I turned on the evening news
Saw a old man being interviewed
Turning a hundred and two today
Asked him what's the secret to life
He looked up from his old pipe
Laughed and said "All I can say is."

    Don't blink
Just like that you're six years old and you take a nap and you
Wake up and you're twenty-five and your high school sweetheart becomes your wife
    Don't blink
You just might miss your babies growing like mine did
Turning into moms and dads next thing you know your "better half"
Of fifty years is there in bed
And you're praying God takes you instead
Trust me friend a hundred years goes faster than you think
    So don't blink

I was glued to my tv when it looked like he looked at me and said
"Best start putting first things first."
Cause when your hourglass runs out of sand
You can't flip it over and start again
Take every breathe God gives you for what it's worth

So I've been tryin' ta slow it down
I've been tryin' ta take it in
In this here today, gone tomorrow world we're livin' in

Trust me friend a hundred years goes faster then you think
    So Don't blink

    Naw, don't blink
Life Goes Faster Than You Think
    Don't Blink...

Part two about my life in h*ll right now...

Well as my mom has not been feeling well, I decided to do something nice for her and bought her tickets to see Wicked the Musical in LA (she is a huge Wicked Witch if the West fan). Well, she was having a really bad weekend but wasn't going to give up the tickets. So on Saturday we left and the drive wasn't bad, got to Burbank got dinner, so far so good. Then On Sunday morning we decided to do some shopping first in Glendale (for my mom) and then in Pasadena (for me). Well Glendale was almost ok, my mom can't read a map to save her life, but we did get to the mall and found the store for her. Then it was off to Pasadena. Wanted to go to Crate and Barrel for the new house and to Pinkberry (heard so much about it, had to try). Well we were looking for parking and found a lot up on the right side. I went to go from the left lane to the right lane, I looked, my mom looked, no car, go to move, bang. Then the girl who was driving jumped out and started screaming at me "I am going to kill you, you f*ing b*tch." So we locked the doors and called the cops. When the lady in the passenger side (the driver's mom) realized we called the cops she told her daughter to take a walk and calm down. Then when the cop showed up she gave him her license and registration and said she was driving. Then the cop took our statement and we told him who was driving. Well it was our word against theirs (there was a witness, but the cop had yet to talk to her). Later the girl driving came and told me she was driving without a license, grrr. So I didn't get a ticked but was put on the report for being at fault. First accident ever that was my fault and it was my new baby (less than 4000) miles on the new Jeep. *tear* Good thing, being my first accident my insurance didn't go up so that makes me happy. So I had to make all these arrangements to have my jeep towed to a dealership because it knocked a stability sensor out of line so my Jeep was no drivable and call my insurance to make a claim, get a rental car to take my mom to San Diego (to Scripps), get a plane ticket home for me and all of that fun stuff while I was out of town, on a Sunday and had three hours till the curtain opened at Wicked. Well we got it all done and got a cab to Wicked. Great musical, different than the book, but great none the less. So the next morning I found out they messed up we had no rental car. I yelled and yelled until one got delivered and speed from LA to SD to get my mom to her appt on time. Turns out the man was such an *ss - she just cried and cried over it. This guy was supposed to be at the top of his game and was so rude and ran no tests and basically insulted my mother and I. She had to stay until Tuesday to see another doc (also an *ss) then she got a flight home and we are moving on trying to find out why she is so sick. Also still waiting for the Jeep parts so I can fly to LA and pick up my baby.

