The Xbox One has since removed the paywall for Netflix and such. The real test is how the systems age. True the PS4 has raw power, but unless you have a 40+ inch tv there is no difference in graphics visually. The azure server setup has a chance to change games once developers start to take advantage of the potential. Both systems look great though don't get me wrong I just have higher expectations for the Xbox.

Build your own PC.  I have more games than I could possibly play and have paid $4 a piece on average.  ...and I can do real work on my PC.

neither, get a PC instead

PC too comlicated for you? need mobility? get a laptop (Asus ROG laptops)

need a family machine? get a cheapass 360 or a Wii U

It usually comes down to the handful of exclusive titles that you prefer.  If you're a halo fan, get Xbox.  If you're an uncharted fan, get PS.  Or what your friends have and like to play.  If more of them have one system, get that one.  Really not that hard.  If you really want the best resolution, graphics, speed, etc., then build a gaming PC.

For ps4 if you are looking for better graphics just get a gaming computer the graphics are better than any ps4 or xbox.

I'm looking for quality games and an interface I like. I chose the Xbox one, 10 dollar difference in yearly payment, is 100% worth it. I also do not like the controller at all for playstation.

I'm a Day One Xbox One purchaser who was taken in by the $100 lie about the mandatory Kinect. I also purchased a PS4. There is definitely a difference in graphics in favor of the PS4 on most multiplatform games, so much so that I have decided to sell my Xbox One. I wish I had access to this video last November, before I bought the overpriced, underpowered Xbox One.

I'm glad I watched this video; I now know which console is better, after all I want to buy a gaming console for games.  I also know that PS4’s native resolution is 1080p and sadly the xbox one sram is too small to output 1080p so they had to imply tricks and work around to achieve 1080p... how sad for a next gen console. So the PS4 is definitely the best choice for gaming well unless you want to watch Netflix then get yourself an xbox one but... I want to play games, not watch films?

btw I'm not a Xbox hater... I have a Xbox 360 and a PS3 and a monster of a gaming PC

I'm not sure why this got moved up all of the info they are comparing with Xbox one isn't relevant anymore. The point of the extra hundred dollars is not a bullet point anymore and Xbox live is not required for apps like netflix anymore. This video needs to either be updated or scrapped.

Youre always going to get people that prefer Xbox and people that prefer PlayStation. Whether this is because they know the facts I'm not sure, I think its more based on what console they had first when they were younger or had the most memories from. I for one prefer Xbox because the original Xbox was the console I had first. I don't hate PlayStation, in fact I like it but Im just not used to them. Aside from that the next gen consoles both look great. Also they both have highs and lows. They both look cool, they're quite, graphics are great, it goes on. To be honest I don't think there's ever going to be closure on which one is best. It comes down to which one your used to.

These guys are wrong on so many levels.  First, the power of both machines according to all developers that have worked on them are 100% identical.  PS4 looks better on paper, but in reality, the power difference is NOT there.  Second, you get a HELL of a lot more than Netflix out of Xbox Live Gold.  A HELL of a lot more.  Lies like this really piss me off.  BTW, I own both consoles.

I still like building gaming PC's. With all the hardware choices, I can make it mine. Does it cost more? Yes! But I really don't care about spending money on a hobby and passion.

Do I like the look of both new consoles. Yes!

What will my friends be playing? Not sure I care.

What games are coming out and only on which one? I'm keeping tabs.

Choose a console now, buy the other later when prices go down a notch or two. Either way.

Buy the same console again when the "slim" versions come out? LMAO!

Just enjoy what you have or look forward to getting ... who knows what you'll be playing and enjoying 2015 and beyond? Enjoy the next 5-10 years of consoles and PC upgrades all you gamers!

Happy 2014!

I'm really torn between the 2. Ps4 has the hardware but XO has a better controller imo and microsoft announced 1 $billion investment in exclusives, twice as much as Sony. And there's dedicated servers for every game.....

But again, PS4 has the hardware and free games..

ughhh what to buy!!

TroyTrojanGamer

The xboxone is winning hands down on what's out now and what's coming out.  Here is the knock on the PS4 people are hoping that games they have never played are going to be good.  But let's make fair comparisons on the actual gaming aspects not hardware:

Was Forza better than Gran Turismo? Yes.

Has Halo as a series been better than Killzone? Yes.

