In this week's cast, I talk about TNT's new anthrocentric dramatic comedy "Men of a Certain Age," as well as Syfy's trippy take on Lewis Carroll's beloved c!assic "Alice." Also, a shout-out to the genre television reviewers at Tuning In to Scifi TV. Original blog posted here.
For my side cast, I talk about the new Christmas special that aired on CBS called "Yes, Virginia." I also celebrated the second season premiere of "Better Off Ted" and the fifth-season resume of "The Closer." I also reiterate my anticipation to the January return and premieres of
"Human Target," "Leverage," "24," "Battlestar Galactica: The Plan" and "Caprica" along with others I mentioned last week including "Chuck," "Psych," "Burn Notice" and "Damages."
Also, a shout-out to Whitney Pandil-Eaton's Prairie Profile of Tony Bernhardt, new general manager at Enerbase in Minot, running in Monday's Minot Daily News.

In this week's cast, I take the Thanksgiving holiday as a moment to reflect on television I've been thankful for in the past year -- and television I've been less thankful for. Included in my reflections are thoughts on the more-than-usually acceptable Day Seven we had with "24." Also, Kim Raver from that series -- the only context of "24" in which I'd call for "More Kim, please!"
-- and her work in "Grey's Anatomy." Also, ABC's decision to burn off a bunch of canceled programming over the summer, which was just the loveliest bit of fan service I've seen since FOX decided to give "Dollhouse" a shot at a second season. Also, a quick shout-out to the "100 Word Stories" podcast's upcoming weekly challenge with a story prompt suggestion of "Smoke." Original blog posted here.
For my side cast, I briefly mention the beginning of the end for Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse," beginning at 8/7c this Friday, next weekend's premiere of the "Alice" miniseries on Syfy, for some reason mention ABC's bucket of holiday schmaltz "Find My Family" premiering Monday, and forget to mention the season finale of FX's "Sons of Anarchy," set for Tuesday at 10/9c (although I do remember to mention it here).
Mostly I look ahead to the series finale of "Monk," devoting pretty much the balance of my sidecast to comment on the run of that show from the summer of 2002 through part two of the finale this Friday, Dec. 4 at 9/8c, following an encore of part one at 8/7c and a daylong back-to-back marathon of excellent episodes beginning at 6/5c on USA. Original blog posted here.

In this week's cast, I review with pleasure the Ann Rule true-crime movies that took over the Lifetime Movie Network including "Too Late to Say Goodbye," "And Never Let Her Go" and "Everything She Ever Wanted." Original blog posted here.
For my side cast, I talked about the series resume of "Glee" and looked forward to the AMC premiere of its six-episode miniseries "The Prisoner" with a first-ever "gag reel" at the end and a shout-out to a_spod. Original blog posted here.

In this week's cast, my colleague Andrea Johnson takes over my TV column while I'm on vacation and talks about her experience as a Nielsen family, and her impressions of CBS's "The Mentalist." Original blog posted here.
For my side cast, I explore in detail the fact that I watch far too much television, having spent the past week shoveling out my DVR. Along with my own take on CBS cookie-cutter crime dramas, including "Criminal Minds,", I share my impressions of "Sons of Anarchy," "Drop Dead Diva," c!assic episodes of "The Prisoner," "Sanctuary," "Ugly Betty," "Psych" and "Monk." Original blog posted here. Also, a shout-out to this week's weekly challenge on Laurence Simon's 100 Word Stories. Enjoy!