With all of that there is some good news. I bought a new house (anyone from Vegas, it's in Mountain's Edge). 5 bedroom, 4 bath, 1 den, 2 car garage, just under 2,500 square feet and a big enough lot for a pool, spa and a yard. It was love at first sight. Will post picks when it gets more finished. Scary thing, first house, mortgage payment, home owners insurance, etc, etc. And it's a big house for just me and my cat, I am going to have to put a tracking device on her. So far I have decided that the master bedroom is mine (duh). One bedroom is going to be an office, one bedroom a darkroom as I love photography and miss having a place to process. The den is going to get floor to ceiling bookshelves and be a library. One of the rooms is set up "guest suite" sl,yle with a small walk in closet so that will stay the guest room. That leaves one room that I have no idea what I am going to do with right now. It is also set up great room st,yle (one big room instead of a formal dining room and formal front room and stuff which is what I wanted). Lots up upgrades (too many to list here so I'll add more when I have photos). It should be finished in about a month - I am so excited except I can't lift anything over 10 pounds due to the back so I have no idea about the actual move. Oh well, something will work out. The houses closes on Oct 30th and I do my walk-through Nov 1st and then move Nov 10th. Getting excited. Lots of furniture to buy. Lots of walls to paint. It'll be fun.

So where have I been for the last few months...that's a good question with a long answer so please bear with me. Things at work have been great all except for the office manager - who still makes me cry about once a week. I have always been a sensitive person and she knows just how to push my buttons. Some of you know that my mom has been sick (can't go into the details without crying so we'll skip that part). Needless to say things have been getting worse and I spend a lot of the time that I am not working helping get her to doctors appointments and other places. All of specialists still have no idea what's wrong, but she is way too young (only 56) to be as sick as she is. On to me for a moment. About a month ago I was twisted weird and sneezed and felt something pop in my back. The most excruciating pain ever, well almost ever but certainly a 9 on the 1 to 10 scale. Well I was in the bath when this happened and managed to get to a phone to call my dad - first person that popped in my head. He speed over from work and called 911 to get me to a the ER. Needless to say 2 paramedics and 2 fire rescue workers showed up and 3 of them were good looking buff men and I was covered by a small towel. Oh well. I was in so much pain I didn't care at the time (I do now). The one female was super nice and as soon as they started an IV and gave me some morphine she helped me put on some pajamas so I didn't go to the ER naked. Good old morphine, you are still in excruciating pain, but no longer care that you hurt. Well by the time the ambulance ride and the ER visits was done I had four doses of the magic medicine. I was sent home on lots of lortab and valium and told strict bed rest for 4 to 5 days. I had called my boss totally drugged from the ER so she had already cancelled my patients for the week. So I crashed at my parents for a few days as I was not allowed to be left alone, and crash I did - I slept or was passed out from the meds about 20 of the 24 hours for the first 4 days. Unfortunately Monday took me back to work and a few days later I had a follow up with my doc who wanted a MRI. Good thing she did as I just found out a few days ago that I jacked up L4, L5 and S1. The discs are bulging, one completely protruded, annular tears on them all and am rubbing bone to bone and nerve to bone (explains the pain). My doc instantly thought surgery, but called a pain management specialist first and I see him Oct 2nd to see what his thoughts are. I am way too young to have these issues (hello, only 27) and this could be a career threatening injury so needless to say I am freaked and have been crying a lot between that and my mom. So I doubt there are people still reading so I will save the story of last weekend (car accident and death threat and seeing Wicked in LA and buying a house for my next blog). Promise it won't be months, just a few days. To be continued...

PS - Happy about CSI, Bones, Gray's Anatomy and Private Practice!! My CSI prediction - Sara will live, but the PTSD will get to her and she will leave mid-season.

So I have been MIA for a bit as I didn't want anyone to spoil Harry Potter book 7. So don't worry - no spoilers here. I will say that the book was what I expected it to be. So that was good. Also went out this weekend for my office manager's b-day. Had a VIP bottle table at Cherry so that was cool. As far as tv.com news I wrote my 500th review, still having issues with submitting recaps and cast/crew. Anyone else having the same problems?? Well it's back to work tomorrow for me. So I have decided to give Saving Grace and Damages my time this summer. I will decide after a few weeks of they are worth it. So last week I broke down and went to the Kwik-E-Mart in Vegas. Hopefully the pics worked out. I bought a box of Krusty O's, a can of Buzz soda and a nuclear pink donut. It was interesting. The receipt also said Kwik-E-Mart instead of 7-11.

