Aim Down Sights - Ghosts "Nemesis" Maps Broken Down By Unknownplayer, Plus Highlights From G3
(Produced In Partnership With Activision) We've got the skinny on the four new maps in the "Nemesis" DLC, with gameplay and analysis from Unknownplayer. Plus highlights from a hugely successful G3, and we announce the winners of the Road to Gamescom competition!
Shipment the smallest map in call of duty history. Lol congratulations?
I could have sworn I was watching CoD:MW clip during that.
I don't think that you realize that as long as a media organization needs advertising as its revenue, it's going to have sponsored shows like these.
I like to think that one of the reasons that Carolyn Petit and Tom McShea left GameSpot is because CBSI forced this show on GameSpot's servers.
(By the way, they are actually laid off. Go figure.)
With that said, some of you should know that a separate team, which is not composed of GameSpot staffers but rather is made up of former XBLIG personae and "professional" gamers, is producing the episodes.
Doesn't change the fact that this show is taking up space on GameSpot's site though.
Also, if you don't want this show on GameSpot, you are going to have to buy up CBSI and force this show off with an executive order. You can say that "nobody" watches this on GameSpot, but you haven't noticed that episodes of this show have been circulating around on social media.
Is this entire series just Activision paying Gamespot to make videos about the former's games? That's pretty gross...
If I wanted to watch an infomercial, I'd go watch some old Billy Mays videos. At least he was charismatic.
It might just will. ;)
I have a better idea: bring back paid subscriptions, give us premium content and get rid of these shitty shows that no one gives a crap about.
I wish I had found Gamespot years sooner, I only got a couple years of the good gamespot before it went superduper mainstream(IGN)
You also have to wonder on your first point after the article Tom wrote about Preorder issues if that is really part of it. Though I kinda wonder if it was their other ideals they pushed so hard that did it.
@Gelugon_baat I assumed the layoffs had to do with an overly bloated staff. When you consider how Giantbomb is operating, it's hard to justify such a large staff at GS. Petit's and McShea's more controversial reviews and editorials probably didn't help their case either.
@sugarboy79 Paying a gaming website to promote a game is GROSS? Man shut up. This is a gaming website not the Wall Street News of Gaming. See all these ads on here, thats how the website gets paid you imbecile. They are not paying for reviews, they are paying for advertisement. Stay in school and learn something
Activision is paying for the hosting.
If you had looked at the comments under the previous episodes, the production of the videos is handled by a separate team - namely the former XBLIG bloke and his friends.
Of course, Activision is still paying to make use of GameSpot's - or rather, CBSI's - resources, if you still want to find something to be grossed out at.
@sugarboy79 frankly im just here for the eye candy ....
Service paid for, service rendered. Personally, I don't find this appalling. :/
Besides, it's not like CBSI is on the Call of Duty-hate bandwagon.
Personally, I would like to see some of the actual GameSpot staffers voicing their opposition at this.
(So far, I only know that Danny O'Dwyer had given a "like" to a boycott rant on the first episode, but that's it.)
@wEEman33 Yeah man, Billy Mays could grow a beard.
CBSI might as well merge GameSpot with GiantBomb then.
Perhaps, but I would say here that if this was the case, this is a case of staffers getting picked for lay-offs for telling what the site's viewers don't want to hear.
Yeah, I have an impression that this was a downsizing too, but I can't be sure because I haven't seen any strong evidence that this is a staff-trimming exercise.
Also, I suppose that Petit and McShea drew the short straw (not of their own volition) because of those - too many complaints from angry fans coming CBSI's way. If this is true though, I find this displeasing.
@Gelugon_baat @sugarboy79 The logistics of production aren't important to me. I don't like 'sponsored content' on journalism websites whether it's Slate or Gamespot. I'm not interested in my options of media consumption being dictated by the highest bidder. If I was, I'd just watch TV.
@sugarboy79 and yet...you're here
