imo, gothic 1 was groundbreaking game with great story elements, gothic 2 was a supreme sequel to the 1st one, 3 was a 'been there done that' sequel, and this one.. well this one is the latest 'been there done that/lets make more money' sequel to the franchise. im not saying its bad, its just worn. gief something new to the rpgs, like carmack is doing for the fps with rage.
"Are you the warrior of fate?!" Oh god, I hope not. o_o This looks like a world I don't want to save.
i played this game and ended it,and it wasn't all that bad how people made it out to be i enjoyed it,if i had listen to people i wouldn't had gave it a chance, and i am glad i didn't listen and gave this game a chance.
that's strange... when i used magic shield the skeleton mage pieced my magic shield and hurted me... he used fire so first i blocked with fire... but his attack still caused damage, i switched to lightning and used the magic barrier his fire still did damage and last used ice and his attacks still keeps burning me... WTF fake video magic shield lmfao!
I am currently playing Gothic III... I patched it to v1.12 and it still has many bugs. I loved Gothic I . Liked Gothic II and am not so impressed with Gothic III. I am still gonna play Gothic IV. @ hyttenhoof Oblivion is "The Elder Schrolls IV" . TES series is MUCH older than Gothic and in my opinion times better than it.
the game looks interesting and seems to have some depth to it, but the trailer they made here looks so boring... it seems like theres not much to be done.
It looks nice, but the voice acting is the worst I have ever seen, EVER. Check out the witch of the wood (I forget her name) close to the beginning. Someone needs to give that chick some xanax or something. Other than the voice, it's pretty fun.
That's interesting that the PS3 version won't come out till 2011... Look's like a tight game. I'd buy it.
@cbfanboy gothic was one of the cornerstones long before oblivion was out. how can oblivion still be king if it never was to begin with?
I thought the demo was pretty good. The level of detail on the weapons and armor is pretty sweet. I'm fiending for this style of rpg so I must buy. I can tolerate bugs. The one thing that did kinda p*$$ me off was the inability to move or strafe while blocking.
just tried out the demo and im sorry to say but this looks like gothic 3 all over again - full of bugs, glitchy graphics and a very clumsy user interface and dialogues. I really hope that was just the demo ( felt more like a beta ) and the real game will be awesome
they said they would launch it in september, after that they changed it in to 1st of october, then 12th of october, now it's 19th of october, whats next?
This looks pretty good. I really have high hopes for it. Something tells me my expectations will be met with disappointment, though. We'll see.
this game is nice and its has a great competitive witch is Fable III these 2 games will be my lovely collection..
haven't really heard much about this one from mainstram american game media. this has always been one of the problems with Gothic series in america.
what a terrible trailer. This game is actually good... even the demo. The only bad things about the gothic series is glitches/bugs
I would like to say to anyone that has not played the Gothic series. Don't judge the game based on the trailer. To be honest.. and its the truth.. all gothic trailers sucks.. big time.. I mean listen to the narrator.. qtf mate? In the end. The game is phenomenal. Story driven.. maybe... basically best RPG game. Not story based, but RPG.
@Darnasian No, it's not the same nameless hero. The one you played in the first 3 parts is now a king possesed by dark powers as they say... But you still play a nameless character yea...
I haven't played the demo yet, but i have something to ask you guys! Is still The Nameless Hero the main character? I think yes because I compared his look with his other look from Gothic 3 and it looks almost the same! The haircut is the biggest change! Gee he has BOWL haircut!!! But I want to be sure so please answer to my question guys! Oh and look closely at the box-shot of the game! You'll see that the hero is wearing the paladin armor from Gothic 2&3!!!
The demo was aweful! Nothing worse that starting you adventure with bad voice acting and terrible character animations.
Gothic 3 was a pretty cool game. This one should be OK if it follows the same atmosphere. The trailer is terrible... just a bunch of random scenes and slashes... do not lock into the story...
interesting game terrible trailer except for a couple of scenes. How many times does he slash at the screen. Are you a warrior of fate? lol
I played the demo and it's not as bad as ppl are making it out to be. Of course it's another remake of oblivion, but you've got to admit, oblivion was a great model for the next generation of rpg's to follow, ie. fallout 3, fable 2, dragon age
Just played the demo and was not impressed. I wanted to be impressed but it is definitely a no go for me!!!
Wow..was this trailer made in the 1950s? It sure sounds like it. Ugh the trailer makes the game look terrible.
Boooo trailer! But if i think about it, every trailer from the previous games sucked too and they were awesome anyways (except G3 of course).
I might get this if they make a better trailer, horribly put together. Doesn't do this game justice at all.
I hope Spellbound made the game as Piranha Bytes did, honestly the bugs don't bother me. I just hope to the sleeper that it still feels like a Gothic game! Their games haven't been masterpieces, but maybe they finally did it.
