i hope this time make a real Ai because in Arma 2 i had a serious problem with the enemies AI, they could shoot me on sight with a big MG only with one single fire from 400 meter or more!!!! and i was on the ground.and also behind a a cover and he could see my head just a seccond seriously...

 ARMA's biggest strength is in it's multiplayer. Online you have to actually deal with the logistics of war. There are players who just fly transport helicopters between the base and the AO,  never firing a shot. And ones who play as engineers just keeping vehicles up and running. I've had games where it took me 30 minutes just to get to the fight.

Even when you accomplish an objective, you need someone to come and extract you, bring you ammo or medical supplies.

 While obviously, a majority of the players will be pursuing the objective. It takes an entire team of people to support them in order for them to succeed.

 It also doesn't take much at all to end up dead. (1 to 3 hits). Half the time it's from something you couldn't avoid, enemy artillery, attack heli, enemy jet, etc.  Then you'd have to spend another 15 minutes heading back to the fight. Which certainly discourages anyone from taking unnecessary risks.

 It's not for everybody. It  does take a certain kind of player. A player mature enough and patient enough to understand what the team needs and which role to play. But,  I've had some of my best online experiences with ARMA II.

 It's main downfall has always been the game mechanics. Slow and clunky are probably the bast way to describe it. Also the presentation in single player has always been a bit weak. But, hopefully they'll improve this in ARMA III.

Great game. Complex, but at the same time immersive  and fun

@Tom Mc shea, as someone who played Arma 2 alot online i can tell you that if you want realism in your war game this is what you are looking for.  Especially when you go play with hardcore clans on hardcore servers. Hardcore means they are all for realism, added extra mods that make the game even more realistic (like talking, when you stand close to someone and he talks trough the mic you can hear him, the further away you go the less good you hear him. Same goes for walky talkies with how much range they have). I played with a clan who's members are active and retired US marines, playing with them meant a long preparation before we would actually go on a mission. Get the right gear, everyone gets their role to play, deciding the drop zones, etc etc. And avarage play session would take up between the 3 and 4 hours. And most of the time we where just planning and getting to the objective. When we did get enemy contact it would be like in RL, finding cover and you enemy mostly was just a figure some where in the distance. Heck a lot of times you didn't even know where the shooting came from, bullets flying around your ears, total chaos as you dive to the ground and trying to spot the enemy. Also you can't take many bullets. Depending on the hit you are either instant dead (head shot for example) or you get wounded. Wounds come in many forms, from shot in the leg making you less mobile to heavely wounded and dropping you to the ground as you start to fade away, only now and than opening your eyes and just hope your team mates come to your aid. You can bleed to death even with a wound in the leg when its placed right. War is hard, and ARMA captures it the best way possible for a game. Planning is important, run and gun is certain death and you don't regain health by hidding behind a rock, infact it would probally get you killed to not treat the wound with bandage, morphine, etc.

 @max_24 Yeah the AI detection is ridiculous.  Your AI squadmates will call out targets to you a ridiculous ranges for the naked eye, and do it at ridiculous speed.

"Enemy man, 10 o'clock, 500m." they call out  And I stare with my binoculars through the forest foliage going "Bullshit I can't see a damn thing."  I always suspected it was because bushes and trees had no actual effect on their detection scripts.

 @BalkanBoyo

 that whole "war cant be fun" discussion is useless, it depends on the person, when i'm entertained i can say afterwards that i had a fun time but that doesnt mean that you love war and violence but the challenge the game is giving you! it's almost like the paraplegic twister (google it), i laugh every time i see it (i know i have a sick a++ sense of humour) because i find it funny but that doesnt mean i hate paraplegics or handicapped people or find it funny...
