The Call of Duty games would be much better off if they had LONGER single-player campaigns.
I mean, with 4-5 hour campaigns, why do they even bother putting it in at all?
If they don't care, just make the CoD games multiplayer-only games, since that seems to be what everyone cares about these days.
I really want to play the CoD games, but I'm not into multiplayer at all, so it doesn't feel worth it to waste my money on the games with 4-5 hour campaigns.Too bad.
i do not now about you but i,m not buying this game to be a hero i,m buying this game to have fun and i bought it and and i,m having a hell a lot of it and i just like to add that this guy does not know how to review such a great game and he made it look like a lousy horror movie over one level but i ,m not the loser the loser is the idiot that does n,t buy this game
Completed in 5.5 hours, but they were the most intense, exciting, on the age of the seat action packed hours I've had for a very long time. Plus multiplayer is gonna get played for the next 12 months! lol, worth every penny...
@playstation_dad The difference is obvious. Good vs. evil and if you can't clearly see that than you have some issues. You killing innocent people.... HELLO!
Good review, however they just showed the scene that you are given the option to skip? Anyone who has just seen this review who might have been offended may already have been. Not me included, but maybe Gamespot should have thought about this.
I agree with Epicurus-Reborn. Although the story mode was dark and gritty that doesn't discount the story as a whole. Good doesn't always triumph over evil without innocent blood being spilled. People would like to believe that we live in a world that's just and fair. However, how often is that the case in nearly any facet of life? I liked the IGN review's criticism of the story more than Gamespot's. IGN's focus was on the lackluster way the story itself was being told not the morale dilemmas of its content. This criticism has foundations which are more objective than simply saying "the story is bad because some of its content makes you feel like a villain instead of a hero." If a game's story causes a powerful reaction--good or bad--you will remember it.
they should feel ashamed of them selves the game is fascinating personally ido n,t now how could they not give it a ten and all of that just over a camping i played the game and i could almost say that could n.t even blink and i,m sure that would still sticking my eyes to the tv even if the game did n,t have a camping at all i could honestly say that this is the best war game ever made until today and its defiantly worth a ten only a blind mute retie guy is the only one who could not give it a ten !!!
in short words people ... they were focusing on the multiplayer ...and it was like they gave the campaign making to a 10 years old kid
No mention to the lackluster PC limitations at all. Well paid Activision, looking forward to Modern Warfail 3.
i feel like gamespot highly misunderstood the storymode. Its not intended to tell a story of "good always conquers evil" Its supose to show hypocracies in mankind and in warefare. It takes some balls to say some of the things this campaign says and they are ideas worth expressing. But they by no means make the game worse...
Blacklstermage said- "I can't help but wondering...why does the reviewer say the plot is "bad" and victory does not feel right just because you are not always playing as the "hero". Is there something wrong with playing as a "villain"???" comeon man its a review site!!he has to be poltically correct to keep his sites rep!! i mean u cant call killing civilians badass and loads of fun right?
What the hell i dont understand how because a game has depth and delves into the moral grey areas its a bad thing? its more realistic than "One man versus an army and wins, while saving hundreds of children and women at the same time" I had reserved my absolute for gamespot letting me down but now i can safely say, Gamespot really is not good for reviews
This was a bad review. It showed way to many spoilers. Im glad I finished the campaign before watching this.
I finished it yesterday,in less then 5 hours,on "recruit". It was really entertaining, like a very intense roller-coaster ride filled with eye candy and great gameplay. Didnt try out the Mp yet
completed veteren in 7 hours, to short to easy saying that cant remember having more fun in any other campain, blows your hair back
I can't help but wondering...why does the reviewer say the plot is "bad" and victory does not feel right just because you are not always playing as the "hero". Is there something wrong with playing as a "villain"???
im glad it didnt get a 10, would have liked a longer SP, sick of games sp getting shafted so the developers focus on multi-player, over all though , awesome!
This is a great reveiw, and a great reviewer, and 360 multiplayer footage is used to show of the best of online gameplay, GAME ON GUYS! :)
Great to see an unbiased look at a hyped game. Sure while it may be fun, if you're going to have a single player portion to the game, keep it on par with the rest of the content you have to offer IW. $60 for just the multiplayer? Lucky it's damn good otherwise you're screwed, but really your just using an established formula and giving it that little bit extra. Funny how people compare it to ODST in the comments, I guess it's fair. Both are easily expansions, one just expands on the single player and the other expands the multiplayer without either changing the formula. Both great games, but think about what you're really saying before you go and call this game the best of the decade. Either you've been asleep in the gaming world to notice but there have been far more revolutionary, inspired and influential games in the past ten years (hell even this year *cough* Uncharted 2 *cough*) than this one, including both Halo and Call of Duty's instigating entries. Plus, this decade ain't over yet. Cool your jets fanboys, this is just a sweet expansion to an already great, established franchise; nothing more. 9 out of 10 is being damn generous if you asked me, but then again, it's Call of Duty right?
@playstation_dad I think the main point wasn't that you were a terrorist, but that the mission has you killing innocent civilians. When going against militia or another individual that is armed to kill you, its a different story...
wow this guy is the best reviewer gamespot had in along long time! But why is gamespot always only using 360 footage of multiplat games? its getting kind of annoying !
Yeah I agree. this guy is starting to get more and more at ease in front of the camera (he wasnt at first). The others are still really bad though.
@ zae333 i agree with u on gta4 its a dosent deserve it.but GS has a week point when it comes to gta.
Thank you gamespot! They should make a lite version that is only the multiplayer, feels like thats what most people buy it for.
Loving how they refuse to touch the PC version with a 10foot pole :D But console-wise yeah, fully agree, great game, great review.
@Ronin893 Whats the difference to making you a terrorist (when in the game ur actually undercover) than making you a soldier killing militia, its all the same you kill people! Yes the airport is a dark level but so what ITS NOT REAL..... The game has an 18 rating and it warns you before you play. You dont even have to pull the trigger at the public you can just walk through it and admire the building if you want!
I was expecting better than 9.0 given that I've played through the campaign and loved every minute of it. I'm normally very critical of reviews and don't agree with handing out 10's, but this is far better than a 9.0. The gameplay and the production values are both top notch. The only thing they could have done better is to have a co-op campaign, but it seems no matter how much I wish for it, it's just not going to happen.
I'm quite perplexed by the plot issue.... sure you dont feel like a hero perhaps but the plot itself was awesome dark and gritty and a little bit like actuall life....(not my life but real war life) people are bastards, bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. good guys dont always do good thing and that made it all the more real... only issue is that it's to short.
finally gamespot has revamped their video review look overall i would say Resistance 2 is a way better game.
why are people complaining with 9. that is a very good score. there are so many games out there with 8 or lower, and 8.5 being about the average. 9 is a great score and not too many fps should get 9.5 or 10. eg. i would be more than happy to get 90% on a math test or something like that.
@b0sse I totally agree with you.
