  My ER Home

  It was a certain blessing on Thursday night, as we saw Gloria Reuben, as former Cook County PA Jeanie Boulet, walk back into the doors of the ER the way she did. You could almost hear bells ring, as some of the re-occuring regulars from seasons 1 to present recognized her so well, and fondly. Seeing her again, now, years after she was happily written off with a new husband and a child she adopted, has been very emotional indeed. A long time fan of the show since the very first episode aired, when it aired, I was pleased. Obviously, not all reunions are gold, and this reason for the always calm and collect Boulet to walk through the doors of County was anything but social. Her son, whom she adopted in the early days of the 6th season, was HIV, now, he has hit his head, and more trouble awaits. Before any real fear can emerge, I am quite sure that long standing fans as myself, could surely appreciate hearing the scoop on characters long since gone. Primarily, Doug and Carol, the doctor and nurse in love. We all know we wanted to hear about them again one day, and keeping true to the original characters, it was long time regular Yvette Freeman as her signature character Nurse Haleh Adams, who told both Boulet and the fans how the couple were, and what they were up to. Gosh, it has been a long time, and keeping in the moment of what's happening with the present, one tends to forget how quickly time goes by. I notice this all the time, but reminders such as Jeanie Boulet are a great deal more to telling me how long I've stuck with this show in every season beginning with One. I suppose seeing one of my favorite characters again was also, in a way, unhealthy. It certainly reminded me of the times long since gone, and I certainly began to miss those early days in the shows past, when I was on the edge of my seat, with glee and intrigue, wondering what would happen next. Such times as the 2 hour pilot, airing September 1994 come to mind. The character of Jeanie Boulet was never around until the later parts of the first season but it nonetheless got my memory ticking. I remember the suspense, the power, the emotion, and the bowl of popcorn I made for the occasion. I had been waiting for the show to start for weeks, and it never let me down once it started, not for eight whole seasons. Now, so many years later, I still watch, having evolved with the show and it's newer characters. for me, obviously, those earlier times will always mean more, but the show is still quite impressive, even for 13 1/2 seasons. I suppose I'm even more so just relieved that the writers were careful in depicting the Jeanie Boulet story line. Much of the writing is fairly poor in condition as compared to the earlier seasons, and the characters, minus Luka and Abby are childish and immature. They name call, and goof around, acting nothing professional like the original cast members did. With all that, I was worried about the writers bringing back an old favorite of mine with these revelations. I'm only happy that the return was wonderfully done, and very emotional. A while ago, I noted that Jeanie was exactly who I wanted to see return, and now I have. I guess, in watching Television, we sometimes get what we want.

  Gloria Reuben returns to ER?

  I just read on tvguide.com that former ER star Gloria Reuben will return to the show for an appearance this season! If this is true I have both joy and concern. The joy is w/ out hesitance. I have missed my favorites for some time. I cannot begin to stress just how much I loved the show upon it's original premiere a ways back in the 1990's I adored every character to the fullest, and Jeanie Boulet was one of my absolute favs. next to Mark and Carol. My heart flutters with delight at the very thought of seeing Boulet once more, for she left on an odd note, many many seasons back. The concern,however, may very well outdo the joy in some areas. The show is nothing like it once was, and I for one have seen it rot over the past season to the lowest point yet, and I don't want to see one of my all time favorite landmark characters taking part on the uselessness of what the series has become these days. The show is still quite good, but I have to admitt that I'm always let down by each passing episode except when it involves Abby. Being the longest running character know, she is the most grounded, and the only interesting character these days. The most recent episode showed Morris to actually have some depth, and total seriousness in him. Well wow! Why haven't we seen this much before. It's quite late in the game for him, but I suppose better late than never. Pratt's a pretty good ting in the show now. He's the longest running next to Abby, having jopined at the tail end of the tragic 8th season. I remember dispising his character once. He's actually much improved now, and carries his own rather well. Still, one other question remains, are ANY of these characters worthy to work alongside the all wonderful Jeanie Boulet...except Abby that is? I have to ask. I hope I'm not the only one here. It's not just Boulet, it's the same thing I would ask were the returning guests to be Clooney and Margulies as well. I was a fan of the originalshow...so to speak. With time, this show has certainly slowed down, and has not been what it once was for quite some time.
  Still, this news of Jeanie Boulet is such a gass that I find myself awaiting more from it...and soon, oh so soon!Cheers!

  Real Time/ MEN IN TREES

  Well, I couldn't agree more witrh Bill Mahar on his show. He speaks the truth in volumes beyond words and volume. Tonight, the episode left me cheering for the writer, his name escapes me, and JOy Bahar from "The View", both of which, could see the republican, name I do not care for, as the seventh grade bully he was. I will certainly watch more of Bill Mahar after this.
     As for the prime time dial, "Men In Trees" season 2 premiered tonight. I still quite livid that it suffered the same effect as "Boston Legal" three years ago. It has a success ful run before it's switched time slots and night schedules, and is then totally removed from the weekly lione-up 5 episodes short of it's season one finale. Now, we're stuck watching it during a fridsy night time slot. It's quite a good show, and I look forward to seeing many seasons after this, but damn ABC for messing it's original format up.