Have family games/niche games been better on the xbox? Yes.

Furthermore, the big name exclusive games for the PS4 are seriously just not there.  Kingdom Hearts, Metal Gear, and Final Fantasy which are all supposed to be Sony exclusives are going to be on the Xbox.  I'm a current PS3 owner and I still do not see any titles from Sony that would make them buy a system coming up.  It just all seems like wishful thinking from people who hate Microsoft.  Games like Halo and Mario are games you would buy a system for.

Sony already announced that they are going to start charging an on-line fee for multi-player gaming. $9.99 per month or $49.99 per year. So for all those bashing XBOX Live - hold onto your wallets....because Sony is going to be coming for you soon.. For the extra $10.00 a year i'll stick with XBOX Live.

sixt3denied

The PS3 had more horsepower than the Xbox 360 but most games looked better on the xbox. Why? Because Microsoft works very closely with game-makers to ensure that they are getting the most out of the Xbox's capabilities. This will continue with the XBOX One.

And regarding xbox gold - People have no problem spending$400$500 for a next-gen system and then cry about dropping $60 for Live? Give me a break!!!! Not to mention that Microsoft's on-line eco-system is vastly more mature than Sony's. It's XBOX all the way...

I've always preferred the Xbox One. I just feel more at home with it.

But £100 is a lot of money for a Kinect I don't care about even slightly.

I have a 55" TV and see no difference. To me XBOX One > PS4 because of my personal preferences. I prefer the controller, am a big Forza fan and like the Halo and Gears games, and all my friends are there. Do I really need any more reasons from so called "experts"?

@sampson509 DS4 is one of the best controllers since 360 pad. I wanted to get One, but the best exclusives are on PS, been that way since PS1.

Most One games end up on PC, so there is no point for me to get Xbox at all.

Not to mention the return of Ratchet and Clank soon. Best platformer ever made, period.

You dont have to mention Halo cause my fave is Halo 2 on PC.

@scottwilkins Agreed the comment about having to pay $60 to watch Netflix was asinine. XBL Gold goes way beyond any one application. They fail to mention that XBL has free games with Gold (on 360 - not sure about XBone). Even without free games, XBL Gold is worth every penny for the reliability and flexibility it offers us the consumers of these games and applications. XBone builds on that and extends it into something that we will only fully understand once Microsoft starts releasing the exclusive content that it has been developing for XBL on XBone. I for one can't wait for that because up to this point, my XBone is sitting unplayed until more of my friends upgrade (and no none of my friends are going over to Sony).

@gtron8 psn only got hacked one time. And FYI  its called an EXTERNAL INTRUSION meaning that the hackers did'nt take down psn, sony TURNED OFF THE PLAYSTATION NETWORK to find out what was going on.

@MrPotato16 I feel you,i want my first big console to be good so,i am really leaning to get the XBone because of the exclusive BUT i really am a sucker for good graphics and less lag BUT i do not want to pay 60$ a year :l

@TroyTrojanGamer Yeah, I agree the Halo series was great, however, Halo was great until they sold it 343 Industries where they completely changed the gameplay of Halo (Halo 4 was a big upset) and Gears of War Juggernaut completely sucked. The exclusives for the ps3 have been amazing and never disappointed (Killzone, Uncharted, InFamous, Etc)

@TroyTrojanGamer I don't like online multiplayer, the Xbox seems under powered and expensive, I don't need a camera, and I rarely do anything in my living room other than games. and the single player gaming experience will be roughly the same on both consoles.

Ps4 was more appealing to me.

@sixt3denied Yea.... playstation plus pays for itself. Games with gold is a joke.

The ps 3 had a better cpu only, but it was a cpu and software architecture  that the games companies didnt have  a clue what to do with. Only games that were Sony exclusives  looked good. assuming Sony helped them. The xbox 360 actually had a better gpu than the ps3, and this is what matters to games companies. so sorry dude you are wrong in your assessment.

The Ps 4 however trully has  a more powerful gpu and a great architecture this time around . The benefits of which we already seeing , during launch window (games run on 1080p on ps 4 and 720p on xbone). If Sony capatilize on this early victory , This gap can get even bigger later down the line.

thebeachguy90

@sixt3denied Difference is PS3's hardware was a pain to develop for, now PS4's hardware has received universal praise from developers. Hell, some are even saying it's more friendly that Xbox One.  So consider those days over.

