In addition to True Blood - I thought I'd blog about the other shows I'm enjoying this year.

I just discovered Lie To Me and love it. I like shows that make me think. I also love the Mentalist, Fringe, and the 11th Hour. They all seem to have that singular person who saves the day - might be a theme: a behavioral psychologist, a mentalist, a scientist, and an insane scientist. The fact that they are all flawed people who are always right makes them even more appealing to me.

I also loved My Own Worst Enemy - a very clever well done show that started late and unfortunately didn't get an audience.

I love Life and hope it survives because it is also so well done with engaging characters. I can't get into Life on Mars after having been a fan of the British version but I suspect anyone seeing it for the first time would enjoy it. Sorry to see Eli Stone cancelled. It has been slow this year and I'm not sure why - I just wish it could have had more time.

I got into Lipstick Jungle this season and actually purchased the whole 1st season. I must be a jinx because it was cancelled shortly after I found it. The same thing happened to Pushing Daisies which I found for the first time this year. If you have a favorite show, drop me a note and I'll try not to watch it.

So watching State of Play turned me on to a wonderful actor John Simm. To see more of John I found Life on Mars and I love it! One of the best series ever! So well done - I was around in the 70s and this show actually got it right.

The premise is a chief Inspector who has a car accident and ends up back in the 70s. You don't know if he is in a coma, dreaming, or really there. Anyway you look at it it's like Life On Mars.

Life on Mars will be done in the US this fall. I can't imagine it could possibly be as good without the English actors.

John Simm is also in Doctor Who and since I loved Torchwood so much, I will venture down that path also. It's really not the doctor Who from the 80s - its all new since 2005. Of course the shows I'm watching are all award winning shows so I'm picking the creme of the crop.

If this keeps up, I might find a fondness for Tea. Maybe not, but I defiitely have a fondness for Britt TV.

I keep finding such good TV. I watched all 7 seasons of Buffy and most of Angel. Spike became my favorite character. I started watching Torchwood for James Marsters and love the show - found a new actor I love - Burn Gorman.

Keeping with British TV I am now a big fan of Shameless and enjoyed State of Play, a 6 part political thriller also written by Paul Abbott.

Here in the states I'm back to watching my TNT favorites The Closer and Saving Grace. For the summer I'm watching Burn Notice also.

There is good TV out there - you just have to find it!

Well not really, but I wanted to get your attention. I am progressing. I have added friends day by day and now I have 49. I have to rotate them at random since I can only display 40. I find I am liking this very much. I read the new moods at the top and the bulletins. I get some nice messages in my inbox and comments on my page! On Saturday when I was frustrated I posted an editorial about HN and got some nice responses. It is a great megaphone for Moonlight!

Just like on TV.com I find I am becoming friends with some people. I like everyone but sometimes you just make a connection with people. So some are becoming better friends as we go along and find we have more in common. It happens like making friends anywhere. Trevor Munson accepted me as a friend. I don't know if we will become close friends. Only time would tell but I like his page. It is just a white space with his comments and blogs. Not pretentious at all. If we did become friends I could give him some hot ideas for those 2 vampires!

Interestingly. My 2 daughters, a grandaughter and a family firend are also on. I noticed my daughter had indicated a funny mood and called her at work. She has a Doctor's appoitment tomorrow and is maybe a little concerned. As we talked it became apparent that maybe she wanted some company for this appointment so I'm going. It was a conversation we would not have had if not for myspace.

So, yes - I like myspace more and more everyday.

    What is HTML?

HTML is the language of web pages. HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is a programming language used on the WWW (World Wide Web) in order to create web pages. Web browsers than interpret the HTML and display it so that users are able to view it. HTML is actually a very simple language once the basic concepts are understood. HTML is a client-side language which means the data is interpreted locally on your computer, not from the server.

So we use HTML many places including here on TV.com when we do hyper links or when we make spoilers. Probably the way to make spoilers is a good example of HTML. For example the word spoiler enclosed in [ ] starts the spoiler code. To end it enclose the same words in brackets with a /proceeding the word. Unfortunately I haven't figured out how to show you exactly without the code working!

    ***SPOILER***

On myspace you can use the same method with different codes such as 'B' for bold or 'big' to make your text bigger. Just enclose them in the brackets and end the code with the /code within brackets.