Well people started flooding Vegas yesterday for a chance to hit the "big one" and get married in Sin City on the date. People started lining up yesterday to get marriage licenses today. Crazy. And we are having a heat wave right now so all these tourists were hit with 110+ temperatures. I myself stayed inside and watched the Live Earth concert. Missed Madonna though she was the one I really wanted to see. Guess I will have to catch the video reply tonight.

Well the last few weekends I have caught up on The Closer. I purchased season and and two on DVD to watch and the prodding of my boss and really liked it. When I was done with that I watched the first few episodes of season three that I had DVR'd so now I am all caught up and addicted to another show. Speaking of shows...the World Series of Pop Culture is starting the next season on Monday. Can't wait - I kick *ss at that show. "My mind has an endless capacity for useless information" (anyone know what movie that quote is from?? See that's why I am good at that show). Anyways, I digress, can't wait for the next season.

So I submitted the first time today after the update. Of course there are some glitches, especially with the cast and crew. Hopefully those will get fixed soon. There also seemed to be a slight pause in the level updates as I submitted some reviews and my level didn't go anywhere. Oh well, I am almost used to that right now.

Work is ok. My boss is still out of town and things have been a bit slow, but no drama with the office manager that is worth mentioning. So I will leave you with a few funny pics for the week.

One, since today is Live Earth and it's all about the global warming...

That... it... it... flam - flames. Flames, on the side of my face, heaving... breathle - , heaving breaths. Heaving breath...

Quote from clue...for some reason the Y&R icon makes me think of that. So I was hot by the level bug for one day and then when it was fixed I had leveled up. Most of it was work on a person guide (to be left nameless) and the Man vs Wild guide now that new shows have started to air.

Work has been good, same old, same old, which is nice.

Random question - anyone out there watch The Closer?? I want to start (with the DVD's) but I want some imput first.

So this was an ok weekend.

I went shopping on Friday with the goal of looking for a cute new outfit for work, a cute going out outfit, a casual shirt for the weekends that was a step up from a fitted t and work shoes. I got all but the shoes (almost bought some but something stopped me)...The going out outfit is the cutest little short black dress that I tried on over jeans and loved it (ps - it's Vera Wang). The other outfit for work is also a short dress st*le over pants - I really like that look.

Saturday I had to work (had to pay for the day before). The patients were nice and the day flew by pretty fast. Then last night this big group of family and friends go to these super summer theatre plays that are offered every summer in Vegas. They are like a step up from community theatre. You go there (it's outside) and take a blanket and a picnic and eat and then when the sun goes down the plays start. Last night was Ragtime. Always a nice break.

Today has been all about the cleaning...Once upon a time I decided that it would be a cool idea to have black dishes. Well Vegas has super hard water so the first time I used the plates and washed them they got all funky. And I was lazy so I lived with the little marks caused my hard water in the dishwasher. Well this weekend I had it with the dishes. I took each one and soaked it individually in vinegar for five minutes then hand washed it. They look brand new. So from now on it's hand washing only after I use them to keep them looking good (might also be a good diet). While this was going on there was also the laundry to be done and the regular cleaning...

Can't believe it's back to work tomorrow.

A little time has passed since I have blogged last, so...

After reading the few comments I realized that I had never really talked about what was up with my heart.  It's kinda a long story, but I will give you all an overview.  I have been having issues since the middle of high school (that's about 12 years ago).  I would get these strange chest pains and runs of tachycardia.  Went to a great cardiologist and ran tests.  The pain was from a tricuspid prolapse, but no idea on the tachy (sometimes it just happens).  Well, as none of it was life threatening, he just put me on recall to make sure nothing got worse.  And it was like that or many years.

Starting about October things went bad.  My tachycardia was getting bad enough that my heart would try to skip a beat to put itself back on track and I was getting this feeling that I was gong to pass out every time I stood up (I'd get this strange grey circle closing in from the outside).  So I went back to the cardiologist.  First I got to wear a 24 hour heart monitor, he saw something he didn't like so I got to wear a 30 day one next.  When those results came in along with the symptoms I was having I got to have a tilt table test (random tv fact, they did this on CSI last season, anyways...).  The tests showed that I have neural-induced syncope.  For some reason my heart just races and when I stand up it goes even faster and then my blood pressure (which is already low) drops even lower and I feel like I am going to pass out.  So per docs orders I went on a beta-blocker to slow down the tachycardia and had to eat more salt to up my blood pressure.  Too make a long story short (too late), we think we have found a balance with the medication and I am feeling better.

