Meet and greet the Neo Geo X - David Bruno give us a chance to go hands-on this Neo Geo handheld and AES dock. This is Pro-Gear Spec.
i hope they have a menu to change blood color otherwise its going to severely hinder my wanting to purchase this .
Oh, look, the WiiU took a step into the Retro Zone and acquired the black skin that was not supposed to see the light of day until after the initial sales on the white one had milked the market for all it was worth...Oh, a Neo Geo, oh, how could I have confused those two...??
The price seems very reasonable for coming with 20 pre installed games, docking station, handheld, and arcade stick.
I'm sure SNK has limited expectations for the handheld so all it will take is a few thousand dedicated fans to make it a success, vs. say millions needed to get the more familiar handhelds into profit.
I have MAME with all the arcade games on my pc the reason to own this portable is because is portable.
@Tzunoy just read its not that portable... you can only charge it from the NeoGeo X Dock... not chargeable from USB cable nor power pack only from the Dock... 3-4hrs play :(
Yeah, I've played on MAME too, but some of the emulation is off, and the overall experience is just not the same. The portable is a nice touch.
3ds is pretty cool, just can't bring myself to get one. I guess I'm just not that excited about it, or the Wii U for that matter. This is for guys like me that could never afford one growing up, and can get this now to relive our childhood, lol!

I think so too personally. I don't think their going to make a lot of these. Funny you say that because I mentioned collectibility on neogeo.com and a couple people their seem to disagree with me to put it lightly. Apparently the mere thought of that labels one a dumb _ _ _ _. I think it's funny people get so crazy. Lol!
Looks cool and all but what about multiplayer? Is it single player only? Or is there a cable like it's an old school gameboy or wi fi? That would be a huge factor for me. The games are cool but single player is boring.
It has 2 player capability with purchase of extra stick for $50.00. No wi fi, wired controllers.
the system, handheld, and controller look really well done. I would get it just for the quality if i had the money for it.
Will be interesting to see. Although it failed due to price when it came out, there's a huge cult following to this day and it still isn't cheap. People are shelling out a pretty penny for the original and games.
That's why I own a Neo Geo and Neo Geo CD and buy the old games Super Cheap off of Ebay!!! I was lucky enough to buy a Neo Geo that a guy thought was broken for only $75.00 and it works flawlessly. They I bought the CD (Orig. Not High Speed) for $150.00 from Ebay. That's what you do if you want to get your old school game on and don't need it to be portable!
$75.00! Wow, now that's a deal! I already pre-ordered the X, and I'm seriously thinking of buying the original. My hesitation is the expense of the games though. In looking the games are going for 50/60+ still, what's your secret to getting them cheap, and what are you paying?
For all the hardware you're getting, it's definitely worth $200. That being said, a device that can just play old school SNK games and does nothing else, is not something most people would be looking to drop that amount of cash on. The Neo-Geo wasn't particularly known for its stellar line-up of games like Nintendo, Sega or Turbo Grafix 16 was. Aside of a brief trip down memory lane, I can't see much use for this.
Yeah, and I wonder if it will sell do to that very reason. I don't see many, if any younger gamers buying this. Great for us who remember it back in the day. It's so nostalgic for me, I have to have it!
@Dragon0713 @Vodoo But there's also the fact that all the NG games that are actually worth playing: KoF, Metal Slug, Last Blade, MoTW, SS, etc...have all been released on other consoles multiple times and most of them are available through the PS Network which means they can be played on the PS3 and PS Vita so really the only thing this hardware gives us is the controller...
True. I've played all those on emulators, so there definitely not hard to get if you just want to play the games. I think the appeal of this is the mock AES console, joystick, and the memories it brings back. It makes people like me feel like I can finally get a Neo-Geo, although in a different presentation. By the way, I've heard the games on the PS network via Neo-Geo station are really great.
if the games were remade in hd, could do more than just play games, and if a game series was on one single cart, then yeah, worth 200.
Too expensive?!? This from the kids who thought nothing of dumping 5-600 on PS3 when new ! Oh, right, Mom & Dad gave you.......
All know that their game have been emulated 100% ... $200 would be fair price for it with all games included for free...
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
$200 to play 15 yo games? The people who even care to remember these games are too old to be walking around with that thing. who comes up with these ideas? monkeys with a dart board?
@Pavlara That's like saying that Micheal Jackson songs shouldn't be on Ipods because they're too old
@ProdjectAUSM dont compare snk games to mike jackson again. im actually offended by your comparison. im gonna write a letter
