My Friends

I have a friend who is a private distributor and he was able to sell me a copy of the game early. I have it on PS3 and I will be playing it for the next few days in serious depth and exploration. Expect a full review from me on or before launch day!

Just FYI, it's beyond incredible so far. It is fantastic!

Well, it has for me anyway. I just got the Japanese playable demo along with the Japanese version of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete in the mail today and I am going to play it to death. Later, after giving it a real good solid play through, I'll write out a full report on how the game looks, plays, and any other details that may come up that are worth mentioning. I'll let you all know how it goes.

I am going to beat all of the Final Fantasy games within one year.

I have debated whether or not I posess the dedication required to take this project on. After weighing the pros and cons I think it is time for me to make my decision. I will be playing though the first main 12 Final Fantasy games, one per month, to completion for the next year. I plan on reporting on each game as I play through them. Of course, I will have to substitute Final Fantasy XI Online for with another title (X-2, Crisis Core, etc) as it is an online title that never ends.

I already own each game and they are all just waiting to be played. I have already beaten some games in full but I will have to play them again in order to keep them all fresh in my mind. I am having trouble deciding where to start. It would make sense to begin with Final Fantasy as it is the first one and progress through them numerically to see how the series has progressed. It would also be nice to start in the middle somewhere and alternate between newer titles and older ones to see some real contrast. Any suggestions would be welcome.

This is something I plan to undertake after I play though the Japanese Final Fantasy XIII demo on PS3. I have ordered it and once it gets here I want to play it thoroughly and report on how the game looks and plays. I plan on being done with all of the Final Fantasy games in one year, and hopefully before Final Fantasy XIII actually releases in the States. If time allows, I will include the various side stories like Crisis Core, Dirge of Cererus, X-2, The After Years; but my focus will be on the main original games.

I will update this blog as I play through each game. This is a good place to talk all things Final Fantasy so please feel free to talk to me and/or each other about this amazing series. If you have questions for me or any of the games, please post them here. Chances are, this will be a good place to find your answer.

For me, this is a very serious goal that I hope to accomplish. I am a full time worker and student so this will be tough for me to do, plus I have a GF (a girlfriend, not Guardian Force... dork!) and she's not going to just let me off date nights that easily. It's going to take a lot of dedication and commitment to do this. I'll need some support and encouragement so feel free to push me along the way.

My adventure will begin after the FF XIII demo is played through and I expect it here this week. I will be sure to let you all know what the game is like thus far.In the time before FF XIII, I will probably play a little of the beginning of each game to try to decide where to start. Again, any suggestions are welcome. I'll make me decision soon. The way I figure it, each game averages about 50 hours; some more, some less. That means if I give an hour and a half of play to each game everyday, I should be able to do this.

For now, that's all I have. Wish me luck!

To those paying attention, I just bought a 20GB PS3 on ebay for $250.00! It's been upgraded to a 120GB harddrive but it is, in fact, the REAL 20GB original and has full backwards compatablity. I am tickled. I can't wait for it to arrive. Now my problem is I have alot of great games to get plus all the Xbox 360 stuff I plan on getting this year. Thoughts or advice from all of you?

I think OnLive is about to dominate or at least change everything we know about gaming. I can see it somehow pairing with Microsoft in order to ensure a strong and established gaming community as Xbox Live is the best internet gaming around. For me, OnLive is the obvious next step. I've actually made the argument that gaming will eventually go to a no disc format and strictly online format. It makes sense. No one wants to spend $400-$600 for the next system with $60.00 games. A service like this is what is needed to evolve the gaming industry. Sure, things will change. Gamestop and EB Games are likely yesterday's news. But the industry isn't about saving some retail store or even providing a tangible game cartridge or disc. It is about growth and taking the next step in high technology. If people can play their old arcade favorites along with the newest and latest groundbreaking titles by merely turning on their TV/Computer, then how could the standard platform even hope to compete? Think about it; no more bulky games laying around; no high cost systems that get red rings or feature high cost blu ray drives, no standing in line to get the next big game around Christmas time. All of these hassles and problems will be a thing of the past. Gaming will be able to grow leaps and bounds by being more efficient. Even producers will benefit with lower costs and more room for development in sharing with the gaming community during production. And best of all, this is a fantastic opportunity for smaller, upstart gaming developers to get their new and innovative ideas out there to the masses without the messy worries of producers and bigger companies. I can see Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony jumping on board or bringing something very similar to the table. It will be more like a service provider rather than a new system. Competition will still be there but this will force everyone to think of gaming in a new way. I say AMEN to that!

I just recently took a look at my emblems and everything and I noticed that my votes for 2004, 2005, and 2007 are there. However, I have also voted for 2006 and 2008 and there are no emblems. Why not? Where are they? I hate to be picky but if I voted, don't you think I should have the emblems that state that I have done so? I mean, someone who is looking me up might think I'm some sort of slacker or something. NOT THE CASE! I vote because I believe very much in supporting gaming and I think voting shows that support. I just don't understand what's the dealio. Kind of pissing me off at the moment.

Anyone else notice anything similar? Has Gamespot been neglagent with any of you? Do tell....

To those of you that care, Dissidia is a 3D arena style fighting game featuring Final Fantasy characters. The game will not see release until later this year, here in the States. However, I have imported my copy from Japan and I'm here to say that it looks fantastic! I am still trying to figure out what I need to do in order to play it well. The game seems to have a fairly decent story mode that is heavy on text. I would not recommend importing this title unless you know at least some Japanese. But as far as the quality of the game, I'm sure those that are curious about it will not be disappointed. Even though I have my import copy, I still plan on getting the US copy just so I can know what the hell to do and how the story plays out. If you want to ask me anything about it, here's the place to do it. If I can, I'll be sure to review the game soon.

Worried about paying 40 bucks for something not worthwhile? Read my review and see why it might be the best 40 bucks you can spend on a game.

Hell to the YIZAAHHH! I'm a Radiant Silvergun. Named after only the best shooter of all time along with being one of the greatest Sega Saturn games in that system's life. Talk about a game that needs to come to the states. I can see it coming to PSN and Xbox Liva arcade one day. Anyone want to start a petition with me to Sega? Let me know!

For those of you that know me, my reviews are quite full in content compared to most fan reviews out there. I have added my latest review of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, if any of you are interested in reading it. It's sad that a game like this has so many reviews out there that are simply one paragraph in length or that reviews are sophomoric and not well thought out. Something like "This is the AWESOMIST PSP GAME EVER!!!" is what we have to sift through in order to find someone that has actually put some work into what they write.

My reviews are always full. I tell the strengths and weaknesses of the games I review and I share actual points of play so anyone reading my reviews will be able to better determine if this would be a suitable game for them or not. If any of you are looking for some decent fan reviews, please feel free to look at some that I have written. It will save you the time of looking for decent reviews beyond the pros and also from having to search through 100 fan reviews that may not be enough to persuade you on way or the other on the game you are curious about.

As of now, I only have 20 reviews. I will be writting more reviews shortly and I hope they will find an audience among the mess.