PS Plus gives gamers a much better value than Shove-Every-App=and Feature-Behind-The-Paywall that is Xbox Live.

You paying more than £100 for kinect. the xbonem is inferior to Ps 4 in terms of hardware so it would have been cheaper. Its the kinect that made the xbone so expensive. My calculations have the kinect at £150. You say you prefer the xbone one, thats fine i assume you dont care about graphics, thats fine.

is not a joke, it's still pretty weak against PS+ but it's not THAT bad

lucalus

@thebeachguy90 The reason PS4's hardware is easier to develop for than XBOne is because they went for the simple brute force approach to the design. Microsoft's design has a little extra piece that multiplies the power of its "weaker" elements so that when used properly can result in more processing throughput than PS4 with it's DDR5. Most developers of XBox games know how to take advantage of this extra hardware (if they did so with the 360).

Dannystaples14
Dannystaples14

@amar1234 Yeah I've never cared about graphics. If I had I'd not even be bothering with console and I'd go build a top end desktop PC.

But you don't think the PS4 is going to be massively better graphics do you?

Most games these days are multi-platform. Which means the developers will make the game on the least powerful console, which excluding the Wii U will be the Xbox One. Then they will port the game directly onto PS4 and PC and will then bump the resolution up to 1080 for PS4 if it isn't already.

Other than that the multiplatform games will look identical.

But the exclusives won't even have any basis for comparison anyway, so unless we are talking about someone who is a professional graphics specialist and knows exactly what they are looking for it is likely no one will notice any difference anyway.

Like back in the day of playing PS1 games they looked better than they do today. As in a PS1 today seems to look a lot worse than it used to. Partly because we are used to higher levels of graphics and we used to have smaller televisions. Using a lower resolution on a small TV can look just as good as a high resolution on a massive TV and my bet it unless you have a 40+ inch TV and you sit less than six feet away from it, the difference will be negligible even if you were to set up two identical TVs right next to one another.

So for me who will be playing my console on a 20 inch TV in my bedroom, a PS4 and Xbox One will practically be the same console for most of the time I'm playing. That and neither consoles exclusives do anything for me any more. When they can bring out an exclusive that isn't just a linear set of corridors with some rather crap story, like Halo 4 was and The Last of Us was then I'm not going near them.

Dannystaples14
Dannystaples14

@amar1234 It will look blurry most likely if directly compared. As in if I set up two TVs that are identical and play the same game on both directly next to one another. But who does that? Who has two identical TVs in the same room? Most people will buy one console and when they do that it doesn't matter if it is the Xbox One or the PS4 on their own they will both look great. And they won't have any basis for comparison. Comparing from memory is not comparing. So even if they went around to their friends house and played the other console it wouldn't be a comparison.

Marginally better load times probably about five-ten seconds. Woah awesome!

PC gamers will probably not care and will expect it to be lower graphics fidelity anyway. Personally I don't play PC games all that much because even though the games LOOK better on PC the quality of the story and the gameplay is no better than on console and you have to actually pay quite a lot of money to get those PC graphics at 1080p and 60fps. Not massive amounts more than a console but still more and even more if you want to maintain that performance over a few years. Same reason I won't be buying a PS4 just for a bit of extra power that I won't even notice unless I directly compare the two, which I am never going to do.

Most people on console have never had 1080 and 60fps though have they? I actually do play some PC games and I admit they are fantastic looking, but it still isn't worth it just so you can play the same shallow games as ever. Same corridor running borefests of games.

amar1234
amar1234

@Dannystaples14 @amar1234

No the multiplatform  games wont look massively better on PS4 compared to xbone in terms of textures or polygons  or effects,

No the difference is in the resolution ie the sharpness of the graphics the xbone is stuck at 720p where as the ps4 is at 1080p the problem is all modern tvs are 1080p, the xbone will look blurry and more jagged on a hdtv where as the ps4 will be showing games at the the HDTV native resolution and so  will look more sharp and less jagged and blurry.

The ps 4 will also have marginally better load times and or frame rate.

For some people this kind of difference isnt that noticeable for others its glaringly obvious ( Pc gamers will notice ). . There s saying " if you never had it , you wont miss it"., so i think you are fine with xbone.
