Assassin's Creed: Revelations Desmond's Ancestry Explained
The writer of Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Darby McDevitt, demystifies Desmond's ancestry.
Okay so they aren't related but who is ezio's ancestor? I think it was his great grandfather who build the villa but how did he happen to come upon altairs armour?? And the whole story in the crypts? Ezio's ancestor meeting niccilo polo not long after altair meet him? It made sense that they were related, I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering who ezio's ancestor was, did he come from the same branch of assassins as altair? Or a different branch in another country?
@Danny_1993 Both altair and ezio can be from one of desmond's parents, he doesn't state when both their bloodlines come together just that they aren't from the same bloodline. for ex. ezio could've had a kid with altair's descendant and their bloodlines would've crossed. but it can also be the same as you state. it can be any mix up that's what makes it so good.
@charmenk it's like this (only an example) Ezio is a descendent of Desmond's father, while Altair is a descendent of Desmond's mother, so the first time the two bloodlines meet is with Desmond (and it will continue with Desmond's kids) And also, when the writing said "MOAR BLOOD LINES" I actually burst out laughing lmao
WHAT? EZIO ISNT ALTAIR'S DESCENDENT?! woha thats new... so... Desmond's parents are the ones with the two assassin ancestors?
They've done a lot of keeping their options open is what they've done. That way they're milking this IP for the foreseeable future.
@canadian_sharky @tmbow27 They've already revealed that Ezio is hunting after artifacts known as the Keys of Altair. Apparently these "Keys" have memories stored within them, and those with the proper Bloodline (meaning a descendent of Those Who Came Before) can access these keys. It's a way to keep them useless to the Templars, unless the Templars manage to recruit someone of the proper bloodline. As for why Ezio is so interested in Altair? Well, one could say he's the Founder of the Assassin Order as it currently exists within the game universe. And after his little encounter in Rome, which was actually aimed at Desmond, rather than him, he's stuck with more questions than answers. So he could very well be hoping that Altair might have left behind some clues as to what the answers are, and what the heck is going on. Long shot? Mayhaps. But then again, so is jumping off of a building and trying to land into a bale of hay or a cart filled with flowers. ;)
Okay,so Altair & Ezio are not related in any way,but Desmond is related to both of them, right?Okay so,when we finally get to Assassins Creed 3 or 4,THEN we hope we might get to see a female that's related to Desmond (great, great, great, great Grandmother?).Now she might have certain tools & abilities that the men didn't & can't possibly have that'll be intense. Ezio's story will end (sort of) but we'll possibly see a different scene in the life & times of the Creed.
@ tmbow27 I agree. Except there is one other franchise who's story is deep like this. METAL GEAR SOLID.
This just makes me wonder why Ezio is so interested in retracing Altairs path and why they give the impression Ezio can somehow re-live Altairs memories. I assume there are good reasons. I've never seen a game with such a deep and well thought out storyline.
this just gives me the idea that they are going to have like 4 more games before we understand what is really happening with desmond. (trying not to be pessimistic here lol)
Oh this looks interesting, i always wondered if Altair and Ezio were related and where Desmond came in, so this definitely clears it up for me.
@Crash_WL: My thoughts exactly. THIS makes me somewhat interested. I'll still wait and see if they split up the MP community like they did with ACB. I love AC for story, but enjoyed MP too. Story I can catch up on YT too, gameplay is what I'll buy the game for.
I was not excited for Revelations, since the first moment. I feel that 3 games, following the same character, in a series revolving around ancestries, different eras and history, is tiring. However, I might buy it on the first day now, as I'm eager to find out more about Altair and how they're connected. Altair was always the real assassin for me, he was silent, mysterious, deadly. Ezio took a while to become really mature - not that I minded, he's a really interesting and well played character -, and I felt that Ubisoft just rode on AC's success to make those 3 games. I don't want AC to finish with ACIII, but I don't want Ubisoft to mindlessly milk the series without offering anything substantial.
Stratospher65, Ancestor can mean a lot of different things my friend. Mario said it in the way of Altair is the Ancestor of the Assassin Order, the one that took them a step forward as you will see in Revelations.
Desmond is projected over them, or rather, the same model is used with differences...you want proof...I've uploaded it here: http://www.imgftw.net/img//823266273.gif
@kean_cade "My presumption that Altair and Ezio are related is from the fact that Ubisoft made them look alike by a lot." actually they look alike because animus projects Desmond upon them
My presumption that Altair and Ezio are related is from the fact that Ubisoft made them look alike by a lot. For those who played AC1 and AC2 or maybe just hit up youtube you'll see they made Altair's, Ezio's (younger years w/o the beard) and Desmond's face model look exactly the same complete with scar across the upper and lower lips on the right side of their mouths. They should've made Altair's face model different from Ezio's and made Desmond's a combination of the two or just follow Altair's or Ezio's.
So, so excited is not the feeling I have now..... please tell me what is more than so, so excited. I want to know the name of my feeling...!!!!!!!
3 games, 9 games or just one... i want my assasins creed 3 to be in japan... i don't know how they'll do it but ninjas are the most awesome assasins for me!
I wonder if this was planned from the beginning because Altair looks a lot like Ezio, if not identical to him.
@pinky08_09 yeah but they might make AC3 like AC2 and make more then one game to tell the whole history and do the maths .. AC1 = 1 game AC2= 3 games so AC3 should have 9 games !!! Lets hope not
Maybe on next AC we'll see a ninja assassin. Desmond must be a mix of assassins from different civilizations.
Desmond is really a very special boy, because it's almost impossible to have all that blood lines having only two parents. His parents themselves are very special mom and dad. He will probably discover that he was "manufactured" to have all those memories. There is NO WAY that happened "by accident".
I was hoping this would explain which child of Ezio's leads to Desmond or how Desmond is related to them through his father/mother.
Agreed on the female statement Perhaps a Spy/assassin would help flesh out a feminine fatal type theme
To clear up the confusion, ac 1 was about Desmond visiting Altairs memories. Ac 2 was Desmond visiting Ezios memories. Ac 3, we don't know what it will be about. The thing is that Ezios ended up being such a good character that it spawned ac brotherhood and ac revelations. That doesn't mean 40 ac games. Ubisoft has already stated that this game finishes Ezios story (kinda like a trilogy inside a trilogy). And that desmond story will continue for 1 more game. AC 3. Of course there will always be room for more stories but desmonds story finishes in the next game after revelations
