5 Things You Might Not Know About The PS4 - Ask GameSpot
Danny and Chris take some of your questions about the PlayStation 4 and attempt to teach you a thing or two you didn't know about the new console in the process.
Wait FAT32 is the DEVIL! Are the HDDs formatted that way?
And auto-installing games? Way to waste HDD space.
I think they took some crappy questions. I really wanna know how reliable the party chat it now, especially across games.
I'm still pretty fecked off that every game gets installed as standard. There'll be no room for downloading any random crap from the 'net or the Store. I bet the technical benefits of this are pretty minimal. They're probably just starting to acclimatise us to how things are going to be in the digital only market all the publishers seem to want to move towards.
Well i have been in a party with 4-6 people with no problems lagging or friends being randomly kicked from it. So it already has live beat imo
Oh no, not more focus on 'media gaming' things like theatre and highlight reels are what turned the call of duty fan base into arrogant, glory hunting, show off douchebags, we really don't need that across an entire console :/
I guess the wobble isn't a huge deal, but it does seem like something that a company would try to avoid when designing their newest piece of hardware. Oh well. Still planning on getting one in the spring, wobble and all.
360 had better looking multi platform games (most of the time) and ps3 had better exclusives. it looks like this time the ps4 will have the better multi platform games (the same games are running at a higher res on the ps4) and its anyones guess which one will have better exclusives. it is of course very early but i have a feeling the ps4 will outperform one all generation.
When will they admit that they can freely use player data as written in their new terms and services?
While it's true that you can also play mouse and keyboard PC games on your couch (I'm on mine right now), it's usually a bit more of a pain to get set up. I mean, you've got the length of you HDMI cable from your PC to your TV (is your PC next to your TV?), you've got issue with wireless mouse and keyboard signal distance, and although your 360 controller works on most PCs, you still need a wireless transmitter for it. It's all extra bits and pieces and setting up, and why bother when you could just plug in a console? That's not to even mention things like compatability issues, shitty windows 8, and so on.
That's coming from somebody who is probably sticking with PCs this gen. I just also understand the convenience and simplicity of consoles.
heres something else you might not know about the ps4...Feb 2014 if ur console bricks geez!!http://www.tweaktown.com/news/33967/sony-ps4-owners-will-have-to-wait-until-2014-for-hardware-replacement/index.html
@chikatilo008 Well, some of us are married, and want to remain married.
So the PC stays in the office, where i can game there to my heart's content.
How's Last of Us on PC?
@chikatilo008 Consoles are good for their ease of use. You don't need to mess with your PC's innards or update drivers. The user interface on a console is simple to use as well. Consoles also come with controllers and everything else you need. What about all the exclusive games that aren't available on PC? Aren't they good enough for you? Not all gamers are tech heads and some are too young to care about their game's settings. No doubt the PC will always be king, but there's a reason consoles have been around so long.
@Wahab_MinSeo That's complete BS... Part of the reason to play console is not to deal with the Keyboard and Mouse, but use an actually controller that's way better to play...
@Wahab_MinSeo Did you even watch the video? You can do the same thing on ps4.
@Zombrex it's great! just tried yesterday, a friend logged in for some COD Alien madness and I was playing AC4, we talked smoothly.
However, I noticed that the earbud's max volume isn't very good, I will buy a headset soon :]
@PlatinumPaladin To add to my ridiculously long post...I will say my biggest disappointment with BOTH XB1 and PS4 is the fact that they decided to go with 500GB as the standard HD size. They could have doubled that and not had a dramatic increase in cost. Especially with the mass quantities they purchase to build their consoles.
@PlatinumPaladin The technical issues are that the games are on Blu-Ray. If you research blu-ray, you would understand why games can't just play off the disc anymore. The same technical issues are also on the XB1. The seek time on a blu ray drive is too slow to run games at these resolutions with no hiccups in frame rate or loading times.
Installing games is a benefit, not a hinderance. You have to understand that a Hard drive reads data and relays that information to all of the other hardware components on the console so much faster than any DVD, CD, or Blu Ray drive is ever capable of doing. Currently on the Xbox 360, I install every game that I intend on playing for hours. This does a couple of things. It allows games to load faster, and it preserves the DVD drive from unwanted wear and tear. WHen a game is installed, it only needs to read the disc to verify that you own the game. After this, all of the heavy lifting is done by the hard drive in terms of content. The Blu-Ray or DVD drive then can shut down until it is needed again. This means less moving parts, less heat generated internally to your system and less wear and tear on your Blu-Ray drive. Yes, this comes at the cost of Hard drive space, but so what? Do you really play that many games all at once that you can't delete old games that you're not playing anymore. I'm sure by the time you fill up all 500 GB of data, there will be plenty of things that you no longer play that you can remove to make space.
@kushishimu I say it was deliberate.
@Gelugon_baat Danny is a god among insects. You are not worthy of his greatness. :)
He just moved to the U.S. No surprise that he's fitting in. It's hard to resist all of our yummy trans-fat foods.
@Leroy Jenkins Perhaps if you cut the cord from the Xbox and got on board with the Playstation community, you'd realize just how much value you get out of the PS3/PS4. You can't really argue the fact that most of the functions aren't hidden behind a paywall, PS Plus(which you essentially have to have now.) gives you free games weekly, they have a plethora of FTP games and MMOs(paid and FTP) and they at least make it seem like they value their consumers. Shortly after I got my PS3, I got a message from Sony saying, "we hope you are enjoying the Playstation experience." and it had a code for $10 attached to the message. When's the last time you got a message like that from MS?
@DiamondDM13 @Wahab_MinSeo The guys in the video said a gaming PC cannot be used from your couch, I watched their video on my gaming PC from my couch. Now u're telling me I must buy a "next gen" console with antique hardware if I want to use a controller, but i'm holding that controller right now, connected to my PC, pretty sure it's working. I just *love* console gamers keep making up pro's on the platform to counter all the obvious cons.
Your sense of humour is peculiar indeed.
I suppose that sooner or later, someone would make a remark like yours. :P
