I hated AC1. I Loved AC2 and AC:BH. AC:R was just ok. Then came along the utter shite of AC3.
Simply put, AC4 is fucking awesome. I've played about 6 hours this evening. Its far and away the best AC game yet. If you thought the yearly rotation of AC games would make it stale like COD, you're wrong with this one.
Those of you relating this 9 point rating back to your GTA:V fetish, aren't we all forgetting the HUGE issues with the game, mostly centered around multiplayer (aka, one if the biggest draws to the game)? I'd be willing to bet there are just as many people, if not more, that feel that GTA doesn't deserve a 9.
Really getting tired of these pissy little kids bitching and whining about something so insignificant as a number score on games. Watch/read the fucking reviews and decide for yourself if YOU like the game and leave everybody else the fuck alone.
So since AC2 weve had: Kill streaks, brotherhood system, shop quests, multiple new tools, horse counters, enemies that can swim and have guns, bomb crafting, tower defense, new game engine, dynamic weather, better stealth, enemy tagging, better AI, crafting system, tree parkour, naval combat, naval exploration, harpooning, diving, changing the controls every year (for better or for worse) and free-aim. Yet its still a rehash? Almost half of that stuff came from AC4 alone!
I did buy this game and it is pretty good, but I have too say I can totally understand the confusion surrounding gamespots reviews. Its not that their reviews are written poorly, in fact the written part is usually spot on and insightful, but the score always seems to carry to much weight. the score in itself lacks a distinguished formula, at least I cant distinguish it.
"If there was ever an AC to get the series back on track this is it."
Didn't Kevin Van Ord give AC3 an 8.5?
I promised I would stay away but this website is so full of s*** in how they justify their payed off reviews. Beyond Two Souls ads plastered all over this website weeks before it's reviewed and McShea - notoriously jaded critic - rates it ten points higher than the last of us. This site is absolutely pathetic. Sorry - not buying another overrated AC game.
@Dordledum honestly, you should play AC2 - still the best AC game imo, brotherhood was also great and revelations was ok. AC3 wasnt good enough to keep me playing, but black flag is pretty awesome right now.
@translucent17 It had a distinguished formula before the site change - there was a separate page explaining the scoring system in depth. Regardless, they did not actually follow their own scoring system. Take McSheas ridiculous fucking 4 for Infinite.
Four, according to the system is for a game that is completely broken, lacks polish, and is barely playable.
They don't follow their own systems and never have.
@Alves_911 Except the naval gameplay - the good part of AC3 - is the entirety of AC4. You don't have to go on land except for the story and to drop your wanted level. You can literally spend the entire game just pillaging every ship on the sea if you want.
The ONLY thing about AC4 that isn't better than all the other games is the story - the story is a joke and shouldn't exist.
@xXl_z3r0_lXx@cowcatcher900 "Not a big enough jump in hardware"...that statement is wrong beyond measure?? I agree at this current stage the visuals doesn't look colossally better than current-gen but that is because developers are only getting adjusted with the new hardware and it will take them at least about 3-4 years before they know how to squeeze the juice out and SECONDLY...the *hardware* jump from PS3 to PS4 is MUCH bigger than any other console cycle...check out PS3s specs..only 256 MB of RAM and VRAM..and check out PS4's on google...'nuff said.
@xXl_z3r0_lXx@cowcatcher900 Lol are you kidding my the jump is huge. What in your right mind caused you to say something so wrong. both xbox360 and ps3 had less then a gig of memory. Ps4 has 8gb. graphics card 7 generations newer. and the processor is better. not a big jump in hardware my ass. Developers just havent had enough time with it to start properly utilizing its potential same thing on the xbox360 and ps3 when they first came out. http://www.gamespot.com/perfect-dark-zero/ considered to have cutting edge graphics and sound when it first came out :P.
