Capcom Shares Extra Details on Ultra Street Fighter IV
Peter "Combofiend" Rosas and Matt Dahlgren of Capcom share their thoughts on the upcoming Capcom Release at EVO 2013.
back in the 90's capcom's pretty much the KINGS of fighters, beat em ups......now they're the king of greed lol
Hey Capcom I want you to meet my fav Xbox Mr. Jtag. Mr Jtag is only use for greedy ass games companies such as you Capcom. Oh look at him he is drooling over your Ultra Street Fighter IV. Buy the same game with FOUR old new again characters!
Balancing has been added to the OLD but new again package that could of been added through patching like Mortal Kombat 9 but WHY when we can SELL OLD NEW AGAIN!? 8D
Marvel at the SAME graphics. No new features. Patched character balancing to be made more viable for underplayed characters!
Yes, all this and more of the same for just 14.99 or what we'd rather have you do, buy it new again for 39.99! >8D
Don't worry! We'll be sure to make at least a few characters DLC only! Because you LOVE paying for stuff that should already be in the game the first time!
UMvC3? Why go Ultimate when we can give you ULTRA SUPER ULTIMATE MARVEL VS CAPCOM 3 for just $39.99! This time, you not only get the free spectator mode we sold back to you anyways, but Shuma will be half off to all players of USUMvC3!!
Did we mention we're adding in FOUR more characters? That's right! You now get to play favorites such as Sean from Third Strike, Leo from that one game you WISH you could forget, Zombie from RE 1 and Gladiator!
Now with more of the same new stuff you asked for but will never get!
Marvel vs Capcom 2? If we could go back again I'd a charged you all 5 dollars for every character over 12! could we'd have to throw them 8D
Breaking news capcom surges ahead of ea for getting cheap profits ,as far as i'm concerned i'm gonna wait for the "ultra street fighter super duper alpha theta edition", hopefully it will have a new charachter coz right now its just profit making by copy paste from sfxt
Seriously,.... I love Capcom and I love street fighter, but for the gods sake why the hell are they trying to sell this as a new game again!? I dont care what they add to it at this point its still street fighter 4 and there have already been multiple re-hashs and now this?! Do they expect their fans are dumb enough to not realize this? Wasnt everyone mad enough about all the extra money they wanted just to unlock extra outfits for the characters?! Do they really think their fans have more money to waste on a game they have already played/beat/own? Honestly, its an insult to the people who have stuck by Street Fighter from its inception, and I do not approve!!
You know why Capcom continues to rehash these Street Fighter IV games? Because there is a frightening amount of people who are stupid enough to keep buying them. I mean, this has got to be the biggest scam in gaming today! Right up there with The War Z.
The fact that this types of shit even flies goes to show the dumbing down of the consumer base!
I feel sorry for the early adopters when it comes to Capcom's fighting games. They make you wish that you would have waited for the latest (and perhaps greatest) version of each title to be released. i made the mistake of buying Marvel vs Capcom 3 (with the fancy case and art book ) just for Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 to be released months later. Since that Incident, I have been a little more patient. I have yet to buy any of the Street Fighter VI titles, which is a good thing after hearing about this announcement.
If street fighter4 , then super edition , then Arcade edition, then tekkon vs Street fighter and all the DLC wasnt enough, now you can buy the ULTRA version....................................................................................................................................., you would save some money if you just pretended this didnt exist, if you already own any of the above.
One thing ....isnt it time we got to create our own characters in these types of games and own move sets? Like why cant i create a Ryu kind of character but with a little of Blanka and a touch of Chun-li with my own character design? And cooler yet, create my very own custom Ultra/Super power moves.
F Crapcom I love street fighter but this has just gotten out of hand! lazy As developers man they messed over street fighter x tekken now they bring out the same game again after releasing this game 3 times already -___- get real crapcom why not do something new to the franchise give the characters a new move set and then have the classic move set selectable to or a way you can mix the classic move set with a new move set stop putting out the same game over and over again. crapcom you suck money grubbing lazy copy and paste devs you give us a incomplete SFxT now you bring this mess to the table ???? am I gonna have to pay to get pass the start menu this time ?? or is " insert coin" going to flash at the bottom of the screen and I'm going to have to pay arcade prices for a game I've already purchased ?? nice going Crapcom!
