Comparing a game developed for a console, specially 7th gen, and then ported to PC is pointless, unless the game receives a special treatment taking into account the power of the PC the only advantage you really have (without tweaking settings directly on you graphics driver) it's resolution.
The same low res textures, low poly models and fast antialiasing methods are still there, and the PC will surely make them look better due to increased rendering resolution vs the upscaling on consoles (PS4 and X1 remediate this to some degree, but we all know there's titles that run 720p or little more and are upcaled to 1080p, not to mention the 30fps cap on some of them)
Using this as a reference to argument on consoles vs PC is just fanboy/troll food, so, good job on that regard gamespot :P
i think this happened on purpose, so people should go buy ps4! There is no way ps3 cant play the game like on pc's, still....
btw good job for the article!
Aren't you tired of this? There is no way that consoles from last generation compare to PC in graphics. What could you possibly hope to accomplish? stupid.
who cares about C:LoS2 graphics comparison..? i still played castlevania on my good ol gameboy anyway
Is that all video game sites do now is "compare" graphics? Really sick of it. I don't care. Games are about having FUN, not which one has a little bit better graphics or 720 vs 1080 wars. Everything is about creating division in our society now days, sick of it.
I've got it for PC but honestly, it's not worth running out buying a 400$+ PC just to have these slight better Graphic's when you can buy a Console that runs the Game just fine with nearly as good Graphic's for 150$.
Damn... you would think 8 years will make it a whitewash comparison, but really the PS3 holds on it's own very very well. Respect.
Lol, decide between PS3 and PC... Really? not a console vs. PC debate, unless of course your PC is 8 years old.
Yes I was looking for that since it arrived. Thank You Gamespot!!!!................................................................................
I am just kidding who gives a shit about this and please gamespot stop fueling the console war.
Lol so stupid, when you do a comparison you don't record cut scenes, they are going to look exactly the same, you should have just don't some game play of the first level.
Ps3 or pc, it isn't Castlevania anymore, but who cares? Only I and a few other old-timers, so practically none gives a damn. Enjoy the game!
i have a question about the 360 version. I ahve this game but unlike other games the graphic becomes heavily pixelated during high action and fast moving sequences. you can basically see squares in the smoke or in the weapon animations and stuff like that. Is anyone experiencing the same things? i do not have that issue on the other games i have. should it be a title update to fix it?
What?! PC can produce better visuals than 8 year old console hardware? I doubt anyone saw this coming.
The choice is obvious, I'm playing it on pc 1080p/60fps high/ultra settings and looks really awesome, really the DEMO doesnt resembles how the game looks like.
I like this game but for anyone who wants to play it remember it's just like castlevania symphony of the night, you need to get back to places you met before but using new abilities, but in 3d, not like LOS1.
Well, the PC versions can usually be better than PS4/XONE. That it´s better than the PS3 version is quite obvious.
I know you got I But I think you missed an angle / and a variation of \ :) I generally go with console unless the PC is considerably better... but just crappy enough for my crappy PC to handle. Nice to see the dif though
@fersay777 I have both, and let me tell you, if the game is released on PC that's the version I buy. Also, you're wrong about the bugs. Usually PC and console versions share the same bugs, and PC versions are the first being patched because it's easier to release a patch for PC.
@randy56069 Maybe because LOS2 is not a PS4 title?
@Ravanofdarkness also PC games tend to get cheaper over a shorter period of time so you might save a bit on the console hardware, but if you're gonna buy and play games, you'd probably save more money in the overall run of things if you go pc
@Ravanofdarkness Speak for yourself, it is worth it to me. I just can't play games on PS3 after I have seen how gorgeous they look on my machine. :)
@Ravanofdarkness I highly doubt anyone would buy a PC just for playing this game....
@dfrmrvbn You're right. DayZ is amazing. Just kidding.
@Gamer_4_Fun I wonder if it is because it's aimed at the console market and the graphics were dumped down so it could run on PS3, nah, probably not, that would be crazy.
@gipsy_danger you are right
@ReadingRainbow4 What a shitty comment.
Go troll somewhere else..
@ReadingRainbow4 For you, and anyone wondering why that may be about the game, take a look at this. http://nextingaming.com/2014/02/28/mercurysteam-dev-cites-problems-with-castlevania/
It's pretty sad, that a huge ego had to ruin this game. Not to mention the other problems in the studio.
@Gelugon_baat haha I hate that sound, like when have you ever heard someone make the noise in real life? It crops up in the beginning of The Witcher 2 and I cringe a little every time I hear it lol.
Then you're an idiot that only looks at graphics (and even graphics apthat as of today are NOT that huge an improvement) over playabilty and fun... Certainly not a gamer...
@walterg74 I don't play on monitor since HDMI became a standard and each videocard had that output, so i play in a SONY Bravia 42W800 as you ask me.
Don't let other commentaries blind your sight, i've playing on tv since Radeon 5780 which allow you HDMI support and tv's came that way, or is it that you don't even know how a PC game looks like? if that's the case sometimes when you first see images of a new game which looks graet on console and then when you play the game doesn't looks like the one they show, it's because the image came from the original version taken from PC
I know what it looks like, and play games that are pc-only. For the rest, it's not worth the hassle and definitely not playing catch-up every 6 months to have the best hardware. There's a reason pc gaming (for aaa titles) accounts for so little of the market...
