    New Blog About Travel Adventures

So my friend Dan and I write about our adventures that we have whenever we go traveling. I really have taken a liking to writing in the past year, so Dan and I decided to make a blog. I figured I would post the link on here for anybody who cares. http://travelbingers.blogspot.com/

Semester on its way to closing

Well I figured I would give an update here since I haven't in a long time. All is going well in college. I've hit a bump but Im back on my feet and like I said all is well. ROTC is shaping up to be a ton of fun and I remain to hold my status as one of the best freshman. I've made a ton of friends too and some really good ones who actually care about me which they proved, but i'll get to that later. This weekend I have my first FTX (Field Training Exercise). Its in the woods somewhere a good ways away from here. We will be there 4 days and 3 nights. We will be doing battle drills with M16s using blank ammunition and practicing Land Navigation. I just packed my rucksack and let me tell you, this thing feels like a feather compared to our Ranger Challenge Rucks (45-50 pounds and then we had to RUN 6 miles wearing them along with full ACU uniform and boots.. Not a lot of fun as anyone could imagine). 30 Pounds at the most. I'm sure a lot of wuss cadets will still complain about its "cumbersome weight" though.. *rolls eyes*. Thats how it is though, not everyone is motivated. Im not sure what to expect from the FTX, but I am however positive that I will enjoy sleeping outside in the woods and being outside in the woods immensely. Its been so long since I have been camping, and I am excited to get off of campus and do something different for a change over the weekend.

School is going well too, I get A's and high B's on all my assignments. Hopefully this will continue even when I get out of intro clases lol. The bump I have faced was that I was beat up in the ghetto here. I was at a club with some friends in the ghetto (Yes I had been drinking), and I was kicked out of the club. My so called "Friends" who I was with didn't come with me and being stupid I decided to wander around the area (probably the worst area to wander around alone in the entire city). As I was wandering I came across 4 guys beating up 2 homeless people. Seeing this I ran over to them and started fighting them trying to save the homeless people. One homeless guy managed to escape with my "distraction" and ran to go get the police. While he was gone the fight ensued. The main person I was fighting (who was in the Navy, but obviously he wont be for long anymore lol) then picked up a piece of concrete and began to beat me with it. This knocked me out. When I woke up i was surrounded by the police. I told them what happened and that I was just trying to help the homeless guys out. The 4 guys were arrested. I was then brought to the hospital where I was given stitches and cleaned up. Then, being that I was all alone, i made a bunch of calls to all of my friends. I told some people what happened and next thing I know 3 of my friends walk in to the emergency room looking for me (Keep in mind it was 4AM). I learned who my real friends were right then and there. I told my senior NCO's at my battalion what happened and I was kicked off of the ranger challenge team for underage drinking. It sucks because I let my team down. I understand their punishment though and there's always next year. Other than that, I am back on my feet and living it up. College is a blast and these will be an interesting 4 years.

Oh yeah and Obama won. AWESOME. I wrote in Ron Paul but Obama is cool too. History in the making right here people, 1st black president!

ROTC Making it difficult to stay awake during classes

ROTC is a ton of fun and I love it to death so far. However this past week i've had to battle sleep every single minute of every class that I have. I go to bed early (9:30 or 10, wake up at 5:10).

Anybody have any suggestions on how to stay awake? I would prefer not having to resort to caffeine.