They hire the same guy who names the Power Ranger seasons, right?
Power Rangers Megaforce
Power Rangers Super Megaforce
I'll pass. Half of the roster locked in the disk, abusive priced skin dlcs, shitty netplay.
Fuck you, current board of capcom, for destroying the best fighting game company of the world systematically in the last few years.
Ultimate MvsC3 10 months after MvsC3? I don't forget
Half of the roster in SFXT locked, even after paying full $60 for the game? I don't forget
5$ dlc to unlock 4 skins? I don't forget
i think the new character is asura from asura's wrath though i would prefer GARUDA from the EX series
And then they will have to create these upgrades/versions: (from PC GAMER)
- Hyper Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition
- Venti Street Fighter IV
- Super Ultra Street Fighter IV: Family Size Edition
- Super Giga Street Fighter IV: Jumbo Turbo HD Dubstep Remix Ultimate Frisbee X Tekken III Kart
- Street Fighter IV: Origins
I hate SSF4 with a passion but I could not stop myself from playing it again. I am a abusive relationship with it. I know there are fighters that a better and I enjoy more but it is something about SSF4 that pulls me back in.
I don't mind them making more dlc for it as long as its not hurting them making SF5.
Capcom is cutting and pasting all the characters and most of the stages from SFXT and still charging $15? The only real content here is the one new character.....who probably is mike haggar and he is basically a cut and paste from marvel vs capcom. To say it is a bigger instalment than Super or AE is a flat out lie. They should have just released the balance patch.
Oh and don't get me started on how they are shafting all the series faithful by only letting people new to the series that buy the complete disc get previous DLC.
Cashcom at it's finest. When will they learn to stop squeezing money out of the FGC and caress it out of them instead?
Anyway, I'm a big SF fan so I will be getting this but reluctantly....I hate the Capcom business side but love their FG dev team.
Seeing videos of SFIV always make me want to play the game. I dust it off, place it in my disc tray and start the game, be beaten 10 times in a row without touching the other player, to finally choose to replace it on my shelf for another 3 months.
After ultimate, super, gold, turbo and now ultra, i wonder what Capcom can come up with for a new subtitle.
This is getting beyond a ridiculous trend of Capcom's. Asking us to buy
a game that is essentially just the same game patched slightly with
additional characters stapled on the side at RRP for a new game? You've
done that with Street Fighter twice now and with Marvel vs Capcom 3 as
well. Handing over 20 to 30 quid for minor tweaks is insane. Doing it repeatedly is even more insane.
.........yeah......one will think hey lets make it a five but wait we can still make a super duper version of 4 yes yes lets go whit that -sigh-
I just want Mike Haggar in SF... Cody and Guy are there... i know Zangief is basically a carbon copy but i bet they can make a GREAT new Haggar for SF !!!
"Thank you for listening to us?" Minor game tweaks are not features to tout as major selling points. In an age where online patching is available balancing should be expected.
It is good to see the overall disapproval toward this release. Do the bare minimum and slap a generic logo over the old title, no one will be the wiser! Capcom is almost cartoonishly villainous. I can't wait for the next X-Treme Street Fighter with a backwards S so you know they're really shaking things up.
Thank you for listening to us Capcom! The SF community really needed a balancing patch because of the high damage vortex characters and unblockebles. The extra characters are a really nice added bonus too. I only wish this would of been released earlier, but oh well.
Shows that you really care and take pride on your products after release, unlike Nintendo and other companies.
@Double_Wide Here's another perspective. They may try to rake in more money like what they've done in the past with arcade.
That's the story of the majority of the industry. It pays to wait...between DLC and different versions of the same games being released, those who purchase games on their release day end up paying more in the long run.
I mean you would think that since so many developers are against used game sales that they would give more incentives that encourage/reward buying games upon release.
This day in age, its always smarter to wait on all things gaming related. Besides the inevitable price drop, there's the Ultimate/GOTY/Complete editions that come out for the original asking price of the base game.
