Call of Duty - Seven years of Multiplayer Innovation
We look back over the evolution of Call of Duty to remember all of the innovations the series has brought to multiplayer shooters.
I didn't know video game innovation meant copy-pasting the same maps into every new game and charging 60 dollars. and then 15 more for each map pack that we probably already saw anyway.
More like Seven years of... Never mind.
I stopped watching when he said "No disrespect to the WW2 series".
No disrespect to the dip$hit on the tube, but COD 1-3 were the (at the time) some of the best years of FPS gaming for me. I loved the WW2 series and not including these is a huge mistake. Though, I guess i'd prefer 1-3 have no association with the MW/BO at all!
Anyone knows about the Background Music in this video please? :)
I believe innovation has its limits. However, these games will always be fun and people will still buy them.
I have boycotted this franchise for sometime. People lining up to pay money for a slightly modified iteration of the last version encourages this behavior from game designers. I am excited yet skeptical for the next generation release. Will they serve us a perfectly baked but stale bread only to package it up and sell it as new? AGAIN!
7 Years of Innovation...
Yeah sure okay... If you count changing how people unlock various weapon, perk and killstreak rewards, and how killstreaks work.
In the mean time the ridiculous "aim down the sights" and ageing grenade indicator gameplay mechanics have not changed in all that time.
Innovation? Hardly. Battlefield had persistent stat tracking and upgrades well before Call of Duty did.
The screaming kid "I got a nuke" pretty much sums up the amazingly mature gaming community that makes up COD. Thank you for including that in this video.
Call of Duty: Seven Years of Raising Little Shit Kids Whose Parents Are Too Lazy To Raise Them Themselves. Fuck Call of Duty.
I probably dislike COD and particularly Activision more than most of you, but still, what is up with the conspiracy theories?
Every time people disagree with a gaming site, the comments fill up with "*$@ paid them!"
Come on... Grow up. People can have different opinions than yours without getting paid to fake them.
Look at all these hate comment, 930 comments from people who still hide in the closet pretend to hate on a game they know they are going to rush out and buy on day 1.
Isn't this a great pr way for CoD Ghosts to get more sales. Activision really went as low as possible. "Yeah let's bribe GS to praise our little series so Ghosts will be Mhhhbassive success".
Lowest of the low, period.
im pretty sure activision came to some kind of agr££ment with gamespot for this video as well to make us all feel nostalgic and further more make us buy ghosts. they can of course....fuck right off.
Are you sure you didn't mean to type Stagnation rather than innovation.
This video was funded by Activision.
Haha, meanwhile COD developers are saying...... "IF THEY HATE THEN LET EM HATE AND WATCH THE MONEY PILE UP!"
CoD: Ghosts has a fresh coat of paint on it, by the looks of it. for example all weapons have zero recoil and again looks like kids will eat this game up. No skill necessary. sorry to say. GS calling what Activision has done to the cod franchise as innovative is laughable and quite frankly, insulting to gamers that know the facts!
Call of Duty 4 couldn't really have much said against it, but beyond that, adding more things to unlock the longer you sit there isn't what I'd call "innovation".
Beyond COD4 the only things Chris actually said were "You unlock more rewards for killing in a row" "You can customise your character" "They changed level unlocks to currency accumulation" "Points for doing absolutely any mundane thing" "You can customise your gun" "You can unlock perks in game" "They added bots" "Changed kill streaks to something almost identical" "More flag-based modes" "Attachments for guns" "Let you pick different things at the beginning."
In all seriousness, none of those things are innovation, and I didn't ignore any of what Chris said. In fact hardly any of them change what you actually *do* in the game at all.
I just spent most of the video playing spot the difference.
So we have the same multi since MW... and nobody havent notice that they gonna release a dlc map of a building falling off? Yea... COD have to return to COD 1 or 2...
this was most definitely paid.
@RainIsMyDrug Right... Very logical.
I buy things I dislike because I hate myself... Or something...
@RainIsMyDrug Nah. This is a troll video aimed to provoke people who dislike the game. So I think most people who comment really hate it.
@enesjusufi as soon as i saw the title thats exactly what i was gona say
Oh and lets not forget the ultimate stupidity of COD... 15 bullets and the guy still alive, 1 knife to the toe is insta-kill.
Umm I'm pretty sure it's the same with almost every FPS
No it's not. It's just a mechanic to slowdown gameplay for consoles. It also takes away alot of the skill level because everything moves slow due to everyone "aiming down the sights".
In UT everybody sprint's all the time (not your CoD kinda fire disabling sprint) while jumping over lava and at the same time shoot perfectly, because they took the time to gain that skill.
Aiming down sight is a good thing.. Point and click is in the past now or just go play counter strike
CoD has stagnated the whole videogame industry. People can kiss a goodbye to their favorite game series', because chances are it has been CoDified.
Enough reason for the hate.
