I'm starting to study for the GRE. I bought a vocab review book and I was just skimming through...oh my gosh
There's so much English I don't know!
Anyways >___>
I'm got a small dilema. I want my masters in bioinformatics. However, I REALLY don't want to have to commute or relocate to get it. The university in town isn't really the best school for this type of degree. v___v
I did some searching and I discovered John Hopkins University has an online masters degree for bioinformatics. Which is awesome, because then I won't have to comute or relocate but...those near me strongly discourages the whole "online" degree thing >__>
ugh...decisions, decisions.

The deadline to apply for bachelor's degree was June 1st. I just found out today.

This means I won't be able to get my degree until Spring 2010 even though I'm done with all my courses!!!
(edit: to clarify, I will be done with all my courses ( just 2) in Fall 2009)Needless to say this SUCKS!!!

...there may be a tiny glimmer of hope. I'm on a first name basis with the Dean of the College of Science, so maybe...maybe he will be able to pull some strings for me, but I'm not very optimistic about it

Update:
I contacted my academic advisor and it seems all hope is not lost

I'm still on track to graduate Fall '09
(tears of joy) ...they were accepting late applications *phew*- Posted Jul 15, 2009 11:08 pm PT

For years I've managed to avoid this game. Mostly because I didn't want to spend the effort in finding a copy >___>

And partly because I was spoiled by today's graphics and had a hard time getting over the blocky-ness of the character models.
But finally, I've found the opportunity to play it and it's great.
Shame on me for never pickng it up.
It took me about an hour to adjust to the primitive graphics >.> And now that I've gotten into the story, it's soooo hard to stop playing. It's like my new drug

That aside...How's life? >__> I've haven't logged on in months, so I don't know what's going on around here and stuffs. >.> Busy with skool and work. But, I wanted you all to know, I missed you guys.

...and I bought a game. >.>

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year edition
My boyfriend said I can't call myself a gamer and not play at least one of these games.
So I bought it. >___>
I was kinda in due for a new PS3 game anyways...
For some reason I was really, really craving an RPG. So, tihs should hold me over 'til June 12th.
Anywho...tomorrow is my last day of c-l-a-s-s for the Spring semester and Thursday is my first final.
It's in Computer Algorithms, so hopefully it won't be too bad. I skipped like a month's worth of c-l-a-s-s-e-s so I have a lot of catch-up between now and Thursday
Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Why hello there.
Long time no see, eh?
Where did Ashley run off too?!
Well...to make a long story short: School + Work =/= Time to blow on whatever.
I don't even have much time to spend on gaming.
...I'm like only 15 minutes into Assassin's Creed and I owned the game since a week before Christmas...same goes for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. ...pfft and I call myself a gamer.
Speaking of skool...I calculated the other day I have appx. 1.5 years left 'til I get my degree...which means I will graduate in Fall '09 (if I'm lucky) ...or maybe Spring '10 (if I'm lazy)...Can we say w00tness?
Unfortunately, I'm not on the "4-year" plan...I'm shootin' for "4.5 year" plan. >__>
So, anyways...what have you guys been up to lately? How's life treating ya? Good me hopes. ^_____^

UAH or UAHuntsville
So, UAH (my school for those that don't know) just got a new president in a few months ago. And the guy is already wanting to change the name of the school.
...well, more specificly, the way it's written or something. But what makes it so f-ed up, the guy doesn't even notify the students before actually putting this through..noooo...he does it behind our backs.
Let me explain a bit.
UAH = University of Alabama in Huntsville. It's part of the University of Alabama system.
It's been known as UAH every since it was created back in 1950.
So, in 2007...we get a new president who changes (or wants to change) the name of our school and he hasn't even been in office for half a year, not even a quarter a year.

