ACMI Game Masters - Yuji Naka
The lead programmer behind the original Sonic the Hedgehog, Yuji Naka, speaks about programming speed, the calculations behind game designs and the artistry of being a programmer.
i still have hardship with learning programming, i guess i don't have a talent for that....so, i am very amazed with game programmer..
If we was praised for programming alone, he deserves it, but if it was because of Sonic, then I gotta say that Naoto Oshima and Hiro Yasuhara deserve it more than him. They know the Sonic concept better than Naka, who has programmed some of the worst Sonic games in history. Perhaps it wasnt his fault, maybe he had to work with the style popularized by Sonic Adventure...
You would have to be a programmer or have some basic know how in programming to understand that writing code in assembly language aka assembler is a pain in the ass. REspect for the man.
A legend in his time. Mr Naka is responsible for some of the most memorable games of my youth so I have nothing but respect and admiration for him. I wish he would work on a sequel to Nights, a gem that did not receive the attention it deserved.