Other than that...Last week work was good (crazy patients aside).  Friday I went to my friend's son's high school graduation.  It was soooo long.  On Saturday I went shopping for clothes and shoes for work.  All I ended up with was shoes.  C!assic black pump with a squarish toe.  (PS - they are Manolos).  Sunday - just catching up on life stuff, you know, laundry, errands, stuff like that.

Hope you all are having a great weekend.

So it has been a super long time since I have blogged.  I think that this is the longest gap ever.  So here is a quick update on life...

    On life at tv.com:

So I have really been slowing down on the regular show submissions.  Part of this is due to the crazy things that tv.com likes to do and part of it is just lack of time.  I have been keeping up with the reviews.  Now that all my regular shows are over I will be able to finish reviewing Buffy.

    On tv in general:

So I am sad to have no more CSI and Bones and GA *tear*.  Now is the long waiting game until September.  The good thing is Dexter and Weeds will be starting sometime soon.  And I am looking forward to giving Californication a chance as I like David Duchovny.

    On life in general:

Work.  Well I still love my job but there have been a few days that have challenged that.  Anyone out there that is in customer service can get this...people suck!!  And anyone out there who is in healthcare can get this...people, when they become patients, suck even more.  There have been some real jerks at work recently.  Things with my office manager have gotten worse and better.  More on that saga soon as I have to have a talk with the boss today and let her know that there was an issue.  BTW - I really like my boss!!

    On health:

Well the doc thinks he has finally found the right combo of drugs to take care of all of the heart issues.  Time will tell if he's right.

On reality and how to escape it:

So last weekend I needed a break from it all...from work and the heat of Vegas and stuff.  So I decided to head of to Southern California for the Renaissance Pleasure Faire.  It's a thing that my family and I do every year.  And we go in full costume.  The costume that I have is is at the level of nobility (basically lots of layer including a bum roll and a hoop skirt and a dress that has a corset type top).  It's a production, but nice to just kinda go escape reality.

    Thought of the Day:

    Pillage First, Then Burn!!

So this last weekend was a fun and busy one. On Saturday my father and I hopped on the back of his bike (a Harley) and drove to Laughlin for the annual River Run. Think of about 100,000 bikers heading to a small town for the vendors and the music and the fun. This was like my forth or fifth time going. It's a tradition. The weather was warm - 104 degrees - a record high for this time of year in Laughlin. I got a bit sunburned as I put sunscreen on my face but not my arms. Oh well. It was still fun. Then Sunday I had all the domestic stuff to do (laundry, cleaning) and so I mixed that with catching up on my TV shows from last week and submitting for a new guide. I needed to go food shopping, but with the pink skin from this weekend I really didn't want to head out into the sun quite so soon.

I did get the guide which was Alan Rosenberg (actor and hubby to Marg Helgenberger).  I also made my 400th review. My goal was to go all out and get the last subs that I needed to make 2000, but I just didn't have time.  With the late update that came today I did get a little boost in the %.

In upsetting news I never heard back about the extra job. And when I tried calling I got a message saying the voicemail was full and to please call back. *le sigh*

For all of you out there that make composite videos - what software do you use and why?? I am interesting in getting into that and want to get something good.

So I got a picture of the run from this year (well at least one of the parking lot)...

So I need everyone out there to cross their fingers for me...yesterday I dropped of some photos at a local talent agency that is holding an open casting call was a certain show that is filming here in Vegas. I don't want to say the name of show for fear that I will jinx it, but send thoughts for me to be an extra...

So work is going ok. More good flowing days than bad ones right now. And I have had a few good talks with my boss (the dentist that owns the office). She is super great and willing to answer any question no matter how silly I think that it is. I don't think that I could have asked for a better boss!! I am still working on the one personality conflict that is in the office. The situation is not getting any better, but I am starting to understand it more.

