This game seems to be a super awesome f2p mmo. More customization, and more content and power/travel/costume options than dcuo has right now. I would rather play this than like all the other f2p mmos available right now if i did not already have a lifetime sub to DC Universe Online. Super power themed games are AWESOME! We need MOAR!
@TBear7130 Dcuo is cookie cutter pick up and play action packed on "purpose", they will probably be adding more power sets, and it serves me well. Its fun in that its not too complicated or unbalanced, i can come back to it anytime and slaughter massive amounts of monsters without feeling like a gimp that picked the wrong powers! Also combat is more interactive than most games you must block and dodge instead of just standing there spamming skills from a ridiculous tray full of 20 abilities that all basically do the same thing letting your gear do most of the fighting. DCUO's combat you have to perform combos, and block/dodge/roll, and you get like 6 skill slots, potion slot, and a trinket(special item that can do various things, i have a forcefield trinket that makes me invincible for 10 seconds, and another one that increase my crit chance for 30 seconds for example, and there is tons of different kinds of trinkets) I prefer that combat system more its funner to me than playing the "standing still behind your gear while you skill spam piano", which gets lame fast.
@reyveign Yeah i did not read that much about champs just skimmed an article or 2 about it being f2p, and i begun to worry that obsessed players would be able to pay with microtransactions for items/powers/weapons more powerful than what silver accounts can get, making playing on a silver account torture, but from what you say its not like that i guess. I installed it and loaded up my free trial character from a long time ago, to my dismay his custom powers and cool looking armor was stripped, its a cool free game i bet, but not for me(maybe if they had introduced F2P sooner, like before DC Universe online came out i would be playing it)
@Electrokah You don't seem very well informed when it comes to Champions Online. You should go have a look at the FAQ on the free to play aspects of the game before you go spouting off. The Free to Play (Silver) accounts are very similar to the typical MMO style with "classes" that have predetermined "skill trees". Paying for a gold account unlocks ALL skills and ALL cosmetic options. Free players are on par (and depending on how one makes their Gold character... they can be superior) to paying players. Gold membership just adds conveniences in storage, physical appearance and diversity options.
Well DCUO sucks and I was looking forward to going back to Champions, but the model they are using destroys fun and playability of the game. You can only get a cookie cutter character with no ability to make yourself different or unique from any other f2p. There are ways to maintain the fun and playability why integrating a p2p model. With no skills abilities or customiztion besides looks, the thrill of this game must have also been made p2p. Made a decent game that simply did not differentiate itself into a joyless, no options, tedium.
