I'm with you on not being able to justify the full price for games. Particularly when if I wait for a bit I can get it for much less. But I'm honestly confused as to why Sega would not release a finished game and push it back 8 months. Game releases are relatively weak right now so Anarchy Reigns would have stood out nicely this summer. It's a niche game from a powerhouse developer that has some hype behind it from the intended audience. So why push it back 8 months?
As for the decent story, you haven't played MadWorld. I honestly view Anarchy Reigns as a sequel to MadWorld. And MadWorld's awesome story has me excited to see how Anarchy Reigns' story pans out. Unfortunately I won't be able to play it myself anymore since my 360 died. So whatever.
@NeonNinja There certainly are many MadWorld characters that appear in AR and clearly a few dialog lines that indicate past altercations that refer back to MadWorld, but I wouldn't consider it a sequel at all because it isn't any more than a small few passing references. The story definitely has nothing to do with anything that happened in MadWorld.
Well I wouldn't expect the story to have anything to do with MadWorld as that game closed its narrative. I agree with you (despite not playing the game) that it isn't really a sequel to MadWorld in terms of narrative and all, but I honestly think that might actually open up story-telling potential for Platinum. Different stories set in the same world.
It would be a bit like what Kurosawa did with Yojimbo and than Sanjuro. One is considered the sequel to the other, but the stories have no connection. Not that I'm comparing Platinum's work to Kurosawa, but you get what i mean. Hopefully.... :P
