@stakex007 - nope, i didnt asume it was going to bee free to play, i can afford mmo monthly fees. i wont argue no more with you, you have your opinions i have mine, but.......IT WILL BE FAIL !
this game looks great....but why do they bother listing any of these stories in the xbox 360 version if its probably not even coming to consoles at this point
@Brucius - What the hell are you talking about? First and foremost LotrO is not on its death bed... not even close actually so right there you have zero credability. And either way all thoes games you mentioned have been done to death over and over again with little to no innovation. The market is filled with fantasy, turn based MMOs that are all similar to what came before it. Thats why they have trouble because its been done time and again since UO and Ever Quest. APB on the other hand is pretty much going to be GTA online, with far more to do then GTA4's own online gameplay. Tack on one of the best (like the best actually) customization systems any game has ever seen and you have a game from a very popular genrea, thats never been done in an MMO setting, and has some extreamly inovative features. To me that sounds like a winning combination. Think how popular GTA is... and this is what a lot of thoes GTA fans have been wanting, a GTA style MMO.Im not saying its deffinatly going to be a smash hit... but what your saying is compleatly baseless. Forcasting the doom of the one original MMO in the last 5 years before its even released? Your probably just one of thoes guys who assumed it was going to be free to play, and are just pissed you actually have to pay for it.
Just look at these coments below ,bored programers at lunchbrake praising their own work, pathetic :) ... Honestly i do really wish this game suceeds, its an interesting idea and all that ccrap but looking at these videos its sadly obvious that it will be a fail. Max user score 6.5 / 10. Just look at other MMO's like Warhammer, AoC, LOTRO and such that have suceeded at getting scores over 8 yet they all were at brink of their "death" just months after release and now only with few servers left they are limping into inevitable disaster. I forsee complete and utter failure of this game within 3-4 months after release.
I love the honesty of these two guys. That may have sold it to me on it's own :) what attracts me to this is the scope for user development of what seems to be down to the real gaming structural details. They're providing a canvas with a few rules, for the rest of us to turn into something special. Buying this.
same mastermind, thats why. this is either gonna be really good or really crappy. im hoping really good!
@mcspaddin I think they will need to have monthly subscribtion, since holding all of that running will cost money.
@legosora73, there will probably some sort of extra bonus for arresting them, the idea of an enforcer is too prey on the criminal... they get their resources through killing/arresting there is probably a bonus to those resources if you arrest someone instead of just killing them
you only put a criminal out of the action for 10 seconds if you arrest them? seems kind of short for the extra work you have to do.
also i have heard one of the theories on how this game will be able to hold up good servers at no monthly costs, and if they dont do this I will be sincerely surprised. How often in games do you see billboards? how often in games do you see fake advertisements? how much money could a developer make by selling in-game billboard time?
@DKtroa, this has tons of room to update, of course you can open up multiple new districts with their own stories. unlike in WoW and WAR (havent played many other mmos) the original end-game was city seige, there isn't much you can do past that, but with this system no matter how much new content you add there will always be a new cops base and always be a new theifs base (if not more than one) and also the mechanics of a pvp fight will constanly change depending on what the robber is doing and where the enforcer is when they see that action
I hope it has enough features and they update it, because if not it could get boring and old quickly.
Ah, that's good to know about the pricing, I don't mind paying a bit more for the game itself or expansions/levels/extra content but I've had bad experiences with monthly fee games. This game will be huge, no doubt about it.
Theres for sure no monthly fee or it wont rely on micro-transaction. But their payment model is TBA. Quote from the website "The game will be available as a full-price PC title. We'll offer you flexibility on ongoing costs to guarantee great value - APB won't require a subscription commitment, nor will it rely on traditional micro-transaction offerings." @Rebornpheonix, I'm afraid they already did. :( Go on their new website (apb.com) and click on the pre-order button to find out. :(
I'm loving this game but I have a feeling they might rape us with a monthly fee... anyone know for sure?
