Well, its been said before and I'll say it again, Master of Darkness on the Sega Master System is a Castlevania clone. However, that isn't a bad thing by any means. Also, while the core of the gameplay is undoubtedly modelled off of that classic series, there are some differences. The biggest one is the difficulty. The Castlevania games can be pretty challenging while Master of Darkness...I wouldn't go as far as to say it is easy, but I think that most 8-bit gamers will find this quite beatable. Also compared to Castlevania, I'd say that Master of Darkness does look better on the more powerful Master System, but it cannot match the classic sounds of that classic series. Overall, this is a good game that any Master System fan should try, and maybe even every Castlevania fan with it being a clone.