@YesSheWill im actually doing that kind of stuff with a lot of games now. SKYRIM including, i actually waited for the Ultimate edition or GOTY edition to arrive before touching it. Now i own legendary edition from STEAM, less bugs and more content and paid 27% of its original price when it had no DLC yet. Im even waiting for Borderlands 2 ultimate edition before buying. waiting not only allows for way cheaper games, but ironically you get tons more content for a much cheaper price also.
@YesSheWill Sadly, CApcom is not alone in this. Many fighting games have a bunch of character or stage dlcs (such as Injustice and Dead or Alive 5) that will inevitably come bundled on an "ultimate edition" of sorts.
That is why I'm yet to buy Injustice, some time next year the legendary or whatever edition will go up for sale (as DOA5 ultimate edition goes this september). Tekken is the only franchise that I haven't seen that, yet.
@meatz666 preach!!! what game is your avatar from ??? it looks very familiar like from a old playstation game I just forgot what it was
@princehaos two girls were announced.....
@Filan_13 I hope not!!! That character REALLY SUCKED BALLS!!!!
@Pilgrim117 Trick is to focus on learning one character at a time don't jump around. Fighting games have to parts . 1 is execution and that's like actually being able to pull off combos and what not the second is strategy because if you cant land a hit whats the point of being able to pull of combo's? You can only improve so much offline though it helps to find someone online whos willing to help you. I could go on and on but theres too much to list here. I suggest checking out srk.com
@Alverez meanwhile, madden, cod, AC junkies are paying 60 bucks a year to play there beloved franchises, which most have far last staying power.
Anyone who actually gives a shit about this, is going to be out 15 dollars.....
get over it.
An update to a very consistent and still flourishing in the tournament scene, fighting game is ONLY a positive thing to all who care about it.... and if you have yet to get into the game, for 40 dollars you can purchase the complete retail version of ultra and get an amazing deal all things considered.
Nothing about this is ridiculous, and to even consider it "insane" only demonstrates your complete lack of knowledge and grotesque disregard for the subject at hand.
And no one is asking for SF5.
sf2-ssf2t 3 years,
sfa-sfa3 3 years
sf3-sf3 3rdstrike 2 1/2 years
sf4-Usf4 4 years
troll elsewhere please
@excelprevail It's Raziel from Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
the specific picture is from the cover of Soul Reaver 2 if I'm not mistaken :)
@ThreeVo @Alverez I think you need to update your definition of troll my friend. I'm not seeking to elicit any outrage of sorts as per the actions of a troll. I'm merely expressing my opinion that these updates are handled in a highly bizarre way. I don't think the updates are major enough to warrant a brand new title is what I'm trying to say. I may have just abbreviated my opinion in a highly ill condensed manner. Having owned both the original Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV, I can say there was little difference to the core gameplay and game mechanics other than a few tweaks to supers, the little nerfing here and there to balance things out and with a few new modes (online was improved substantially) and (admittedly quite enjoyable) new characters to extend the roster. Similar games have done so without going standalone with the new content and I personally think that the updates they provided for Super could have been done via dlc rather than a stand alone title.
Reading a bit more into Ultra (very wary these days when it comes to franchises, especially the only known franchise that I broke a controller in sheer frustration xD) I'm glad to see they opted to do so this time, a retail version of Ultra serving like the game of the year version of an Elder Scrolls. But I'm not sure what makes the idea suddenly manageable now. Back when Super was released they cited the content was too big for a DLC. I only forked out another £25 or so quid to get Super because it was marketed as the end of Street Fighter IV (and thus I needed to have it). Had I known about the Ultra edition I might not have spent that.
Agreed about the franchises like COD, Madden and the like. They exemplify to me what is wrong with the video game industry these days. I played COD for a bit. When I'm paying full rrp for a game I want that game's single player to last more than five hours. Piece together the story modes of COD 1-3 and you've got more than a serviceable campaign length for a fps. I don't mind playing games for the multiplayer at all. But when I can expect my copy of a game to be rendered obsolete within the span of a year, then what exactly am I paying for? I mean I still play DBZ Budokai 3 for the love of god. That came out almost 10 years ago. xD
