awesome but damn they sure didnt work on the graphics O_o srsly! that looks like a gba game omg come on, the ds can do WAY better than that..
Actually, Square and Enix were both independent companies untill they merged in 2003. Though Enix published outsourced material (including Dragon Quest which was penned by juji horri, an actual founder of enix) through the use of royalties, Chrono Trigger was a purely Squaresoft title. In fact, up untill the rise in development costs caused by increasingly more complex hardware and financially unsound decisions by both Square and Enix caused the companies to merge, they were independently traded companies. The two companies were actually compettitors in the videogame market, more specifically the rpg genre.
hellside: "it is the same, nothing changed but the "Square ENIX" thing" Actually - even that really didn't change. Square-Enix made the original game (yes they started out as Square-Enix, then they broke up, now they are back together again). Square has the better artists, Enix has the better writers... but they still haven't used their reuinification to their best abilities.
It's cool that SE keeps CT alive throughout new generations, but I am really looking forward to a whole new sequel - with the same type of system and characters, but with new gen graphics (no - Crono Cross does NOT COUNT). In any case, at least the old is alive.
I do hope they change the box art for the new release. I still have the original box for the SNES game, and it has its nostalgic charm. But the cover does not even make sense. It shows Marle shooting fire out of her fingertips while Crono is about to attack with his sword. Just one problem - Marle does not have the power of Fire ever, that is Lucca. Marle only has Healing and Ice magic.
Timeless classic. This game is still in my top 5 JRPGs of all time, along with its successor for the PSone Chrono Cross.
Gave me goosebumps just watching it... ...til the end of course. How dare they stamp the name of "Square ENIX" on a SquareSOFT project.
This Game is EPIC let me say it again EPIC i've never encountered a RPG like this and i doubt i'll ever play another one that had me so hooked!
Absolutely outstanding. This is going to be a be a must by for myself at the very least. Chrono Trigger was the first RPG I owned, but not played. It's still one of my all time favorites
I still play my SNES file every once in a while trying to get all my characters to 99 there all at 75 now, that factory in the future where those enemies pop out is definatley the best place to level up.
what tha????Look it was a must play game for the snes nowdays for the younger if you haven't play this on snes then it's time to play it on ds the game rocks...one of the best rpgs i played and with very good story...
this rpg was so HARD by the time i played it.. i couldn't finish it! the atmosphere is unique.. u don't see such games nowadays.. this is the best rpg ever. Period.
Can't wait, after hearing so much about how great the SNES original is, I really must have this game to see for myself.
Darksigil... I actually plugged in my SNES and started playing this game again yesterday. All of my old saves are still there, too.
My favorate game comin to ds, greatness. I just wish they could make brand new quality RPG's like this for the DS instead of all these remakes. A secret of evermore 2 would be so nice. Castlevania is the only series i can think of thats kept there great classic style gameplay while introducing new rpg elements that make it funner then ever. Game developers need to do the same with these snes style rpgs.
@ enisguy i agree that the game is really great as it is. BUT it would be fun to see it with new graphs but only if they would leave the old gameplay alone. but nothing is like playing the old games on the old consoles :P
hsvrocker you can surely use an emulator but there's NOTHING better than carrying such a classic on your pocket. besides I have more important things to do on my PC than playing on emulators. Things like, you know, MY JOB!!!!!
To all saying that they should have remade this... It's perfect as it is. What needs to be remade? Nothing needs to be changed in this game in my opinion, not even the graphics.
i am really dissapointed they didn't remake it like the old FF games. if you want to play this version you can just get it on an emulator :(
I never played the original myself, but apparently it's the best thing since sliced bread. Perhaps I should give this thing a shot.
The game looks awesome, however, I'm definitely not waiting for a "TBA 2009" release date for Europe. It looks like I'll be importing this!
If Squeenix remade Xenogears -- THE FULL VERSION without the skipping from boss fight to boss fight garbage on the 2nd PS disc -- I would cry tears of joy and could die a happy man.
Yes this is indeed the greatest game ever made, played it for countless hours throughout my life. I'll buy it for the DS because it does have some bonus material I'm interested in seeing, and also if it sells real well Square will probably want to do more with the series.
Very glad that i'll finally be able to play it. Everybody talks about this game like it was handed to us by God himself. Looking forward to it.
"Hot new trailer"? Where is it? They basically pulled gameplay from the SNES version and added an "Available 11.25" at the end.
i know this moment will come, thats why i not finished chrono on a emulator (that, and i was too young to create a strategy to beat it Dx) ... this music is so EPIC...and the designs are from akira toriyama... GREAT!
