I'm all for a change of gameplay because i haven't really been interested in an AC since the second one, but i don't know.... the ship fighting looks too arcadey (that ship sure turns on a dime....certainly better than any MODERN ship this size does) for my taste. If you spend your time taking out ships left and right like there's just an endless supply of them, ill soon get bored. I understand AC is an action game, but if you're gonna have elements such as ship fighting...well i find that going full arcade just doesn't appeal to me cause this is stretching my suspension of disebelief further than the concept of an hyper acrobatic badass assassin. I think ship fighting should happen infrequently and be a challenging and rewarding experience when it happens. as it is, it looks to me like a shooter on the sea...... I COULD be wrong. I wish i'd been available when Ubisoft Montreal called me to playtest this...
someone needs to make a one piece pirate game like this, recruiting your own crew , fighting against the world government and other pirates, which increases your bounty, crazy ass oceans and massive sea kings ( pretty much massive sea fish ) you know that kind of shit. this still looks awesome though!
I'm looking forward for a great Pirate ADVENTURE! Cuz its been a long time since a good pirate game. The naval part of AC3 was fun as hell. The whole AC thing after AC3 end I dunno....
Oh no! Pirates!
No, I mean it; I really hate pirates. Boring 'aarhh'-saying idiots. Sailing out to sea....ugh.
this video would have been better if he didnt have to stand so close to the damn green screen
or better if he just didnt stand in the screen
I will buy next gen then.. Actually most of my purchases will be on next gen.. GTA 5 is the last game I am buying for current gen PS3
MORE ASSASSINS CREED NEWS
that's like a dozen in a matter of 3 days or something,
Milk the News why dont you just like you're milkin the series.
anyhow, this game does look promising, but fighting mechanics looks the same shit over and over again!
there is still so much they could do with this series like a japanese assassin with awesome ninja tools, or an african setting where you are like a shaka zulu type warrior, or an aztec campaign where you are like one of the jaguar warriors.
I'm psyched for this, I dunno why everyone is having a whinge. I don't think AC3 was bad. also you all whinge because the addition of pirate activities and shark killing makes it "not an assassin game anymore", if they changed or added nothing you would be having a cry aswell, So if you don't like it I would suggest shutting the fuck up and playing the original, while we all buy the new one.
Hope this turns out well. AC3 had great side missions including the naval ones but the story missions were either painfully boring or really finicky and didn't allow you much flexibility in how you tackled them.
Not planning on buying it when it comes out, but I'll definitely keep my ear to the ground.
There is only one thing that I want to know about this game. Will there be assassin missions like the last game where you killed your father, where you get led around by the nose and weren't allowed to use any of your assassin's abilities or tools? O really want to know because if there is even one I will not purchase the game. They took me from unquestioningly loving this series to deeply, deeply, horribly disappointed in just a few short minutes. I can't do that again.
this is freaking sweet... i pre ordered this game because i love all of the Assassin's Creed franchise and this one looks incredibly terrific...
Torture in Blacklist and harpooning sharks and whales in AC4. Ubisoft really is asking for some bad press whent those games come out.
As always the AC games look pretty. This one does, too, eventhough I think you could do much more with nextgen. AC2 is one of my favorite games and I think the problem I had with AC3 was , that in the end what was great about AC2 was that it placed in those beaatiful cities. The nature gameplay didnt really fit and the map was simply too big and not as good maneuverable(since you had way less option like you had with rooftops). That and the fact the endless synchronisation point grinding felt too much like achore. Its not a fun mechanic!
@PeterMillerNo, you are not the only one who think that the idea is from farcry 3, you're just the only one who does not listen. The dev clearly said in the video that "it's like the one you found in Fay cry 3".
@goldglover1025 He is also Aquaman's ancestor.
@Snepstok it's like you never watched a disney film before
@Snepstok wow you're really dull
@aetius_ Diving bell... lots of 18th Century divers used them.
@brok of course they are flying too fast. But look at the speed of these sailing vessels. Realism wasn't part of the plan when Ubi decided to make a farce of this franchise. Story comes second after the cheap gimmicky thrills of ooh! ship combat and whaling. Altaïr and Ezio are rolling in their graves.
@brok you ever seen real cannons fire, they are fast
@johnnybravo29 It's called marketing. It's what businesses do to make money off the game they're investing millions of dollars in.
@johnnybravo29 you get that this is a gaming news site, right? stuff like this happens all the time - especially when they're a) huge titles and b) there isn't a whole lot else to be covered.
@stan_boyd the former two would be fascinating, but they're far from done making ac games, so who knows, possibly in thefuture
@Ayzed No, people hated AC3 because it was mediocre. The trade system sucked, there was no armor, connor was boring as hell, the combat was epic fail, the story was kind of lame, travelling was too repetitive etc...literally the only fun thing was ship battles, that was it.
Oh your a "videogamer" alright, lol!
@xyks2012 This is only the beginning of Next Gen. Seriously, look at the differences between the launch titles of THIS generation, and then look at a game like BioShock Infinite or Tomb Raider.
You've got to give the devs time to really know the ins and outs of Next Gen before you start expecting massive graphical improvements.
@xyks2012 They already got some shit from those PETA nutjobs. They might have been good in the past but they are just morons now for the most part. They should just leave it to the WWF.
Anyway Ubisoft replied to them with this;
"History is our playground in Assassin’s Creed. Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag is a work of fiction that depicts the real events during the Golden Era of Pirates. We do not condone illegal whaling, just as we don’t condone a pirate lifestyle of poor hygiene, plundering, hijacking ships, and over the legal limit drunken debauchery."
@4le_breVVer Who said anything about realism? I'm talking from a game design point of view. Notice I didn't have a problem with the ships turning ridiculously fast. I just thought that lightning fast cannonballs lose a bit of the suspense that enhanced the gameplay of, for instance, Sid Meier's Pirates!
@4le_breVVer how the hell is this a farce? a series doesn't want to stagnate and instead heads in a new aesthetic direction and all of a sudden it's cheap and gimmicky. the rest of us will enjoy the beautiful new vistas while you sit there and scoff
@brok if not go on youtube and look up deadliest warrior joan of arc, wicked cannon on there and what it does to the ballistic gel torso in slow mo is grotesque
@stan_boyd @emperiox @Ayzed It would have been nice if you could have modified Connor's outfit a bit, though. Or upgrade him at all like you could Ezio and have it change his appearance. Even Altair's outfit changed a little bit with every upgrade he got. There was literally no incentive to do anything other than the story aside from getting 100% completion. And the story wasn't even that interesting once you get to Sequence 5.
Gameplay wise though I much prefer AC3 over the previous titles. Everything felt more fluid from the way Connor moved to the combat and climbing.
@4le_breVVer @eddieham13 @xyks2012 Yeah, I mean I was assuming they do condone it and was planning on taking up piracy for a while.
I mean I'm bored of murdering countless people now after playing GTA IV. I'll probably take it up again when GTAV comes out, because I have no free will so i just do what media tells me to do.
Did I mention I have a neural link with Fox news?