So here at tv.com I have moved up to level 35. It was a slow process as I have had like no time to contribute at all. I have been hoping to find some time as I am so close to 2000 subs, but that just hasn't happened.

So my jeep is now 6 days old and I still love her. I have been looking for some new off-roading trails around here that I can take her on next weekend when I have a little bit of time. For those who didn't see the pics from my last blog, check out my new girl HERE...

So I hope you all are having a good week...

So I realized after typing this blog I started every paragraph with so...random...

So I snapped a few pics of my new jeep. I went with the Rubicon for all the fun stuff for off-roading (I am planning the first outing for two weeks away). I went and signed all the paperwork on Friday, but the jeep that I wanted wasn't the easiest to find so it had to be sent in from Arizona.  This is the first big purchase that I have made (other than school, but that is a different thing).  It was a bit overwhelming. Anyways I went and got it on Saturday then it got rained on on Sunday. But that's ok, Jeep's like being dirty. I took the top off today as the weather in Vegas is supposed to be good for about two days (high 60's today and 100 by Thursday - such is spring in Vegas).  So anyways here it is...

So I had an interesting night last night, I swear it was a full moon or some other cosmic force. The reason for this statement - the crazies were coming out of the wood-work last night at work. I have this lady who keeps showing up for emergency appointments for the same problem, but never wants to do what needs to be done to take her out of pain. This is the third time I have seen her and she keeps saying the same thing that she isn't ready to have the treatment done. I just tell her that it does no good for her to keep coming in for emergency visits if she won't take the treatment. The other super fun patient was the one who decided to tell me about how to be a dentist. Because Joe Schmo of the streets obviously knows more about dentistry than me. I was soo annoyed. I was about ready to had her the instruments and be like "If you know it all, here, do the procedure." But other than the strange day at work, things are going ok. I am going car shopping this weekend as my jeep is having issues. It has stranded me a few times this week and is older so time for a new one. Yes I am getting another jeep. I really love the one that I have, love going off-roading, it's just having some issues.

So that is my life right now. Hope you all are having a good week.

So I am really drained today. The funeral was yesterday. I was not crying, but getting really emotional during the services, but then lost it right at the end. Corey (my friend who passed) had a son who is about two, Gino. Well at the end of the services when the family had the final moment to say goodbye, Corey's wife and sister were kneeling at the casket and Gino went running up to the casket and said "dada". There was not a dry eye in the place. So right now I am emotionally spent. Then today my parents moved into their new house so I was up super early and helping move boxes to the new house and helping unload so I am physically tired (and sore).

So that is where I have been for the last little bit. All I want to do is sleep tomorrow and maybe watch some of the tv that I had to DVR last week.

Hope you all are having a better week/weekend than I am...

So I guess it's my turn to show another tattoo. This one was done Jan 06. It was a present to myself for passing boards and getting ready to graduate and everything. I had heard some interesting and good things about Hart & Huntington Tattoo in the Palms. I hadn't heard that there was a reality show being filmed there though. So I went down one night to have it done and took my dental anatomy book with me. Well one of the artists Clark really liked my idea and wanted to be the one to ink me, he also asked if I wanted to be filmed for Inked. So I thought it was cool and went ahead will all of the paperwork and the interviews for filming. My story was aired on the last episode of the second season, called Symbolic Ink. Kind of a random story. Well I still have three more tattoos to talk about in future blogs. The problem with this picture is that there is a fare amount of detail in the tattoo and the picture doesn't do it justice. Silly tv.com won't let me post a pic (tried a million times) so the link will have to do.

So this weekend was a laid back weekend. Did the normal house stuff (laundry and grocery shopping and stuff). I also bought Buffy Season 8 comic. It was good, all the humor and random pop culture references that are Joss, but it was so short. I read it in like five mins. Can't wait for the rest. I also got Extras season 1 on dvd (rented) so I am going to try to watch a few episode of that tonight. That's about all in my little world right now. Hope you all had a good weekend!!
