So I got Clearwire a week ago. The ad said better than broadband and free installation. All this for only 9.99 a month for three months and only 35 dollars a month after that. I though sweet I don't have to use Comcast which has a monopoly. So I tried Clearwire. After a shipping incident my router got shipped late. Eventually it came late and the box was opened...However, I plugged it in and the router found a signal. I thought to myself not bad, but the log in screen made me agree to a 2 year contract and I was told I could have a 1 year contract from customer service. However, I needed to "try" to get my game on so I foolishly agreed.
After I clicked yes I started to surf the web. I will use a metaphor to describe my experience. I felt like a one legged turtle trying to surf the web. P2P is not allowed! So no file sharing... My main concern was gaming online. WIC sordove works, but no VOIP support, because the connection is to slow. Crysis...forget about it.
So I called them up and they said my 7 day trial period was over even though I only had the router for 3 days. I calmly explained that I should have a extra 4 days due to their shipping errors. Clearwire said they would send me a email that will send me a link to be able to cancel service. I have now called them three times trying to get that email. They keep telling me they just sent it, but it may take up to 24 hours... 24 hours for a email to send! What a load of crap!
I had Comcast installed today and my download speed tests where 16 mbs second compared to Clearwires 426kbs. Comcasts upload speed was 1.5 mb per second compared to Clearwires 233kbs. However, this is being kind to Clearwire. At night when everyone uses Clearwire your speeds drop to slower then dial up.
I now believe that I will be trying to cancel my Clearwire service for many weeks to come. Moral of the story "Pay a little more for Comcast and let them have their monopoly."

So I got a Wii a little while ago and love it, but was very disappointed when I could not get the Wii to stay connected to the Internet.
I was very frustrated and couldn't really find any good posts on the web that showed exactly what router they had and how they fixed it.
I finally got my Wii connected and thought I would try to help some people that were having the same problems that I was having.
If you have a Linksys WRT54G Version 5 router and a Nintendo Wii this will fix that error. This SHOULD also work on other versions as well.
Hardware:
Router Linksys WRT54G Version 5 "This can be found under your router by the serial number"
Nintendo Wii
What I exactly did. First you will have to type 192.168.1.1 where you would usually put a web address like www.gamespot.comon your computer's Internet Explorer.
Hit enter and a box will pop up prompting you to type user name and password. Leave the username blank and type admin for the password.
If you have roommates or parents they may have changed the password and you will need to obtain that password.
Next you will go to administration and you will see firmware update. I had to go to www.linksys.com to select my WRT54G router and I clicked on my version for firmware updates. I had version 5 so I clicked on it. I received a .bin file and saved it to my desktop. Don't try to open this file!
After you are in the administration and firmware update section of your router you will see a browse option. Select the bin file you downloaded from linksys. It will update your firmware version on your router.
Next you will go to the wireless options of your router. I changed my Wireless Network Mode to MIXED and my wireless channel to 11. Click on Save settings. This is a very important step...
You will also want to go to the security options and take off block anonymous Internet requests. This will significantly increase speed and increase connection options.
After this has been completed go to the Wii Menu screen. Go to Wii Settings. Go to Internet and connection settings. Clear all previous connections and search for a access point. Select you router which should be linksys and this should be unlocked and green.Select the linksys connection. This is when you select connection test. This is what gave me problems in the first place. If you have completed all the steps above for your router a message should pop up asking you to update your Wii. If this occurs your internet on your Wii will now work!
YOU ARE NOT DONE YET! Update your Wii. This should take no longer then 10 minutes. If the blue bar does not move TURN OFF your Wii and keep trying until the Wii updates.
Once the Wii has been updated it should say version 2.2U in the top right corner.
Almost there...Go to the Wii shop channel. Download Wii Opera. This is FREE. Thats right FREE! This will take a while, but itis well worth it. Go back to the Wii menu and click on Opera. You can now surf the web from your Wii at fairly fast rates. You can now also check the weather and check a surprisingly good selection of news and pictures from the Wii menu.

Please feel free to send me messages if you need help or ifI was unclear on anything.
