Has Acclaim built a franchise platform or a one-time forgettable blunder? my full review.

User Rating: 7.5 | Vexx GC
The true strength of Vexx is in the platforming and puzzle elements. The game is good and a lot of fun, but misses out on greatness simply because there wasn't enough thought or daring put into the design. It's challenging at times, but the game is a bit unfocused. Still, the puzzle elements are a pleasure and the gameplay mechanics are simple and somewhat addictive. There are lots of little faults to Vexx but it's a good game, if not a great one.

Platform fans hungry for a run at another big adventure should check out Vexx, but don't expect a revolutionary experience. It's a long game and some may not be compelled to finish it, but it's a good experience, especially if you enjoy hopping from platform to platform.

Presentation
Big worlds, nice clues and puzzles and a good level design, but the story is all but absent. 7/10

Graphics
Not the sharpest, but there are some nice touches here and there. The pop-up, poor draw distance and inconsistent framerate are the main grievances. 7/10

Sound
DPLII support, but the sound effects are repetitive and the voice-acting is minimal. Some more variety in the score would have been nice as well. 6/10

Gameplay
If you enjoy platforms and puzzles, Vexx is for you. The gameplay mechanics are simple, but tap into the essence of what makes for a good platformer 7/10

Lasting Appeal
Over 20 hours of gameplay if you want to get all the hearts, which may or may not be your cup of tea. 7.5/10

Overall:7.5/10

My Verdict: Rent it first :)
