Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Spending Time in the Woods Gameplay Movie
Gabriel meets locals and savagely blows them up.
@dwizzyak I don't need to think before I type anything, I already did. This game looks completely familiar to me. It's true that many games remind me of many other games, but they didn't even try to be different. I'll probably get it, like I said "when it's in the $20 bin". We have enough DMCs and GOWs now. Why didn't they try to do something different? I'll tell you why: they just did their "market research" on what sells and what's trendy in this genre, then made it that way without even trying to make an original, 3D entry into this franchise that I've enjoyed for over 20 years. It's just another coat-tail rider.
@OGSEYBABY I agree. I still prefer the 2D Castlevanias and their RPG style upgrades and such. I think certain series (Castlevania, Street Fighter, Mega Man) simply work better in 2D. I also feel that current devs are trying too hard to pander to stuck up "online" gamers and insecure adolescent males. You know, with the whole "raging badass" protagonists and all.
While Castlevania LoS looks pretty cool, I'll stick to my fav DS/GBA Castlevanias. I'm neither a 360 nor PS3 owner. And I'm not gonna run out and buy either for a handful of $60 games.
@acidrain1976 Ruin it? Think before you type something because when I look at this game, I don't see anything being ruined. Rather, I see a franchise that I love being ushered into the wonderful world of 3D gaming. If you think that this game looks like others you have played, I ask you, which game doesn't remind you of another game. And also, even if this game rips every single game that came before it, who cares if its enjoyable? Check this website out: http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/castlevania-lords-of-shadow
Meh, maybe once it's in the $20 bin. It looks like I've already played this game many times before. What a letdown. I knew they were going to ruin it. Dammit...
I wish they would just come out with a 2d console castlevania already like SOTN with next gen graphics..bring back the rpg like gameplay and exploration that worked so well with this series.
He did nitpick a little, but I feel the people commenting are reading too much into his critiques. Every review is going to mention references to previous games. One because they're there. And two because it's a quick easy way to relate to something else the reader may have experienced. And the scores are just guides. I regularly pick up and enjoy rpg's (mainly jrpg's) that rate in the 6s. In the end it's just an opinion and maybe a guide to help. Not an end all be all verdict.
Gamespot reviewer seems to associate too many games with others so their reviews are just not good anymore. This game look sick enough for me, so why should i care about people comparing this game to other good game? It only means to me that this game is good like the others
Give the reviewer a break. In the end, it comes down to personal preference. If you like what you see from the demo, buy the game, if not, don't. If you are not sure, rent it first. It is just simple as that. No need to bash on the reviewer just because you don't agree with him.
This surely hasn't anything to do with Castlevania except for the name which is the reason they gave it since the name sells. It's more like Prince of Persia combined with Devil May Cry I guess? Furthermore Video Failjima for sure was responsible for this; I'm disappointed they let him get his hands on such a series as Castlevania. A big plus though seem to be the graphics; they look really beautiful! But where's the music which made Castlevania so famous? Ah, I forgot: This has nothing to do with Castlevania..
Wow can we complain a bit more and make more comparisons to other games in the same review. It's a good game leave it at that. I am so sick and tired of reviewer from his site always comparing games. It's not like many games have originality anymore. So glad I don't use this site for to help me make a decision weather to buy a game or not. I would of missed out on a nice amount of good titles. Here is a complaint can we have another monotone review of a game. Sounds like its being read off of cue cards. Terrible.