Gone are the days when I just sat down and enjoyed TV. Before Moonlight I was the furthest thing from a TV Junkie that anyone could imagine. Never even heard of the word showrunner! As I tried to find out more information yesterday I was amazed at how much people who follow TV know. Names of potential showrunners were thrown out like casual acquaintences. I am now convinced that to actually support Moonlight or any other show, I have to understand the industry better. Anyone who knows more (not too difficult a challenge) chime in. For those of you like me who are learning I have placed a quiz at the end of the blog. Answers tomorrow!

    Showrunners from wikipedia.org:
Show runner is a term used in the United States television industry referring to the person who is responsible for the day-to-day operation of a television series, in other words, the person who "runs" the show. The term is also occasionally applied to people in the television industries of other countries.

Variety defines it as the executive producer. The de facto showrunner may, however, be someone completely different. The blog (and book) Crafty Screenwriting defines showrunner as "the person responsible for all creative aspects of the show, and responsible only to the network (and production company, if it's not his production company). The boss. Usually a writer."

Los Angeles Times columnnist Scott Collins describes show runners as:

"hyphenates," a curious hybrid of starry-eyed artists and tough-as-nails operational managers. They're not just writers; they're not just producers. They hire and fire writers and crew members, develop story lines, write scripts, cast actors, mind budgets and run interference with studio and network bosses. It's one of the most unusual and demanding, right-brain/left-brain job descriptions in the entertainment world....[S]how runners make - and often create - the shows, and now more than ever, shows are the only things that matter. In the "long tail" entertainment economy, viewers don't watch networks. They don't even care about networks. They watch shows. And they don't care how they get them.

Traditionally, the showrunner is the creator or co-creator of the series, but this is not always the case. In long running shows, often the creator of the show moves on, and day to day responsibilities of showrunning devolves to other writers or writing teams. ER, The Simpsons, The West Wing and NYPD Blue are all examples of long running shows that went through multiple showrunners.

Notable TV Showrunners - What shows are they famous for?

I hid the answers in the comments of my Blog about Season 2 But one thing I learned was that these successful showrunners were both the creators and the ex. producers (showrunners). All of these guys were the creative vision behind the shows that they ran.

I still don't know enough to figure out what will happen with ML. The creator was Munson but they didn't like his creation and hired Koslow from Beauty and the Beast to write with him. Then they hired Chip to be the showrunner. So ....... is there enough creative vision to get these 4 episodes out and to keep up what we love about the show? We will find out. They did manage to produce episodes 10, 11, and 12 without Chip.

Wow. I went to bed at 10:30 last night. I couldn't post anywhere. I have been such a cheerleader for Moonlight and I felt completely deflated. When I realized that only 5 hours of primetime programming remain to be given out to both old and new shows. wow. Then I thought about how this incredible cast and crew must feel and I plummeted.

In my heart I still believe Moonlight will be renewed. And I will participate fully in our efforts to renew the show. Still, right now I'm pretty mad that CBS gave us this news on Valentine's Day. I'm still reluctant to post much. I hate to discourage the fans. Tough times!

Answers to the quiz are in the comments.

It is over. The long horrible ordeal that impacted so many lives beyond just our show. I will always remember it in relation to Moonlight and the episodes we did not get. On the bright side I discovered so many good books, movies and series that perhaps I should be grateful? More power to Moonlight and more power to the fans! The strike is over, may it RIP.

It's a new year and I find that I have fallen into a routine of sorts. Up early (I'm retired) Start the Coffee. Feed the Dogs. Sit down at the computer. Vote at Hey Nielson. Comment at CBS. Visit my favorite sites and look for any buzz I can find on ML,or JD. Fan the buzz however I can. Then on to exercise and good livng. I am staying off of the computer a little more this year but my dedication to JD is still strong! It's good to have a routine!

I no sooner wrote this then found out that ML is to be put on hiatis 2/22! New routing. Send feedback to CBS.com every 15 minutes. New exercise routine!

tubpat and JOSEF - now there is a romance for the ages! It does not matter that it is entirely a creation of tubpat because it just makes me smile. tubpat, who did not exist until this past fall has become my alter ego. She definitely goes places I would hesitate to follow but she has so much more fun. tubpat was born when Pat (that would be the real me) needed a user name for her brand new youtube account. Being a person of poor memory, I decided to be Tubepat. The insanity of a missingkeystroke and tubpat was born. What a silly name. So unlike anything I wanted to be. tubpat sounds fat. The real me goes to Curves and Yoga and is honestly trying to lose weight - but do I have to appear fat on the internet?

So tubpat was born. No caps. Just tubpat. First she fell in love with Mick and then she became so enamored of JOSEF. I think he is her one true love! And somewhere along the way - I fell in love with tubpat. More power to her and to all the tubpats of the world!