There's a petition up. And there's a rapidly growing group on Facebook:Students for UAH and Against UA Huntsville.
Anywho, this is why he wants to change the name of our school, paraphrasing from what i read in the newspaper the other day:
"When people from outta state hear the name UAH, they don't know what what it stands for. University of Arizona, Arkansas (sp). By changing it to UAHuntsville, people will know it's related to the University of Alabama, just in Huntville"
Which so retarded to me. Personally I don't want UAH to be considered more closely to the University of Alabama. First off, I'm an Auburn fan. (cough) >__>
But, another student pretty much summed up most of my thoughts when she said:
"UAHuntsville not only just looks like a typo but it emphasizes us being a branch of UA. UAH needs to be set apart because we have WAY better rankings than UA and changing the name is basically totally degrading our school..."
anywho...I guess I'll just have to see how things go from here. :-/

NOTE: **** == "class" or "classes"

One week 'til the Fall '07 semester kicks off. I soooo excited.

I even have what I gonna wear for the week all planned out.
Especially on the first day. (it's a dress...which for Ashley is something big.
)I'm dressing to impress.
(of course it's related to some guy
) details here: Speaking of the male sex, there's this other guy...who, I guess is still interested in me...I dunno. I can't say the same for him. I thought I sent him clear signals in the past. Maybe I should be rather blunt. I try to avoid it sometimes.
...I can be mean. v__v
But anyways..apparently his relationship w/his past girlfriend ended and now he's interested in talking to me again. I got a text the other day saying something like "hey, let's go out for lunch. You just need to spend your time and I got everything else." ...I didn't notice it 'til like an hour or so after he sent it. But, I responded and I guess I have a free lunch set for Wednesday around 11.

I guess I'll find out his intentions then. Hopefully.
Anywho...I'm so excited about this school year. Especially for Charger ACM...the other officers and I and have been working our butts off to revive this organization on campus. Wish us luck! We're gonna need it.

...what a summer this is shaping up to be.
Update on work:
I'm having fun, learning lots and I'm no longer coding in Python or IronPython
...my next major assignment will be in C++. My brain has deallocated a lot my memory on pointers and what not...fortunately, I'm a quick learner.Oh, and something interesting I found out today, COLSA has the world's largest Apple cluster of computers. (I'm not sure if that's changed yet...) For a small company in Alabama...that really surprises me. Unfortunately, it's not in my department nor building...so I don't think I'll ever get to see it.

Update on school:
I'm only taking one course: Linear Algebra...so far it is actually quite easy. I just always make stupid mistakes.
We just started vector spaces and my professor said this the part of the course where she loses most of her students.
Update on life:
T-minus 11 days and counting...New Mexico...here I come!

Finally the vacation I've been needing since like forever! My best friend and I will be flying in sometime July 1st. I'm so excited.

However, on a lower note...My grandmother passed away last Wednesday. She was laid to rest Monday. It's weird knowing that I'll never see her again...

I'm almost certain.
At the PX there's this Military Appreciation package for the 360. It includes the "pro" 360, Project GR 3, Viva La Pinta, some Unplugged thingie and a 12 month subscription to Xbox live for $449.99 and since it's at the PX no tax added.
I'm not really interested in the games included but, I've been wanting a 360, well primarily for Mass Effect, but this seems like a good offer so, why pass it up, you know? >__>
The only thing holding me back is I hardly have time for gaming nowadays.
x 10000My PS2 barely gets an hour a week. Same goes for my PSP and DS. Actually I don't think I've touched either handheld since the beginning of May.
So, I figure the same fate for a 360 as well...
x____x
Any suggestions? I've really been wanting a copy of Gears too. >_>

At work that is...

...I guess I should fill you in about that. I don't think I've mentioned it here. May 1st I started a new job...it's a temp thing, just for the summer...but I'm working at a company in Research Park and I'm in the software engineering department and they're working on a big project, but I'm not really at liberty to give any details on.
For the first few weeks I was like... -->

But I'm no longer lost...although a thing or two may arise that leaves me with a few questions, but for the most part I'm not in great need for a life jacket.
I'm working with a really cool programming language: Python (and IronPython...it's Python but w/access to Microsoft's .NET libraries)
You guys should definitely check it out sometime. I *heart* it. This past week I've started writing scripts for them and I love my job there. I wonder if they'll let me work part-time when summer's up. That'd be so awesome, if I could...I dunno...haha, I should ask.
Anywho...that's why I've kinda gone AWOL here again. That and I'm still working part-time at my other job and summer semester has begun at UAH. I'm only taking one course...though (but it's 2 hours long
) I hope you guys are enjoying your summer. ^___^

Hi.

