Why is this game getting slammed?

Big reviewers slammed this game. I've played it through and thought it was pretty good. Give it a solid 8.0. VK has a good character class system, great graphics, decent dungeon battles, great selection of armour and spells. Granted the story is a bit thin. However, replay value is very good. Spent a lot of time after the game was over just revisting the dungeons and collecting rare drops. Maybe i'm being cynical, but I wonder if maybe xseed doesn't need to up their advertising dollars? Seems the general player opinions are that this game is a pretty solid rpg and worth trying. The low scores from ign and gamespot are waaaayyyy off the mark and usually they nail it.
