass armor. Which means this game has little strategy and is all about tactics. In essence there' only 1 strategy, u either deny germans early game, or russians will lose 90% of the time. Now you can argue about what counters what, but that's tactics and the game offers only 1 winnable strategy, - as german u hold out to roll out armor or russians to deny before they do.
What I meant about KV was not meant in any way to compare to reality, this game is as far from reality as u can get (I know cause my grandfather fought on russian fronts and lost all his limbs thx to it, heard plenty of stories from him, plus WW2 history is a bit of a hobby of mine, so I know). What I meant was that I found KV to be more useful in the game than it should be. As for ISU-152, the model they give in the game, armed with the 152.4 mm gun, carried both AP and Heat shells during 1943. So the TD should be much more effective against armor. Heck it was know as "Zveroboy" (beast Boy) cause it could destroy panthers, tigers and tigers B like nothing. While it did not necessarily penetrate heavy armor, its shots would rip the crew inside through spalling or disabled the tank by ripping its gun apart even if it was a close miss. Were are taking huge shells here. So please don't lecture me on accuracy of the game to reality. The whole point is that the game is nothing approaching it. Same as WOT this is a game and not reality so I understand the difference, but my point is that by resembling reality a bit more they would enable more strategy and hence improve the game.
Now Is-2, they got its role pretty well, it wasn't as effective against panthers and was primarily an anti-infantry and blockade buster, but that's why Russians need to buff ISU-152 at least or give IS-3 (even though that would be again unrealistic as IS-3's did not see battle in WW2). But my point remains, soviets should get (maybe a more expensive version) of a tank that can go toe to toe with german armor.
@cytheh @sammoth @Simplythebest12 Agreed but, it was THQ Shut down for a while when THQ went bankrupt. The Financial backing was coming from THQ. All I was saying is it might affect the outcome of Warhammer 40k Something I hope doesn't happen. I should of choose my words better.
