Everything I've read points to Champions being exponentially better than COH. I may check this one out when my new rig arrives.
Neogenic Posted Aug 31, 2009 11:58 pm GMT I can honestly say, that this game is a great game for anyone that likes super hero games. This is basically City of Heros, but with a lot more options then before. Especially the travel powers have improved a lot. If you want my advice: try it. I hope Cryptic gets you guys a free trial, so you can judge for yourself.
Having Played the Beta I must say the first 10-20 Hours are a blast, but as soon as you go past level 10 the difficulty to solo, and the rate at which you gain XP grinding makes it very unpleasant to continue. I hope you fix these things as I found myself with few options once back in the City.
Already got plenty of character / power ideas i want to try out. I doubt this will be a long term commitment but who knows, maybe i'll be pleasantly surprised (read: Hooked)
the beta was sweet and ive been waiting for a year for this to come out THIS GAME WILL BE EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Look, this is an mmorpg. You can't expect it to come out at launch and dragon kick you into the sun. There's going to be lots of initial balance changes..and no, the character creator doesn't let you create virtually anything you want to. But it's the best character creator in any game ever made...end of discussion. You have a VERY wide array of things to choose from. The graphics are not crap....in fact, they are way WAY more impressive than warcraft. Not to mention....unlike WoW, this game is actually fun and the dev team isnt sitting on an upside down bar stool while they sniff glue. You will feel more powerful here at level ten than you do at eighty with full epics. It's new and fresh and hey, at least they havent announced that the new expansion is a reskin of the old game. Blizzard sold out. These guys want to actually make a fun game. Need I say more...
doesn't look like much, lets hope it doesn't come out to be a crap like other games with super heroes
im going to quit w.o.w and play this for bit i wana try some thing difrent the warcraft to much ppl ask for somany shttt yust to do a dungen lol and no one help so i wana try a difrent online game this game look verry fun but not that great but i will try it yes
Have you seen the images? the graphics look like crap, its like something from 10 years ago, I bet you it'll be more like 6.5 score...
Sick of bloody documentary style developer's diary. Load of geeks who really shouldn't be allowed to talk to people waxing lyrical... show us the goods! GAMEPLAY GOODS!
let's hope is not going to be a major deseapointing like other games where ppl had high expectations..( ex: spore) and turn out to be kind of empty, with many things missing from the game...over all its wave rising in the horizont...we need some scfi mmo
@ turgo25 looks good, to all who complain wait till the final version. How dare you confuse the guys in this post with your common sense and truthful logic, this is outrageous behavior.
all these videos put a huge focus on the creation part... what bout the actual gameplay and flow of the game through leveling? I can see this game having an amazing character creation and then a very shallow game. but who knows, it could be amazing all around.
From what I played in the beta the game is pretty great, PVP is pretty balanced, but based on how freely you're able to customize your hero, it's easy to see how some people would build a crappy hero and think everyone is stronger than they are. I didn't really experience any game killing bugs in the beta, some of the quests were broken but they were just spawn issues. Definitely picking this baby up on release.
am playing the open beta right now and i find it dull and uninspired. the classes fight and feel all to similar. that's a big disappointment! sure the hero creation part is diverse, but that's the only thing really. the loot system is boring. i have been waiting for this game for1½ year, but now i don't even think ill be playing it when it is released. i regret i pre-ordered it. hope DC online will be more fun :(
Wolfie600. I've heard all over the forums that it's still a work-in-progress but they are planning to release it in Feb 2010. Not totally sure though.
Pre-order + lifetime sub, and I haven't backed down C: I only experienced crashes right before they took the server down after the OB, and I belive they'll have that fixed for the launch.
PvP also is so unbalanced, it's almost impossible to win a PvP match if your playing as a melee class against a ranged class.
Game was riddled with bugs and exploit and this was YESTERDAY. Do not get me wrong, I enjoy many things in this game. But compared to other games that were "not ready" for release this would be in the top 10. A few more months of fine tuning would have been best. Lets just say I can exploit end game bosses enough to 1 or 2 man them. Performance wise the game runs great except for some FPS issues on even top of the line systems. I guess Aion will hold me over till STO, old republic, or the new FF online. Best of luck though, I do not want to see most MMOs fail. It may be fine until Marvel/DC universe comes out.
This game suffers from terrible bugs and malfunctions: Quests not working, every player getting kicked of the server every 10 seconds, problems when entering portals, server malfuntioning, client not working properly, .... So it's best to wait a month or 2 after release to buy it, or just wait for DC Universe Online, a game which looks even better than this one.
looks very promising and very interesting. I will follow the info about this game. And please, the Aion fan boys. Lets go to suck the balls to other place please. I hate aion
Many of the questions you are all asking have been answered (at length) in the discussion forums for this game. Just click on the forum link on the left hand side of the page. Many beta testers have been posting updates with new information. Onto the impressions of this new video preview: - The Character Creator: My God, screw the beta, I'd be estatic just to play around with this feature. The more I see of it the more I want it. I'm a character creation junkie, and have been known on more than one occasion to spend upwards of an hour building a character in other RPGs, play through the intro/tutorial/what-have-you, and then immediately scrap the character and start over because I didn't like the hair style or accessory I picked. The process in this title looks streamlined yet mind-bogglingly expansive, and there should be no reason no one can get their character to look exactly as they wish. - One developer mentioned that the ensnare power will function more like a mini-game than a simple hot-key click. That just shows how this game is really trying to revolutionize how MMOs are played, and makes me even more pumped about the release. Whether or not they can pull it off though, well, that will just have to be seen.
Yes, there will be a monthly fee for consoles. This is because you do not need Gold to play it, therefor the "We pay $50 already" arguement is not valid. Cryptic makes their money off sales and fees to keep the servers up and add expansions.
This game looks promising for the console owners as long as there is no monthly fee, we already give 50 bucks a year. Any one know if they will have a fee?
