This game visually seems to resemble GameRepublic's Folklore or DarkMyst, American Mcgee's Alice, or any one of Jim Henson's dark fantasy films. Also Orlando Furioso, the old Italian puppet play.
Hmm.. I don't really get the reference to Monty Python and Terry Gilliam. I'm familiar with their work and don't really see the influence in this. It looks more like the above mentioned examples. Japanese Dark Fantasy, plus some Jim Henson.
Terry Gilliam and Monty Python, though? No, not at all. Perhaps he means in humor?
Man I'm shocked this game is unique as heck and def a day one purchase for me I love the art style and the way it looks like it plays can't wait. Its def a good time being a Playstation fanboy like I am all the unique games are on Playstation after all.
I certaintly could never justify going out to buy this game. But I can appreciate it for what it is - a game platformer lovers may adore, its unfortuante my perference for RPGS, Action adventure games would have me putting this on my play if its on ps plus for free or admire it from a distance and never trying it.
This looks phenomenal. Still getting GTA V first for that month, but if I have some moo-lah left over, this is a definite must-buy.
Oh, no! this looks WONDERFUL!! WE keep being treated to such magnificent variety of games, while the "OTHER" guys simply stay waiting for their usual H__o and G_ _ _s of W_r. (*whispers* don't worry they don't know I'm talking about them-they are not bright. I mean, how could they, if they were the same ones whom were already paying for Netflix and Hulu a monthly subscription for, yet they thought paying for LIVE to let them access those services was GREAT.)
From what I've seen of it so far (this video basically) it does look very pretty. I do like the shifting camera rather than a standard side scrolling game.
My main problem will be that, all of that is great but if the story doesn't make me want to keep going I'm definitely not going to even bother. Especially since the characters seem to be going the acid trip, annoying as hell route.
It is the same idea as to why I don't play most Nintendo games and if I happen to pick one up the chances of me reaching the end are less than a game on PC, PS3 or 360. There is undeniable charm, the games are top quality and are generally quite fun but there is nothing else. Nothing driving me forward.
Unfortunately that is the same criteria I give as to why mobile games are never going to overtake consoles and PC in overall quality. Okay, in small amounts but not a game you can play for hours at a time.
I hope I am proven wrong. Time will tell.
I think Puppeteer looks fantastic. I've had my eye on it since it was first announced; love 2D platformers, and this one looks like it's going to be special.
Looks like Sony kept a bunch of exclusives to the end of the PS3 lifecycle!!
Last Of Us, Dragons Crown, Beyond: Two Souls, Gran Turismo 6 (hopefully).
What a year!!
Im definitely going to get this game even though I'm not a super fan of platformers. Lots of great games are coming down the pipe.
OMG ! This game looks beautiful ! I never play games like this but I feel like i MUST play this ! Too bad I don't have a ps 3...Maybe I'll be lucky and they will port it to ps 4 later.
Japan Studios. Finally back and strong again.
Btw, I loved the Xbox ad at the beginning of this PS3 video XD XD
Nowadays platformers/side-scrollers have some of the most beautiful and artistic graphics Ive seen. This game, Trine 2, Dragons Crown etc. I lately have more interest playing those than most 3rd/1st person trash out there. Theyre also sold at reasonable prices and you actually get the COMPLETE game for what you pay for.
Bleeargh, stop the stupid Xboner adds. Not touching that thing no matter how many adds you put up. But if it helps GS make more good items I'll read comments for 30 seconds before going to the main topic :).
Looks awesome! I'd say this game would be made by Nintendo in a world where they cared about not looking "too" childish once in a while, good thing we've got sony to keep getting us actually new and awesome games/IPs instead of what the near endless rehashes the other companies are doing!
This looks really fun. I'd seen a small snippet of it in the E3 coverage, but after this video It's a must buy. I mean, there's frickin flying croissants!
is it just coincidence that the Xbone ad keeps playing before this video starts?
whatever. This game actually looks quite cool.
This one has been on my to-buy list since E3. The art-style, the theatrical presentation, and man that Scissor works amazingly well.
Pretty refreshing to see such games. I like the art style in particular. I'm willing to give this game a try.
It's a new IP that isn't some gray/brown action game. I mean we constantly demand new, creative IPs but then when stuff like this comes out and no one buys it, we shouldn't act all surprised when companies go back to cranking out FPSes.
I really like the look of this, love these sorts of games. Makes me wish I owned a Playstation 3.
There are far too many exclusives, it's annoying! Another decent game I cannot play and wish I could.
Before anyone points out who made it, I already know!
I just wish the Microsoft made more decent games, whether retail or the Arcade, I'd buy them. So many poor /below average titles lately! The standard has really slipped and it only gets worse.
If there is a good new title, then it is normally on both consoles and the ones that are exclusives to Xbox, simply suck monkey balls! Only once in a while do we get a good game.
The Puppeteer looks great fun and it's nice to see Sony are still willing to make good games for the PS3.
This was my E3 highlight, its great to see Sony commissioning unique and creative games. A bit of British whimsy and a (supposedly) brutally dark story are great developments to see coming back into modern gaming too
@megaspiderweb09 WOW your girlfriends younger sister is a hardcore gamer... cool
Yeah, COD is so much better.
@wasakawaka its only $30ish aswell
@G4m3r0uTL4wZ When 3d titles came out. Virtua Fighter etc thats why there was an initial cultural rejection of 3D. Blocky and too expensive.
People felt the block art was not worth the compromising of the high art that 2d had achieved in the mid 90s.
But to me any form, side scroll or 1st person can be made into good art, as long as its an honest pursuit.
Half-life and Portal proved you don't need cutscenes, and the former did that all on the Quake 2 engine. People made interestingly funny vids off of Garry's mod.
I think it call comes down to true intentions and executions. All art or psuedo art reveals this in the quality of the work.
@Xpyder exactly, bro! I can't get into them Mario games anymore, and gosh I used to love that crap like heck when I was a kid.
@petsodon Crossbuy would be awesome!
@punksterdaddy Instead of whining and wishing, what about you stop supporting that massive joke that is MicroScam and the shitbox and get yourself a playstation and pay those who actually put heart in what they do and dont try to rip their customers off with every chances they can get?
@fredyellowone @megaspiderweb09 I think there was a misinterpretation somewhere, i do play these type of games, from Little Big Planet, Little Deviants to Crash bandicoot, Rachet and Clank etc. These also happen to be the type of games my girlfriends younger sister likes, so i make a habbit of buying two, one for me and her
