im hyped, this looks really good. It would be nice to see what new directions it takes since a straight metroid clone would wear thin
This is the only thing I didn't want to see :-( That doesn't remind me of 16-bit games, especially that dumb shooting.
The art direction and specially the music are completely disturbing in the most pleasant way possible. Level design looks like a Super Metroid rip-off, which, don't take me wrong, it's a compliment. Maybe that's why so many "Metroidvania" games (even Zero Mission and Fusion) are always cool but not as cool as Super Metroid: they don't drink enough of that fountain and Axiom Verge seems to be doing just that. Tile-based scenery is also seems straight from SM. I want it badly!
well i just hit up the game's website... seems that i was right - the main character is basically intended to be an average joe. fair enough i guess. just got done watching this trailer about 10 times in a row, so stoked for this game can't wait for it to come out!
i really dig the artistic direction of this game... as i said in my previous comment it reminds me of the concept art for the original alien film (especially the image at the end of the trailer).
the only thing i worry about this game is that the main character looks extremely generic/uninteresting. that could very well be intentional but i'd like to see them make the player character stand out more, make him look like someone who could stand out amongst a gathering of 8-bit/16-bit icons and we'll truly have a winner. give him upgradeable items/armor through collectibles and this game will rock
this looks freaking amazing. reminds me of metroid and alien, and is basically everything i love about games summed up in a 2 minute trailer... MY BODY IS READY
...and here I was feeling nostalgic for reinstalling all of my old emulators to play some 8-bit/16-bit era games. This game shows a lot of its inspired roots, but that only makes me want to play it just that much more. Feels part Contra, Metroid, Castlevania, and Blaster Master all rolled into one.
I've been dying for a game like this on my pc, anyone know any good castlevania kind of games I can get preferably for mac?
the developer should have been alive and making games in 1992 so I wouldn't have to wait so long to play this.
@Unreal-Aeon Cave Story?
@TheKungFool It depends on how successful it is on the XBox and PC - I don't have the resources to do multiplatform development on my own :( Though I have my fingers crossed that Sony's Gaikai acquisition will lead to some interesting cross-platform possibilities.