Long time...no see...for those of you I don't run into on the forums. >_>
Me + school + job = little time for online

That goes for gaming too :'(
Or hanging out v____v
Tv.
Sleep....the list goes on and on really. :-/
............................................
So...a brief update of my life:
This semester has been "meh"...I eagerly await it's end.
Most of my life is spent on the 3rd floor of Technology Hall...the floor is the Computer Science Department.
Crazy bunch of folks up there I'd say. :-/
And that's about it.
Oh...well, one more thing...

I'm in training...for D&D :0 Lol.
I met this one dude, and seriously...the last person I'd ever expect to be into something like this...but hey, I guess looks can be decieving...anywho...yeah...I'm his "apprentice" now.
And...that's about it...for now.

4Feb 07Please feel free to disagree with me

Okay, well...first off...say...she did win the Democratic election and progressed to the presidential election >.>
I want to say, "Hell NO..I will never ever ever vote for her"
I think she'd make a horrible leader. (but hey, I've been wrong before)...but... She changes her point of view regularly...she says basically what you want to hear, but her actions speak larger than words. And nooo...yeah, I know, she's not the only politican that does this, but....ohmeegee...I'd say she does it more often than others.
Like recently she said, "If I was president in October 2002, we would not be in this war!" ...or something like that...yet she voted to go to war.
I'd really like her explain that >_>...and the list goes on, but that was the most recent one. I wish politicans would stop being so dodgey and start going to tough inteviews.
And secondly, well...I should say I'm an Independent...Democrats, Republicans...both parties have disappointed me...however, I'm more conservative than I am liberal, so I'd most likely vote for a Republican over a Democrat...go figure. >.>
And you know something...since I am ranting a bit...I must say the Democrat party is really starting to scare me.
It's becoming increasingly more Socialist in nature. And you know....what made America a strong country, a place where you could rise up from nothing and become something is capitalism. And personally, I like America being mostly capitalistic country.
The whole idea of redistrubting wealth irks my nerves...I mean, now...I don't pay a whole lot in taxes, but when I do...this would probably bother me more...but the way I see it...what right does the government have to take money from my paycheck and then redistrubt it to others who don't make as much as me. That may sound a bit selfish to some, but...
Life isn't fair...bottom line, however this is a country where you can make something of yourself if you try hard enough, even if you came from nothing. There's countless stories of this. But if you don't put any effort into getting anywhere, I can't really sympathize.
I don't mind paying taxes. I think they're necessary, when being used well, however...the whole idea of heavy taxes, just for them to redistrubt wealth...no-no, I don't think so.
Hopefully...we won't have to worry about that, but...ah well.
OH, and, another thing...since this is a political blog in nature.
The whole idea of immediate withdrawl of troops....WTF?
But do people not realize, what the consequence would be if we withdrawled from Iraq in it's current state? I mean, seriously, what do you think would happen if we left, just like that? All those lives lost in the Iraqi war would be in vain. Because Iraq would eventually become a terrorist safe-haven.
It would embolden the terrorist. It would make America look like a weak nation, a nation of cowards, a nation that couldn't stomach the fight in the eyes of the terrorists.
Now please, feel free to disagree w/me.
AND even more! Bills proposed to stop funding the US troops there? WTF? What the hell...why would anyone would want to stop funding those Americans out there. It frusterates me hearing that.
Bottom line is...we're in Iraq, whether you agree w/it or disagree/it. Pre-maturely w/drawling troops would only harm us more in the future.
(and fyi...I am I military brat and I do have family out there)
At least that's the way I see it.
...well..*takes deep breath* ...AH! I just felt like going off a bit.
