square enix help us by shutdown this game; i wait a long time for a finish game but there just too many.
The moment I see Squeenix has its dirty hands in a title I ignore it as they have repeatedly disappointed me for the last 5 years, maybe even longer. I knew FFXIV was gonna be a major fail because apparently they couldn't even get the registration down right, after days of trying to register I hardly ever wanted to play FFXIV.
I've also played all FF series, from FF1, yes 1, tactics, to FFXIV(I still do). All I can think about right now is that SE is focusing way too much in the visual aspect and releasing shallow games, FFXIII and FFXIV come to mind. 13 being the best example as it is a finished product, the game was beautiful but like Animatronic64 said, had 0 depth, like a supermodel, just has to be pretty but they have nothing to say. That doesn't work in the gaming industry, games WILL be labeled as bland. Fortunately, FFXIV can be improved, it is not a finished product, SE is in fact adding interesting stuff and developers seem to be actively listening, 100% of the changes made in the last patches where extensively disscused in the lodestone forums by players. Also you have to think the game it's in its very early stage, been out for barely 4 months. I'd venture and say 90% of MMORPGs suck at release, with limited classes, buggy combat system, low content, etc. WoW was fine, it had it's share of issues but it was under development for how long since it was announced?, had YEARS of "beta, alpha" testing. We got FFXI (at NA) with already an expansion and was out for over a year at Japan., same with Aion, it had over a year (2 even) at Korea before we could try it out and gamers were still not satisfied. So bashing your head into a tree over people defending the game, a recently release mmorpg, is a bit... extreme, to say the least hehe.
Perhaps FF series should change their RPG style to next level like what demons' souls does. it was just getting norm.
@Leviathanwing If they don't hold any water, explain to me why the Final Fantasy XIII ISN'T insanely repetitive and dumbed down. Frankly, there's more evidence to suggest that Final Fantasy XIII is the most underwhelming title in the main series. Considering that the majority of the game consists of flashy auto-battles, with the occasional paradigm switch, and walking in a straight line, it's safe to say that this game has no depth as far the battle system, or level design goes. There is simply no sense of exploration, or reward, besides maybe getting to the next cutscene after being tortured by battles that are repeated to the point of complete monotony. What happened to things like towns, cities, or villages with actual NPCs to interact with - the sidequests - and more importantly, the fun? Really, what the hell happened? This is like Final Fantasy stripped bare naked, and we're expected to think that this is some sort of "evolution"? This is just about the same kind of evolution as music artists dumbing down their work to appeal to the mindless masses, who clearly have no taste in anything other than utter mediocrity. How anyone can think there is nothing wrong with current Final Fantasy games, is beyond me. Every time I see people defending this garbage, I want to bash my head into a tree until either I die, or it falls over. To this day, I hate myself for playing through this game, and hopelessly expecting it to get better.
the comments about final fantasy being bad lately and why square doesnt just keep a formula dont hold water. no 2 final fantasys are the same and just because YOU liked one over the other doesnt in fact make it better. the mmos never really floated my boat but i cant comment because i hate mmos in theory and practice. i personally enjoyed every final fantasy ive played and minus the mmos and 9 and those nintendo platform games ive played all of them since 6 or 3, however you look at it.
@gameM1080: Final Fantasy XIII is not a game that suffers from prejudices it's a game that simply sucks. I played it all together with most final fantasies to date. It's a pathetic excuse for a game and a shame to the saga. I honestly don't understand how anyone could enjoy it.
i dont think they will ever make a game like ff7 or 8 again cause it might take them too much time and yea i hope ff14 will be fixed with the new management team and dispite the fact everyone says ff13 scks its really a good game dont prejudge games before playing them
Well they put a new management team on FF14 because it's been doing so badly. Got their best guy's on it now tho. So hopefully it'll turn much better. Tho i personally liked FF14.
I hope FF15 will take us back to the days of FFs 7 thru 10. How could they have lost sight of those so badly???
thats too bad about aliens vs predator and ff14 they both look like really beautiful games. Both of which I was looking forward to playing, but I guess not now :(
@Jonyunotme108 I disagree. They improved on FF11 a lot and they know a lot which is why I was so damn surprised about FF14 when I entered the world. It was such a disappointment and I don't know why they did not just keep the same formula and try to improve upon it. Instead they went for something new and terrible. I am disappointed in the direction they took and lately all the FFs spewing out have been bad. Why does Square feel the need to change what works? It makes no sense to me. I used to buy every FF but for now on I will stay away until the series gets back to the glory it once had. In a way I am glad this happened because they are not going to get away with bland products anymore. They used to be on the same level as Blizzard as a company but that's just not true anymore.
i want to buy this game... but my PC is really bad in requirements... so im waiting for the PS3 version... but it has been delayed... idk when is going to release... but im sure going to keep an eye out for it... probably will get it... last thing i need to know is how much for subscription for the PS3, or if there will be any subscription at all... hope not ^^
square just has to stay away from mmo's its not their forte, instead on attempting to improve on 11 they should be finding ways to improve on 13
I must say i agree with FFXIV being the worst game this year, also the most dissapointing (at least for me). It's not something you can fix with bug patching it's the core design decisions like the horrible quest system, and so on... After XI this game should have been the best mmorpg of all time not the contrary.
I'm actually playing and enjoying it. The patches they've implemented have done a great job of streamlining the experience and I can't really complain about the developers extending the free-trial period indefinitely (beyond the two-months mentioned in the video) until they feel the game has met the community's standards. While criticism is well-deserved of this unfinished product, I can't help but get the impression that it's simply popular to hate on this game and that no one at gamespot ever gave it a second chance after some huge patching was done.