In this week's cast, the sixth season premieres of "Medium" and "Desperate Housewives" come back strong. Original blog posted here.
For my side cast, this week featured a harvest of disappointing premieres, including "NCIS," "NCIS: Los Angeles," "Stargate: Universe," "Modern Family," "The Middle" "Hank," "The Cleveland Show" and the only new show I watched that I enjoyed unreservedly, Courtney Cox in "Cougar Town." Original blog posted here.
Also, promos for Jill Schramm's Prairie Profile of Gordy Lindquist in this Monday's Minot Daily News, what's on deck in our Oct. 14 Inside Ag edition, a promo for the Mouse River Players production of "Monk-y Business II - Back in the Sandals Again" Oct. 8-11, and a promo for the Minot Area Theatrical Society's production of "DeathTrap" Oct. 15-18. In this week's cast, Nathan Fillion's second season premiere of "Castle" on ABC launched me on a trip down memory lane. Original blog posted here.
For my first side cast, in addition to "Castle," last Monday night also featured the two-hour season premieres of "House" on FOX -- I got some excellent insights from longtime "House" fan Kim Gifford -- and "Heroes" on NBC, and the return of the CBS comedy lineup, including the series premiere of Jenna Elfman's reasonably funny "Accidentally on Purpose." Original blog posted here.
For my second side cast, I took a whirlwind stab at a weekful of premieres including comments on: "Mercy," "Grey's Anatomy," "The Good Wife," "Brothers," "Eastwick," "FlashForward," "The Beautiful Life," "Dollhouse" and "The Forgotten," and I look ahead to another big week of premieres including "Desperate Housewives," "Brothers and Sisters," "Private Practice" "Stargate: Universe" and ABC's comedy lineup including "Hank," and "The Middle." Original blog posted here.
Also, promos for Andrea Johnson's Hostfest-themed Prairie Profile of Lloyd Svendsbye in this Monday's Minot Daily News, a look ahead to our coverage of the 2009 Norsk Hostfest, a promo for the Mouse River Players production of "Monk-y Business II - Back in the Sandals Again" and the 100 Word Stories weekly challenge. In this week's cast, I finally got a chance to talk about "Glee" and how pleased it made me. Original blog posted here.
For my side cast, I geek out over the season premieres of FOX series "Fringe" and "Bones", share my impressions of NBC's Thursday night comedy lineup with highlights on "Parks and Recreation" and Joel McHale's "Community", but how I'm probably not going to be able to watch with the return of "Grey's Anatomy" next week. That's part of my look ahead to a full week of returns and premieres including "Castle," "Mercy," "The Good Wife," Jerry Bruckheimer's "The Forgotten," "FlashForward," "Dollhouse" and "Medium," with a shout-out to The 61st Annual Primetime Emmys, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. Original blog posted here.
Also, promos for Eloise Ogden's Prairie Profile of Mark Fox of Parshall in this Monday's Minot Daily News, The 100 Word Stories weekly challenge, and a look ahead to our coverage of the 2009 Norsk Høstfest. Enjoy!

In this week's cast, I stood up and applauded the return of "Mad Men" for its third season premiere this past week on AMC. Original blog posted here.
For my side cast I discuss my misgivings about the BBC America series "Being Human," rip into TNT's "Hawthorne" in no uncertain terms and raise a glass to the strong sixth season premiere of "Project Runway" in its move to L.A. and to the Lifetime channel. Full blog entries here and here.
Also, a shout-out to our upcoming Prairie Profile in The Minot Daily News, and to and the Sept. 4-6 encore of the Mouse River Players production of "The Last of the Minot Flappers," with sample clips here and here. Enjoy!

In this week's cast, my colleague Andrea Johnson takes on reality TV while I'm on vacation. Original blog posted here.
For my side cast I hold off yet another week from talking about BBC America's "Being Human," -- it will happen, I can feel it in my bones -- so as to close out my views on NBC's "Kings" bowing out with something of a cliffhanger and FX's "Rescue Me" bringing its brilliant extra-long fifth season to a close, but with some unavoidably dark observations. Also, I'm quite looking forward to the third-season premiere of "Mad Men" this weekend on AMC. Full blog entry on that one here.
Also, a shout-out to speculative fiction podcast Some Other Scotland, and to Minot community theater troupe the Mouse River Players encore production of "The Last of the Minot Flappers", running Sept. 4-6, with sample clips of the show available here and here
Enjoy!

In this week's cast, I felt that ABC's beautiful scifi production "Defying Gravity" defies some science and logic as well. Original blog posted here.
For my side cast I'm holding off another week from talking about the BBC America's series "Being Human," since a) I'm on vacation, and 2) my colleague Andrea Johnson has written a perfectly good TV column for next week's arts page so I feel I can give my column a vacation, too.
For this week, I'll contain my commentary to the new seasons of "Monk" and "Psych," over which I could barely contain my enthusiasm. Full blog entry here.
Also, a shout-out to jazz programming on North Dakota Public Radio, and to The Minot Daily News. Enjoy!
