For a Racing-Simulation game it's not worth the time unless you want something laggy and unresponsive

User Rating: 2 | Victory: The Age of Racing PC

When a game looks promising you would expect to be a good simulation racing game especially if you are going to release this on Steam. Victory: The Age of Racing had been in development for quite a long time now going back to E3 2009 and then launched in open beta at Gamescom 2012 after three years of development. It did received positive feedback from players and reviewers.

A few years after it recently got released on Steam as a free-to-play online game set in a Post-Apocalyptic world but I wouldn't really call it that due to the fact that it's not set in any wastelands or even in ruined cities. That's the first thing that will trick you when you start loading it up, plus after a short opening you have to set-up an online account and of course your driver’s license. You'll have three modes to choose from one of them will be able to race other players online and the other modes are Time Trail races which is more of less getting the fastest time on either each lap or races but isn't else much to say on that one.

You can customise your own car and add different colours to it but we've seen all of these ideas done before in the past in other racing simulation games like Gran Turismo and Forza series, this idea I like but I tell other gamers will likely customise their own designs to their own cars when playing the game. But going back to the gameplay you'll have three choices for playing Victory either using a game controller and a steering wheel by connecting it to your PC/Laptop with a USB cable or the other option is use the keyboard and only using the up button to accelerate, down to use breaks and of course the left and right keys to steer.

But the gameplay controls really feel sloppy and unresponsive for a driving racing game don't get me wrong I like how it has the coloured line turning from green to red tell you to either make a sharp turn or to slow down at a tight corner as I've already mentioned we've seen all of this done before in past games. The graphics and visuals might have looked impressive it was first announced back in 2009 and comparing it to now it feels like it should have belonged to a console that was in either the sixth or seventh generation.

Another problem you may notice that it still feels like it is still in early development or still in Alpha Beta there's nothing really exciting to look at for a racing simulation, you would expect it to be fully sorted by now especially on Steam. Like past simulation games they tend to be rushed and developed that quickly leaving with multiple bugs and glitches including random texture layout issues overlapping out of random feeling laggy as well Victory just has a mind of its own.

What may disappoint people the most that you can barely play online against other players meaning that you won't be able to race anyone else up to ten players because half the time you will have to sit through long loading times and the game itself will keep crashing at random moments either before starting a race or during a race it'll log you out and you would have to get the game back up and get yourself back online and logged in in order to play this.

This is one of the first simulation games I've seen released on Steam during this year for 2016 and if I'm quite honest for a free game to download it’s not worth checking out at all or the time playing but if you want to compare this to another racing game and see the differences from this to another you can see straight away there's a massive difference on how a racing game should be made.
