Playstation 3 is great with or without online gaming?
In case you haven't heard, the PS3 has been hacked from an outside source, meaning that some jerk could have your card details in front of them right now. Also its resulted in having the PSN network being closed for some time whilst they tighten up the security to ensure that this doesn't happen again. To be honest, it will probably happen again in the future, where theres computers, we will have hackers, FACT ! So i'm thinking "Oh no, i can't play my games online, what will i do !?" *curls up into a ball and weeps* . Well luckily the PS3 has plenty games you can enjoy without online play: Infamous, Heavy rain, Ratchet and Clank, Mass effect 2, God of War 3 to name a few, iv'e found myself investing a lot of my time playing the old PS1 games. Sure they look terrible in comparison to todays games, but the game play is still as solid as ever and, in some cases, puts some games of today to shame. Playing Rayman was just as hard as it was when i was 13 years old, and trying to get as many points as i could in destruction derby without trashing the front of my car proved to be quite difficult too. Not to mention the hours spent in Theme park world, figuring out how to run a park with out committing suicide within the first 20 mins of the game. Whilst playing all of these PS1 games i had realized an interesting fact, the fact that i had to "think" about how to get the best from the game, rather than be led on a rail and be told what to do every 4 seconds. I'm not saying all games today are like that, they have plenty of difficult game out there. It's just that with the older games they seem more "difficult" which gives you a greater satisfaction when you beat it. Plus, back then we didn't have the internet to tell us what to do when we got stuck, all we had was determination and patience. Sometimes the best strategy was to leave the game and come back to it the week after !! Although online gaming has without a doubt re-written the gaming world today, we should forget about the games we used to play before. They were so much fun back then without the internet and they still satisfy today. So please, go play Metal gear solid, Final Fantasy 7, 8 or 9, go play Rayman and ask yourself, would online functionality improve these games??
