  Trial of Archimedes-God of War

  This is just a little bit of a rant that I have. I'm pretty pissed off about the Trial of Archimedes patch. I had read so much about how hard this part of God of War Ascension was and all the hooplah of how many reviewers and such had trouble with this part. I was also super excited after reading about it that I wanted my shot to get my own thrashing. I was also waiting for the price to go down before I bought the game which finally it did. Then I got to the part, grit my teeth and jumped right in. 20 minutes later it was over with no deaths and was like WTF, how was that part so hard for everybody. Then I looked onto the Internet and found out that the patch had been put in automatically making it easier. That defenitely took the wind out of my sails. I just think that something else should've happened instead of an automatic difficulty drop. Something like the Devil May Cry series when it asks if you want to drop the difficulty or something like that would've been nice. Anyways, I'd still love the chance to try the original Trial of Archimedes even though I have no clue what it contains but for now I guess I'll have to try it in Titan Mode. Like I said this was just a small rant, I'm just wondering if there were many other people out there wishing for the same thing.

  Wives...and Video Games

  This is my first blog ever so don't take it too hard on me with any comments. There's been something eating at me for quite a long time. I have been playing video games since I was 4 years old starting with Nintendo and of course, it was Super Mario Bros. At the time it was one of the greatest things I have ever seen and had me interacting in ways I had never interacted with anything before. To some that may be an issue, but to me it was the start of many exciting and great experiences I will never forget. I got married 2 and a half years ago and have known my wife for around 10 years before that. She has always known that playing video games is my favorite thing to do. So how come when the rings go on the fingers that all of a sudden it is a problem. I've heard everything from "it's such a waste of time" to "that's stupid, I don't understand why you play those stupid things." I guess I can kind of understand but the debates we've had about it I would think she would at least understand my side some. I'm sure a lot of people out there would agree with me also and probably been through some of the same things. I tell her that it has always kept me out of trouble, I have never let it interfere with my work or school life, and I play at times when she is not around or 2 busy doing other things but the rude comments always seem to come out. I've told her many times that I would quit doing many things that I was not proud of, but that is one thing no matter what that I would quit doing. I mean come on, who out there hasn't played something like god of war 3 without smiling at some of the amazing scenes that happen on a huge HDTV. I'd much rather interact with something like that than sitting down and watching something like hoarders or teen mom dumbfounded and braindead trying to figure out some of the people on there while at the same time, feeling like I am getting stupider just for watching it. At least I am still using my brain and improving hand-eye coordination. Am I right or am I wrong about that? I tend to feel that I am right and there's not much that could ever change my mind about that. I apologize to anyone reading this that feels like I am ranting but feel free to not read it, I just felt like I had to get a little bit off my chest and see how some other people thought. Thanks to anyone out there for taking the time to read and take place in my first blog ever. Maybe I'll have something way cooler to talk about next time, hahaha.

  Mass Effect and Metal Gear Solid 4

  Hi there! Seems as though nobody has read my first blog but hopefully I will get a couple followers soon. This is my second one and I like just getting some thoughts out instead of keeping them bottled in my head. Yes, the title to my blog is Mass Effect and Metal Gear Solid 4, but my main thoughts are about games like those with one hour plus cutscenes and such. I actually used to love games like these, but maybe I am just getting too old and feel like I am missing out on great games because I just don't have time anymore. I tried playing Mass Effect but everytime I got on, I would walk around for a while talking to a bunch of people and then watching a long cutscene. The story seemed like it was pretty good I got as far as becoming the arbiter I believe it was called. I just hated that between work and a now 2 year old girl to raise and a wife constantly wanting attention, I didn't get to do anything that I really enjoyed with my game time. The same goes with Metal Gear Solid 4. I actually finished the game but wow. I remember the first and 2nd metal gears where you would watch a cutscene, then listen to the radio chatter, then watch another cutscene, then more radio chatter, but it just seemed very excessive in number 4. I remember finishing the game at midnight I believe, but by the time the final cutscenes were finished, I think it was 2 am. I was so mad and tired by the time it was over I automatically hated the ending, it seemed like it would never end. I remember the days of playing final fantasy 7 and 8 with no responsibilities and being able to play til 5 in the morning grinding and grinding and never actually getting anywhere but still enjoyed so much. Maybe I was really OCD back then but it was still great to get to one of the weapon bosses with a million HP and having my team set up with HP/MP switch and Phoenix with Knights of the Round automatically summoned over and over again. Sitting the controller down and easily annihilating every single one of them and making Sephiroth look like he was nothing. Man were those the days. Anyhow, I'm sure some people would be furious about things I have said about the games, but I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who know exactly what I am talking about. Hope to hear some comments from some. Thanks a lot for reading!