If you want to know what to watch, you can do no better than to listen to a Moonlight fan. Propop recommended a mini-series to me called North & South. I missed it before. Being in the United States I would have thought it was another story about the civil war. If you like Pride and Prejudice, you will love North & South. The story follows 19 year old Margaret who travels to Milton, a northern Mill town with her father and mother. The genteel Margaret is appalled by the dirt, noise, and tragic conditions of the workers. She is also appalled by John Thornton the proprietor of the mill. A more vulgar man in "trade" and beneath her socially and ethically. As you can imagine, John thornton, (played by Richard Armitage - my newest crush) falls for and is rejected by Margaret who still has many lessons to learn in life. All of this with perhaps the most exquisite ending I have ever seen. Thanks Propop! This is also the first time I heard of Elizabeth Gaskell novels that were written about 50 years after Jane Austin's. I plan on finding more of them. I would never have heard of her if not for a Moonlight fan half way around the world!

I never used to watch much TV. Therefore I missed a lot of good shows that I can now order on DVD. I recently watched a movie called Catch and Release that I loved. It stared Timothy Olyphant, who I had never heard of. After much research I ended up at Deadwood, another series I never watched but wanted to. Have ordered Deadwood now. Likewise my love of Pride and Prejudice brought me to Matthew MacFadyen who I found stars in the first 3 seasons of MI-5. I have the BBC versions on their way to me. I also ordered a few Colin Firth movies after watching the 6 hour version of Pride and Prejudice and the 2 Bridget Jones again. Lots of books, lots of movies, and series TV.

I am prepared for the siege. I never watched much TV. As soon as I get interested the writers go on strike. So I decided that if I spend a fortune on TV Series, Books, and Movies - the strike will surely be resolved just to teach me another cosmic lesson. One can only hope ...... and discover a great deal of excellent entertainment along the way.

And in between - I promise to exercise.

I edited my introduction post today. Now that the thread is pinned and somewhat permanent I decided I could be more clear about who I am and why I watch Moonlight. When this all started, I didn't know what the term paramormal romance meant. I also confessed that even though I think Mick is the sexiest man on Television, I don't see him if Josef is on the screen. Guess I just like my vampires snarky.

Propop was kind enough to give me a recommendation for North & South. See her comment after my last blog. I checked it out on Amazon. After reading only a few of the 212 - 5 star recommendations, I did the oneclick thing and this BBC mini-series is in the mail and on its way to me! I love getting recommendations and this one sounds absolutely wonderfull!

There's no movement in the strike and now Moonlight is postponed another week. I don't know what is worse waiting until 1/11 instead of 1/4 or the long long wait for episode 13. I have decided to script my own entertainment. Ever since I found Veronica Mars,(cancelled before I found it), I've been wondering what else I missed. I never watched Buffy or Angel so I've ordered the first season of Buffy. I'll be rewatching Veronica Mars but this time I have the notes from the Love Shack so I can totally torture myself over every exquisite LoVe moment. I've ordered all of the Jane Austin movies, Emma, Persuasion, Sense and Sensibility, and the Colin Firth version of Pride and Prejudice. I'm not a romantic at all - unless its a whopping good story - and then I'm a sucker! Oh shoot, and then that brings me back to the long wait for Moonlight ..........................

TV has been on my mind more this year. Possibly because I have found myself so addicted to 2 shows and maybe because of the strike. First Moonlight and then Veronica Mars. VM kind of calmed my ML addiction. It helps not to have all your eggs in one basket. I wonder if it isn't partly the world we live in today and a stronger desire to escape. I think that is what drew me to Moonlight. I'd love to live in a world where vampires like Mick and Josef lived and loved. That wouldn't be a bad place at all.

This morning I found numerous Moonlight Videos on Comcast.net under the titles of Friday Night Hunks and Sexy Vampires! Found Moonllight under "Breaking News" at TV Guide and a recommendation to watch on Zapit TV. Looks like the critics and CBS are coming to the same conclusion. The Moon must be aligning with the planets!

People arrive at Moonlight through a variety of paths. Some loved the vampire genre, some followed Jason Dohring from Veronica Mars, and some like me just stumbled on it and fell down the rabbit hole. I (then) hadn't seen Veronica Mars, I don't dislike vampire shows but I wasn't looking for one so what happened? I watched a bad pilot with a very attractive leading man. Then in the pilot he called himself a monster and I knew I had come home. Ahh I get it - "Beauty and The Beast".... I do love my monsters.
