Wow, I haven't posted in months! PD updates
Well, my last final was wed. the 10th so my dad came and picked me up and now i am back in baker for winter break. i have been over at the pd pretty much everyday. nothing that cool happened until today, we are in the breakroom eating lunch and dispatch comes on the radio and tells the officers they have 'information' and proceeded to say there was a house fire right down the road from the pd. it was cool to see everyone hightail it to their cars. i asked if i could go and chief said i could so i hopped in the CSO's truck and we pull out of the driveway and about 2 blocks away you could see the fire trucks that were already there. the 3 police vehicles had to do traffic control. so i got to wear this bright orange reflective vest and direct cars. sad part is neither the cso or i had hats jackets or gloves and it was about 7f degrees outside. (that would be -13c for anyone outside the states.) sergeant drove by us and let me wear her hat (she's so nice
) and poor cso didnt have anything. after a couple mins she was like 'if you wanna run back and go get your coat you can. just grab mine too' lol. so i ran back to the pd and grabbed our stuff and then ran back (literally, i was running.). then after a few more mins they let us go back home. seems it was just a small wall fire in someones house, no one was hurt so thats always good.and later i shoveled part of the parking lot because there is just too much snow here!!! lets see, what else. oh, i did a ride last friday with officer b and we didnt get one call the entire night (although we did find some people misbehaving on our own so its not like we didnt do anything). i am going to try and do a ride tonight, have to wonder over in about an hour to see if someone will take me (and who could deny such a magnificent person? lol). then i am doing a ride on friday (during the day) and i have one set up on the 23rd as well. ill see if i cant get some more before i have to go back to school - for my last quarter of my college education! i graduate in march!!!
so, i think that is it for now. im hungry and therefore i am going to go take care of some business with the microwave and leftover pizza

i got kicked by a horse...
so my friend and i went out to go riding today and while we were moving one of her horses out of the round pen and putting the other in, hers spooked, which made the one i was holding spook and pretty much plowed right through me. thank God i stuck my hand up because as she ran by she kicked and got me square on the right elbow. It freaking hurt!! and while im on the ground i can feel my fingers going numb and getting all tingly and im just thinkin 'this aint good'. but when i went inside and stuck my hand under the water, i realized the finger pain was because i got a rope burn. but anyway, theres a scrape on my elbow from where the hoof got the skin and its a little bloody, but dry now. and there is a big a$$ bump, bigger than the size of a golf ball, on the inside of my elbow. freakin sucks. and its turnin all black and blue, too. it kind of looks like a have a tumor on my elbow lol (not that tumors are a laughing matter, because they arent, but.. yeah.)
i can move it and rotate it around so i dont think anything is broken, unless a little part got chipped off or something. but my fingers move pretty slow. its like when you've been outside in the cold for a long time and then you go back in and as you start to warm up your fingers are real slow, or if you've experience a 'dead arm' where someone knuckles you between the mucsles and everything feels real slow and heavy for a little while. yep, its like that. i should take some pictures and post em for ya'll to see. its gnarly.
well i went over to the pd and showed chief and our receptionist and they were like "looks like it hurts." and im like...'uh, duh.' and i go back to show our CSO (who we both agreed that we would go running together everyday at 3:15 until i go back to school) and she says "you shouldnt run today, i can go alone." and i go "i got kicked in the elbow, not the leg. i can still go." and i did, im such a trooper
after the run, cso and i went back to talk to the serge and she was like, and i quote, 'for sh!ts sake! that thing is bigger than your boobs' haha. then she asked me about 5 different times 'lemme see it again' lol. she particularly enjoyed one angle where its just freaking huge. both her and chief were examining it and trying to grab it and im like "back away from the elbow" haha. freaking chief was trying to poke and push to see if it hurt when he did that, which it did and i made him stop. he told me to put some horse linament on it. but i dont have any so i put ice on it but then my freaking hand started to go numb which i thought was wierd because the ice was on my elbow, not my hand. so if it gets any bigger or hurt more tomorrow, im prolly gonna go see the doc. i probably should have gone today but, meh. i figure hes just gonna say take it easy and ice it, which im already going to do anyway and i dont need to pay to have someone tell me that. so if i ever decide to quite being lazy and dig out my digi, ill take some pics and post em. toodles.

got to see my first duii last night!
i did another ride along last night w/ officer b. it started out in the squad room with the serg doing briefing. there was a person on day shift who had threatened suicide by cop so she was informing the night guys on what the deal was. appearently they have a very large rifle so i decided to chim in "can i wear a vest tonight?" (referring to a bullet-proof vest) and the serg goes "well i dont know where the extra vest got to" "the CSO was wearing it yesterday, its probably in her locker since she didnt put it back in your office." serg looks at me "no, you cant wear the vest." (then i think i growled at her, or at least gave her a mean look. lol) then officer h said "that vest wouldnt help you none with the size of gun they've got anyway." then after they finished briefing and serg was about to leave she looks at my driver, points at me and says "she doesnt get a vest. you guys be careful and keep her safe. make sure you show her how to unlock the guns and use the AR." (im thinking 'saweet'! lol). so we get going and officer b showed me how to use the gun and stuff, which was pretty cool. all i has to do was hit the gun lock button on the control panel, pull it out, cock it, and pull the trigger. though she did tell me to make sure i dont shoot her, just the bad person. lol. but guess what? we never even actually got a call on them so nothing even became of it. (at least last night, might be a different story later on down the road).
our first stop was someone they had some pc (probable cause) on and wanted to make an arrest. we drove to the vacinity of the house, turned off the headlights as we were driving up and parked around the corner. i had to wait on the corner of the street while officers b and h went to go make the arrest. i was so excited!! then they came back about 30 seconds later cuz no one was home. major, major bummer. so we actually spent quite a bit of the night trying to figure out where this character was, they obviously knew the cops were after em so they laying low for a while.
now ill tell the story of the duii (driving under the influence of intoxicants). we were out on one side of town conversing with officer h when dispatch comes over the radio "drunk driver at such and such street" both cars hit the gas and were driving to the other side of town. dispatch had a person following the drunk driver so they were updating the location as the person was making turns. i think we were doing about 50+ in a 25 mph zone. hehe (but not too many people out on the road that late at night). officer h got behind the car first and pulled it over. i got to go up to his car and watch him conduct the FST (field sobriety test) on the driver while officer b stayed back at her car. well, turns out the driver was pretty freaking old! like - on the verge of 80 - old! and officer h only got to do the 'follow my pen with your eyes and dont move your head' deal on the driver. he asked if they wanted to do the 'walk the line' portion but driver declined due to just getting new hips not too long ago! lmao! so he put those pretty silver bracelets on em and took em to jail. i got to go with officer h on that part just so i could see how the rest of the proceedings go and that was pretty cool. although i didnt get to stay with him when we got to jail, i had to go to the control center and watch on a camera. but it was a good experience none the less.
i did pick up a new nickname last night. officer be so sincerely called me 'spanky' lol. (and she also called me some other things, too. but that ones the coolest
) well, all in all it was a pretty awesome night. i'll keep you guys updated on my next ones. but right now im still really tired so im gonna go take a nap. g'night
