    Unleashing...

So I picked up The Force Unleashed yesterday - traded in a few games and got the 360 version preowned (and like brand new) for £13.99. So not to bad a purchase if it turns out to be an epic fail. So far though, I am enjoying things. The gameplay is much in the style of a hack and slash - you run upto enemies and batter them into submission with your lightsaber, or blitz them from afar with Force Grip, Lightning and Push. Punting Jawas has never been more entertaining - and one achievement ("Bully") give you some GamerPoints for killing 35 Jawas too. Now that's what I call rewards

Of course there are more combos and powers to be unlocked throughout the course of the game, but for the most part the combat looks as though it is going to be pretty much the same throughout. Boss battles come into their own to break things up a bit and require some more thought and strategy. In fact I'm currently stuck with the Jedi at the end of Raxus Prime. But for the most part, pummelling your opponent with generally work. The set pieces are well constructed and the button mashing end sequences are fun to watch - although everything really does smack of God of War in the Star Wars universe. It is pretty much identical in many respects.

As the reviews have stated, the massive annoyance is the camera. Most of the time you will be fighting with this as opposed to the droid that is trying (very successfully) to cave your skull in. This is going to lead to a lot of restarts, especially against some of the mini-bosses. Fortunately, the Jedi boss battles tend to have a wide panning camera to take in all the action, so this is less of a destraction here.

Overall, Force Unleashed is fun, and is probably a must buy for a Star Wars fan. But don't expect too much from it, as most of what is on show is simply old tricks wrapped up in a shiny new Sith shaped package.

Does anyone have The Force Unleashed?

And if so could they tell me their opinion on it?

I have heard that ot only takes around 6 hours to beat - which is pretty lame for a proper console game. It's probably more suited to the handhelds instead. But I'm still quite intrigued about the game as I am a huge Star Wars geek

So if anyone has either the Wii or the Xbox 360 version can they tell me which is the better option. I might look into trading something in or renting it etc.

    Thanks in advance guys!!

    Final Fantasy 4 views

I picked up the new DS version of FFIV at the beginning of the week - it was only released on the 5th in the UK, so that explains the late arrival . I have to say I'm very impressed so far. The graphics are very well produced and the gameplay is great. The voice acting is a little off for what I'd imagine the characters to sound like, but you can't have everything though.

The augment system is very good, and appears fairly balanced, although, I didn't think it was explained clearly enough that you have to meet certain conditions to gain some the augments from your characters when they leave the party for good. But at least this encourages a second (or even third) play through. And I'm certainly one for hanging onto Final Fantasy games so I can play through them again.

The battles have suffered a bit as they have reintroduced the ability to have more than 3 creatures in a fight. This means that the character models are smaller compared to FFIII, and therefore they don't look as great. However, in Boss battles it switches to a view similar to FFIII where the camera is behind the party and it is much better.

The storyline isn't overly tweaked and the dialogue runs fairly smoothly too, and Edward is still a "Spoony Bard" in Tellah's eyes so everything is good here!

Over all it is a great DS game and I'm looking forward to spending a good few hours pouring over it!
