    My Top 5 Changes

Okay, I probably could have had a top 10 or top 20 list, but these are my top 5

    1. Being able to PM anyone from the site instead of having to use a different site to contact my friends. I know this is probably a bug, but I thought it would have been fixed by now.

    2. Changing the number of tracked blogs from 4 to at least 10, and returning the number of comments that have been posted on the blogs, and how many of those comments I haven't read.

    3. The white background. Not good when you have eyes like mine that are already dodgy.

    4. Returning the icons to the profiles. I was trying to build them up!

    5. Being able to read past the current 20 comments on everyone's blogs. Once again, probably a bug, but I expected it would have been taken care of.

Okay, I could have gone on, and I agree with many of the other changes people hae suggested.

    Yag

Well, I think enough has been said about the new TV.com layout, so I'll restrict my comments about it as much as possible

I was going to post this blog a few days ago, but the new layout put me out a bit, I'm still finding my way around. It feels like starting over

Anyway, I know I said a couple of months ago that my blogs would probably be only focused on my uni research with my insects. Well, seems I lied This blog will be about something else too, although I won't promise anything about the next couple of blogs

Well yesterday, I didn't go to uni. I had a very good reason though! I had an appointment with my ophthalmologist for a procedure called YAG, or Yttrium aluminium garnet laser iridotomy. I had to have drops in my eyes, which made my pupils really tiny, and gave me a headache and made me feel a little nauseau (not the best feeling), before my ophthalmologist lasered a tiny hole in each of my eyes.

It was a little bit uncomfortable, and I slept for three hours after mum dropped me at home, but will be worth it - by October 15, I should be able to say goodbye to my glasses! Thanks to my kind grandma, as a 21st Birthday present, she's paying for me to get ICL's (or implantable contact lenses). I was going to have laser surgery, but my corneas are apparently just a little bit too thin, so it wouldn't be worth the risk. However, ICL's appear to be just as good, if not better than laser surgery

I know I'll have to wear glasses again eventually, but that doesn't bother me. If I can be 10/20 years glasses-free, it'll be well worth it!

I've always wanted to go to the beach and be able to see where I was swimming!

Hopefully now I can - there are a few complications that can occur - I just hope these will be avoided

And I also apologise if it sounds like I'm boasting I promise, I didn't mean for it to be that way.

Weekend's almost here, hope everyone has a good one!

P.S I decided no pics for the blog, as some would have been a little squeemish!

    Threatened Species Week

    THREATENED SPECIES WEEK

The worst sin towards our fellow creaturs is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them. That's the essence of inhumanity.

    - George Bernard Shaw

Okay, this week is Threatened Species Week. On Sunday, 7th September, was Threatened Species Day (I was planning to post this blog then, but I'll blame my uni work )

Anyway, so 7th September was chosen for Threatened Species Day because on that day, back in 1936, the last Thylacine (Tasmanian tiger) dies in the Hobart Zoo.

Why am I blogging about this? Because I'm a conservationist at heart, and I am shamed to admit that I live in the country that in 200 years, half of all the recorded mammal species that have become extinct have come from Oz (Australia). So from a recent article, five of our most threatened species of macropods (kangaroos and wallabies) were listed. So here they are:

    1. Bridled nailtail wallaby - rediscovered, thought to be extinct, it's closest relative, the cescent nailtail wallaby, unfortunately, is extinct.

    2. Gilbert's potoroo

    3. Northern Bettong

    4. Long-footed potoroo

    5. Nabarlek (pygmy rock wallaby)

Okay, I better go to bed soon, uni tomorrow. Can't wait for this month to be over, I can then just concentrate on my research!
