Jay Crowe spoke very well, and didnt show the arrogance of other directors and people interviewed. I played the original op for. It was rough, but its scale was nice all power to the team they have there, hope the game does well.
"2012 stage demo", freudian slip I guess as this game was scheduled for release last year. I suspect they will not get an invite to E3 next year if they want to present the same game year after year.
this game is friggin amazing, its so underappreciated as a serious shooter, once I started making my own missions I never could take Battlefield seriously again. It wouldn't be too difficult to make a Battlefield mod that completely decimates Battlefield gameplay.
I'm excited for the beta! The alpha so far has been good; the infantry stuff feels solid, and the game runs well on my pc despite the better lighting engine. Still lots of stuff to see of course (I can't wait to see the Take on Helicopters flight model added in, which I don't think is in yet, not to mention all the tank or jets themselves), and other things/bugs that still need tweaking too.
The thing I am most anxious to learn about is exactly how they're going to spruce up the multiplayer. I believe they are fixing up the game's netcode to run better, which is great, but obviously anti-cheat is still a biiig issue, and I don't think I've heard anything about that other than Bohemia understanding its importance.
Ease of access is important too. They've integrated with Steamworks, so I expect some steam workshop stuff. Hopefully that will help (even though I'll probably stick with 3rd party 'Play with Six' & arma launcher, much like I do with Skyrim). Arma's a bit more complicated what with its sandbox nature; most of its content is player created. With mods & custom mission types, you may get great custom stuff, but the lack of uniformity (such as you would get with say, Battlefield) probably scares some people off, which is a shame.
Looks really promising, I still remember first playing Operation Flashpoint all those years ago.
Oh the hours I wasted in mission editor.....
Arma 3 Alpha is awesome they really did great work in this also it looks better than 2 and runs better than 2 and it's still in Alpha so i find this amazing. I hope more people join the Arma community, can't wait for the final product.
Bring back Operation Flashpoint. I loved Dragon Rising. For me, OFP:DR is the best game in this genre (better than Arma's). OFP: RR was decent but a poor extension of the stellar OFP:DR.
Kudos with this approach. its looking very nice. The community involvement is smart since creates commitment.
Never got to play any of the ArmA's simply cuz my laptop wouldn't handle it but i did play Operation Flashpoint years ago when i had a Pc and loved it. Shame i'll never get to play this =(
Looking forward to getting ArmA 3 but the alpha is waaaay to unoptimized at the moment, I'll wait for the finall product and than buy it.
I wonder if someone allready re-created the Domination game type, that was a ton of fun in ArmA 2
hehe PC Masterrace, thats how all games should be made. PC FIRST BITCHES! makes for much MUCH better games.
He was very diplomatic with regards to the new consoles, he couldve easily said "this shit would not run on a ps4/xbone
I love how they are releasing it if you buy it now you get the Alpha and beta and full game for 32 bucks instead of the 50 when its released, wish more games would do this.
@netter99 No, it will come in a few weeks though.
@killeridis Yes, and the movement doesn't feel clunky anymore! However, I hope they continue to update AI, because its pretty silly right now.
@Rifleman22388 Indeed, the game was riddled with too many bugs to even count. I still played it though cuz I couldn't get ARMA 2 and it was the closest thing to it besides the first OFP and the first ARMA at the time, but yee, is did suck.
@fanirama Dragon Rising was absolute garbage compared to this. Considering how good the original OFP was, OFP: DR was probably the most disappointing game purchase I have made in almost 30 years of gaming.
@NightmareP3 Remember, if you buy it in Alpha, you get a discount on the price. If you're going to buy it anyways, you might as well do so now, even if you won't play it right away.
@NightmareP3 Yes. There's a Domination mode called Invade &Annex. It was created by a user.
@highlanderjimd Calm down
@uglypinkmoose Same, they may not be the top of the line graphics, but tbh they look great still, not to mention people fail to realize that the true achievement is the scale. This game will have extremely large maps in which it will take hours to travel across from one side to the other.
@GSGuy321 yes the game support oculus rift
@GameFan1983 Hehehe you're a funny troll. Internet must be proud of you.
@GameFan1983 Don't even pretend you're a PC Gamer. No PC Gamer in their right minds would buy 2 690s. Impostor.
@Void_Kross Howabout, How about the Battle of Endor in Arma 3?
@Void_Kross Or just get Day Z standalone :P
@Void_Kross Hope they keep that cancer away from arma 3 personally.
@Gears_0f_L0ve it was confirmed already. May not come in this June Beta release but will be soon
@Gears_0f_L0ve It is happening, it was confirmed in their live stream a few days ago.
@Falzonn @pelvist @fanirama Even then, it was still quite a clunky movement system like ARMA 2, though ARMA 2 easily made up for it. Only thing DR had going for it was the graphics and the command rose which I wish they had in ARMA 3, though I think there is a mod coming out with it and PR made one.
@Smosh150 The DayZ mod brought a lot of people to Arma 2 who, if it weren't for DayZ, would never have bought A2, or even heard of it. You're both right in that it's a blessing and a curse; Bohemia made lots more money, but many hardcore arma fans are a bit annoyed at the immaturity much of the new DayZ playerbase brought with it.
@Kooken58 @Smosh150 @spammehardo @Void_Kross I respect your opinion, but what other mods are there out their that dilute it, I have seen some random vehicles like the Robotech mech and a Master Chief, but I haven't seen any mods that really dilute the community or deface ARMA 2. I am not trying to offend anyone and fully understand that DayZ is a fun mod for others out there, I just feel it brought a lot of a casual feel into the community.
@Smosh150 @Kooken58 @spammehardo @Void_Kross Could say the same about the other countless mods the game has...the fact of the matter is Mods breathe life into the game. You may hate it but you cant deny the fact that it has brought alot more attention to the series, and possibly brought more fans with it...Might never have gotten the quality of what we see with Arma 3 if it wasnt for the millions of players that purchased arma 2 for dayz.
